Abstract

Early mobilization is a therapy for the ability of individuals to move freely, easily, and regularly. Individuals who have had a caesarean section often feel unable to perform daily activities. The research objective was to determine the effect of early mobilization on daily living activities based on dependence in postoperative caesarean section patients at the East Semar District General Hospital, Maluku. The research design used quasi-experimental methods The population was all patients with post-op section caesarea in the regional general hospital of east Seram regency. The sample was all patients with post-op section caesarea. The samples was taken by quota sampling. The data were collected by using a barthel instrument index, an early mobilization SOP, leaflets, and observation sheets and analyzed with marginal homogenity test. The results of the study proved that all respondents performed early mobilization, and most respondents experienced the activity daily living category independently in patients with post-operation cesarean sections. The results of the marginal homogeneity test obtained a p value of 0, which means that there was an effect of early mobilization on daily living activities based on dependence on postoperative caesarean section patients at the regional general hospital of East Seram Regency, Maluku. Based on the research results, it is necessary for further researchers to measure all the factors that affect the level of dependence on activity for daily living in the post-operation section caesarean

Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2021, the highest mothers’ mortality rate cases occurred in Africa with 525 deaths per 100,000 live births and the lowest was in Europe with 13 deaths per 100,000 live births. The most common cause of mothers mortality rate in Indonesia in 2019 was caused by several cases such as bleeding (30.32%). Uterine atony occurs due to failure of uterine contractions to control bleeding after delivery, causing uterine subinvolution. This process is known as uterine involution. The herbal composition of rujak soup is useful for preventing blood clots due to a compound called gingerol in ginger. The type of research used in this study was a quasi-experiment with a two-group post-test design. The population in this study was postpartum mothers from the first day to the tenth day of postpartum at PMB F Bengkulu City as many as 117 people with a sample of 30 respondents. The statistical test used was the Independent T-test. The results of this study indicate that the average acceleration of uterine involution on the seventh day is known that in the herbal soup rujak group is 4.73 and the uterine involution acceleration in the palm juice group is 5.40 with a mean difference between the herbal kuah rujak group and the date palm juice group. 0.67. There was an effect between the group of herbal ingredients of rujak sauce and the palm juice group on the TFU on day 7 with a p value = 0.038 and a mean difference of 0.67. This proves that the herbal rujak soup accelerates uterine involution more. It is hoped that the PMB of the Telaga Dewa Working Area will continue to promote complementary medicine with herbal ingredients to reduce the use of chemical drugs and help deal with problems during the postpartum period

Abstract

Hormonal contraceptives contain estrogen and progesterone. Prolonged use causes a higher dose of the estrogen and progesterone hormones that can cause leucorrhoea or vaginal discharge. Analyzing and reviewing articles related to the relation between the use of hormonal contraceptive methods with the leucorrhoea occurrence. The literature review method used a systematic mapping study design. Literature sources were obtained from the Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Proquest databases with 6 years of publication. The literature collection strategy using PEOS was then selected to produce 10 articles that matched the research criteria. Of 10 articles that examined the type of hormonal family planning (KB) that were mostly used were 3 articles with injectable KB, 2 articles on pill KB, 2 articles on KB implants, and 3 articles that did not mention the type. There were 3 articles describe that both <1 year and >1 year duration of the usage can cause vaginal discharge. There were 7 articles with analytical tests, 4 articles (57%) stated that there was a relation between the use of hormonal contraceptive methods and the occurrence of vaginal discharge, while 3 articles (43%) stated that there was no relation between the use of hormonal contraceptive methods and the occurrence of vaginal discharge. There were 3 articles that did a descriptive analysis, it was found that contraceptive users who experienced vaginal discharge were more than 35%. The use of hormonal contraception can cause physiological vaginal discharge since the hormones progesterone and estrogen change the flora and pH of the vagina, besides that vaginal discharge occurs because personal hygiene is not correct

Abstract

Anxiety about dealing with the infectious nature of COVID-19 could influence the elderly to avoid visiting health facilities due to concerns about the rapid transmission of the disease. The impact of decreasing interest in visiting the elderly with comorbidities to health facilities causes repeated recurrences, and they do not get treatment to improve their health. This research aimed to determine the correlation between anxiety and interest in visiting health facilities for the elderly with comorbid diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic. The variables in this research were anxiety and interest in visiting health facilities. A questionnaire was used for data collection. The design of this research was a correlation with a cross-sectional approach, a sample of 32 respondents, and a purposive sampling technique. The result showed that most of the respondents (53.1%), 17 respondents, experienced moderate anxiety. Most of the respondents (62.5%), 20 respondents, had sufficient interest in visiting. Based on the Spearman's rank test, a p-value of 0.032 (α = 0,05) was obtained, meaning that there was a correlation between anxiety in comorbid elderly people and interest in visiting health facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic with a weak correlation category (r = 0.380). The elderly's anxiety about visiting health facilities during the pandemic could be because the elderly are getting tired of the comorbid disease process they experience; the elderly also feel vulnerable to infection due to information related to COVID-19 transmission; the elderly were afraid to die when confirmed with COVID-19; the elderly worried about the health of their families and the elderly as well. Worried that they have contracted the COVID-19 virus. It recommended for respondents not be afraid or anxious about coming to health facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The elderly could visit health facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic safely by always complying with health protocols

