We are a journal on archaeology published by the National Research and Innovation Agency every May and November each year. This journal seek to promote and shares research results and ideas on archaeology to the public. We covers original research results, ideas, theories, or other scientific works from the discipline of Archaeology mainly in the Indonesian Archipelago and Southeast Asia. Interest from other disciplines (such as history, anthropology, architecture, geology, etc.) must be related to archaeological subject to be covered in this journal. Our first edition was published on March 1980.

Abstract

The application of artefact analysis which includes patination and rounding rates which has been applied to a collection of artifacts from the Baksoka River basin has proven to be of great help in research. The results of this analysis are very helpful in obtaining a picture of the origin / initial location of a collection of artifacts mixed in their deposition. From the results of this analysis, it can be seen which river terraces contain artifacts, and finally an estimate of the chronology of these artifacts can be obtained.

Abstract

Kali Maron is an archaeological site whose artifatcs are no longer insitu, because sedimentological analysis has proven that its lithic artifacts are the result of river sediment. The location of the Maron River which is very close to the sea (downstream), does not allow a clear geomorphology of the terraces: lithic artifacts are found on the river bed. However, the large amount of artifact content in the sediment (7, 7% of the total composition) makes the Maron river a very rich site. The existence of these artifacts that have never been disturbed makes the Maron industry quite representative from a statistical point of view. The alluvial matrix of the artefacts previously described (disctance of transportation before deposition) also means significant proportions, where the Maron river site fully reflects the exploitation of lithic artifacts in the surrounding area.

Abstract

The relationship between the stone reduction stages and the presence of physical defects can show the product and debitage according to the purpose of stone adze making. The relationship between the physical defects and the sequence of stages of stone reduction to proto-adze and adze shows that each group always does not have completely flaked products, so it does not show products that are suitable for the purpose of forming proto-adzes.

Abstract

The Indonesian nation in general and the Javanese in particular have had various abilities as a frame of reference that lasted for generations. Thus the various capabilities that exist today are actually only products of the "local genius" of the past. Javanese people since ancient times have always emphasized the connection between the past, present and future.

Abstract

At Prawoto Hill there is a classical-Hindu phenomenon even though it is within the historical framework of the Islamic Kingdom of Demak. This classical-Hindu phenomenon can be seen in the archaeological remains and the concept behind the choice of Hill or Mount Prawoto as a place to build a pesanggrahan building. Yoni, and statues still colored the construction of the pesanggrahan building during the Demak Kingdom era, but their function had been transferred from sacred to religious to profane. The concept of mountains is a concept that has existed since the classical-Hindu period and still has an important meaning during the era of the Demak Kingdom.

Abstract

The roofs of ancient mosques in Kalimantan based on their shape are almost all similar to each other. The similarity mainly lies in the form of multi-storey roofs known as overlapping roofs. Almost all overlapping roofs are made of shingle. The peaks are almost all in the shape of a dome, except in some mosques, such as the Wasah Hilir Mosque whose peaks are only in the form of flower arrangements. The shape of the dome is also varied, namely the shape of the onion dome, the round dome, the dome shaped like a hat, and the hexagonal dome.
