Abstract

This study aimed to identified mangrove species, calculated the total number and composition of mangroves, and the structure of zonation mangroves at the mangrove relocation area in Keude Panga Village, Panga District, Aceh Jaya Regency. The study was carried out on April  2021, for one month with two replications. The research method was the survey method, namely directed observation to research location. A sampling of mangroves used the quadratic transect method, which was divided into 3 transect points with the categories of tree plots measuring 10 m x 10 m, sapling plots with 5 m x 5 m, and the seedling plots measuring 1 m x 1 m. Data analyzed of the total number and composition of mangroves used Microsoft Excel 2010 and zonation of mangrove analysis was carried out descriptively. The results showed on the research at both stations founded 3 species of true mangrove and 1 species of scrub respectively, namely Rhizhopora mucronata (19% sapling level), Rhizhopora apiculata (34% sapling level), Nypa fruticans (47% tree level), Acrostichum aureum (or 100% shrub category) and Rhizhopora mucronata (23 individuals or 37% sampling level), Rhizhopora apiculata (15 individuals 20% sapling level), Nypa fruticans (36 individuals or 49% tree level), Acrostichum aureum (100% shrub category). Structure zonation of mangrove vegetation is composed of 3 species of mangroves, namely Rhizhopora mucronata which was located closest to the sea, Rhizhopora apiculata was in the middle of the mangrove ecosystem, and Nypa fruticans was a pioneer mangrove located close to the mainland.

Abstract

Mangrove ecotourism is an environmentally friendly tourism object where the tourism prioritizes aspects of the natural beauty of the mangrove forest and the fauna that live around it without destroying it. Ecotourism is a form of tourism that is responsible for the preservation of natural areas, provides economic benefits and maintains the cultural integrity of the local community (Fandeli, 2000). Management of ecosystem mangrove is very important to maintain and preserve the mangrove ecosystem. The purpose of the study was to determine the ecotourism potential that exists in the Aceh Jaya Mangrove Ecotourism Area and to determine the ecotourism management strategy in the Aceh Jaya Mangrove Ecotourism Area. This research is important to do to find how to management of ecosystem mangrove in Aceh Jaya in tourism mangrove area of developing ecotourism areas so that mangrove ecotourism can develop at this time.   Aceh Jaya District has a mangrove area of 500 hectares. Mangrove ecotourism has enormous potential to be developed into a tourist spot because it has six types of mangroves including Rhizopora mukronata, Rhizopora apiculata, Rhizopora stylosa, Bruguiera cylindrical, Bruguiera gymnorhiza, and Nypah fruticans. There are mainland fauna such as birds, monitor lizards, lizards, snakes, and monkeys, as well as aquatic fauna of long-snout swordfish, sepat fish, slugs, oysters, crabs, and shellfish. Mangrove ecotourism in Aceh Jaya has been used for various purposes such as for research, providing job opportunities for local communities and as a source of livelihood for local communities. The community-based management strategy of the Aceh Jaya mangrove ecotourism area means involving the community in the planning, implementation, and management of ecotourism businesses in all activities carried out. Mangrove ecotourism has 2 small boats, libraries, trekking (bridges), mangrove nursery houses and tour guides who are responsible for providing instructions, companions and serving tourists.

Abstract

Dam Raman is a reservoir located in the Metro City of Lampung. These waters used for activities such as aquaculture (KJA) and tourism activities. The input of organic matter from aquaculture (KJA) and tourism activities can trigger eutrophication. Phytoplankton are organisms that are sensitive to changes in water quality and have an important role as the basis of the food chain. The purpose of this study was to examine the abundance and community structure of phytoplankton in the Dam Raman. The research was conducted in January – March 2020. Samples were taken from four research observation stations. The data collected include water quality, species composition and abundance of phytoplankton, diversity index, similarity index, and dominance index. The results of the observations showed that there were 7 classes of phytoplankton. These classes include Chlorophyceae, Chrysophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Rhodophyceae, and Xantophyceae. The abundance of phytoplankton ranged from 116-7278 cells/L. Phytoplankton diversity in Dam Raman is high with moderate community stability with values ranging from 2.89 to 3.33 and there is no indication of the dominance of certain types of phytoplankton

Abstract

The resources of blue swimming crab (BSC) (Portunus pelagicus) in Asahan Waters are caught by fishers, that have used gillnets, which is the main target and bycatch is used to meet benefit activities, then there are concerns about the inappropriate crab management. This study aims to determine a number of crab production, crab condition, main target and bycatch proportion and the crab fishing gear feasibility. The method used in this research is a descriptive survey method. The results showed that the catch of BSC was 434.25 kg (86%) as the main target and bycatch was 15 kg (14%) with a composition of 19 species. Total of BSC was 1081 with an average carapace width of 103.57 mm for males and 96.60 mm for females. Based on the Decree of Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries No.1 year 2015, it is assumed that the gillnet used by fishers is a not feasible catching category for the juvenile crab growth.

Abstract

Seaweed is one of the leading commodities in Indonesia. National aquaculture production for export focuses on 3 commodities that is shrimp, lobster and seaweed, where the highest aquaculture production is seaweed. The value of aquaculture for seaweed commodities in 2015–2020 increased by 4.9%, while the target of seaweed commodities for export in 2020-2024 has increased by 2,154,000 (tons), where in 2010 the number of export commodities was 10,298,000 (tons) to 12,452,000 (tons) in 2024 (KKP). Southeast Sulawesi ranks 5th as the government's priority location for achieving seaweed production in 2020-2024 after South Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara (KKP, 2021). One of the centers of seaweed production in Southeast Sulawesi is Buton Regency. West Boneatiro Village is located in Kapontori District, Buton Regency which is currently redeveloping the cultivation of seaweed Euchema spinosum which was stopped about 10 years ago because decrease in water quality which causes crop failure. The results of this study are expected to provide information to local fishermen regarding water quality for the suitability of Euchema spinosumseaweed cultivation.

Abstract

Wonorejo river estuary is a wide estuary in Surabaya. It becomes mangrove conservation area. But, many land conversion from mangroves to ponds up to the dense pollution on the river neighbour make water quality issues especially for DO in that water. Based on this situation, the aim of this study is to find distribution of DO in Wonorejo river estuary, to know that water quality standard based on the quality standard criteria, and to know the effect of DO Wonorejo river estuary into estuarine ecosystem. A hydrodynamic and water quality model with MIKE 21 Hydrodynamics and ECO Lab module are used to examine distribution of water quality parameters in Wonorejo river estuary in one month at dry season. Validation used DO measurement in 10 sites along Wonorejo estuary at same season. Then, analyze the impact into estuarine ecosystem was used. DO concentration has interval 5,26 - 5,72 mg/L at high tide and 5,027 - 5,65 mg/L at low tide. After one month, DO in estuary has the highest concentration 5,536 mg/L. Based on literature, this concentrations can make shrimps growth bothered. But, this concentration is still not exceeding from quality standard for marine biota in Environment Ministry Regulation Number 51/2004. Optimizing the role of Local Government and mangrove rehabilitation according to procedures in the estuary area.