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) infections is classified as one of the non-pregnancy related infections (NPRI) which cause maternal mortality. Therefore, it was important for the researcher to explore the challenges faced by midwives regarding TB screening as it is the most leading complication in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected pregnant women. To that effect, several strategies for TB screening during pregnancy have been introduced and implemented thus far. Screening of TB during antenatal care helps to enhance early detection, exclusion and treatment of the infection in pregnant women who are HIV positive. The study used qualitative descriptive research design. The population included all midwives aged 30 to 48 years, who were working at primary health (PHC) clinics in Kganya local area, Capricorn District, Limpopo Province in South Africa. Nonprobability purposive sampling technique was employed to select ten midwives. Data were collected through in-depth individual semi -structured interviews with ten midwives. Data analysis was accomplished, using the manual thematic analysis according to Tesch’s method of data analysis. Finally the main themes were extracted. Two themes emerged from the study, namely: Challenges regarding TB screening; Measures that can enhance TB screening. It is important that the department of health should pay attention to challenges faced by midwives to ensure adequate TB screening amongst HIV positive pregnant women. Capacitating both midwives and the community with knowledge regarding TB screening during pregnancy can be beneficial to the health of the pregnant women and their unborn babies.

Abstract

Postpartum depression is a mental health problem experienced by mothers at 4 weeks after giving birth which is characterized by feelings of sadness, decreased mood, feelings of failure or guilt, and even suicidal ideation, one of which is due to lack of husband support. To analyze the incidence of postpartum depression, the provision of husband support, and the relationship between providing husband support to the incidence of postpartum depression. This study used a systematic review design by tracing journal articles through the database like as Proquest, Garuda Portal, PubMed, and Science Direct with the publication year from January 2012 - January 2022 and discussing husband support and the incidence of postpartum depression, and using Indonesian and English. The keywords used in national journal were "husband's support" and "postpartum depression" or "postpartum depression", for international journal articles used "spousal support" or "partner support" or "husband's support" and "postpartum depression. The results showed that 10 journal articles met the inclusion criteria with all journal articles stating that there was a relationship between husband support and the incidence of postpartum depression. Most postpartum mothers do not experience postpartum depression and receive husband's support. There was a relationship between providing husband's support and the incidence of postpartum depression, where the higher the husband's support, the lower postpartum depression that occurs in postpartum mothers. The results of the study found 10 journal articles that met the inclusion criteria with all journal articles stating that there was a relationship between the provision of husband support and the incidence of postpartum depression.

Abstract

Decreased intestinal peristalsis due to anesthesia before laparotomy surgery can result in inhibition of nerve impulses to the intestinal muscles, paralytic ileus can occur and inhibition of the work of the intestine itself. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of chewing gum and early mobilization on intestinal peristalsis after laparotomy surgery. The research design used a quasi-experimental. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with 32 respondents divided into 2 groups. The treatment group was given an intervention of chewing gum and early mobilization, while the control group was given an intervention according to standard operating hospital procedures, namely tilting right and left and given 2 spoons of drinking after the patient was fully conscious in the room. The independent variables were chewing gum and early mobilization. The dependent variable was intestinal peristaltic. This study used univariate analysis to determine the characteristics of respondents. The bivariate analysis used paired t test and independent t test. The paired t test in the pre-posttest in the control group was 0.000, while the pre-posttest in the treatment group was 0.000. Independent T test on the post-test of the treatment group with the post-test of the control group of 0.000. There was an effect of chewing gum and early mobilization intervention on intestinal peristalsis in post laparotomy patients. Chewing gum and early mobilization can stimulate hormones in the gastrointestinal system such as gastrin, secretin, gastric inhibitory polypeptide, cholecystokinin, motilin, and enteroglukagon which will increase intestinal peristalsis

Abstract

Many people with COPD develop emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Both conditions cause obstruction of airflow in the respiratory system and cause an increase in the frequency of external respiration. One of the non-pharmacological management is tripod position and pursed lip breathing. This study aimed to determine the effect of giving a tripod position and pursed lip breathing on respiration rate in COPD patients. The design of this study used a one group pretest-post test design. The population in this study were all COPD patients at Bangil Hospital, Pasuruan in June 2021. The sampling technique of this study was consecutive sampling, the sample was obtained by 25 respondents. The instrument used observation and SOP. The results showed that the average respiration rate before giving the combination of tripod position and pursed lip breathing was 28.8x/minute, and the average value of respiration rate after giving the tripod position and pursed lip breathing was 23.2x/minute. Wilcoxon test results value = 0.000 on respiration rate before and after the combination of tripod position and pursed lip breathing, which means that tripod position and pursed lip breathing are proven to be effective on respiration rate in COPD patients. Tripod position and pursed lip breathing will loosen the chest cavity, provide positive pressure on the lungs so that air can go in and out more smoothly and reduce shortness of breath
