Abstract

Introduction: Extraordinary policies have been launched by the government to reduce Maternal Mortality Rate/ Infant Mortality Rate (MMR/IMR) , however this has not been comparable with the expected results. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Katoga's multi-level education on the competence of cadres, public figure, and families in preventing, detecting early and handling emergency pregnancy to reduce MMR/IMR. Methods: This research study used action research with stratified respondents, 10 health cadres who will provide training to 30 community leader respondents and subsequently public figure will provide training to 60 selected families with simple random sampling. The independent variable was multi-level education and the dependent variable was competence in early detection of emergencies in pregnancy. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed by t-test. Results: The results showed that the increasing of the competence in preventing, early detecting and handling emergency pregnancy after receiving multilevel education training in health cadres from the previous value of 70 to 93; in community leaders from 61.1 to 80.5 and in families from 58.0 to 78.9. There was a significant increase in competency with multi-level education training in increasing competency in a larger population with a cadre pValue of 0.003; community leaders 0,000 and families 0,000. Conclusions: Community empowerment in the health sector through multi-level education can spread knowledge in preventing, detecting high-risk pregnancies early and managing maternal emergencies so as to facilitate the task of health nurses to obtain information about pregnant women detected as high-risk populations.

Abstract

Anxiety about dealing with the infectious nature of COVID-19 could influence the elderly to avoid visiting health facilities due to concerns about the rapid transmission of the disease. The impact of decreasing interest in visiting the elderly with comorbidities to health facilities causes repeated recurrences, and they do not get treatment to improve their health. This research aimed to determine the correlation between anxiety and interest in visiting health facilities for the elderly with comorbid diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic. The variables in this research were anxiety and interest in visiting health facilities. A questionnaire was used for data collection. The design of this research was a correlation with a cross-sectional approach, a sample of 32 respondents, and a purposive sampling technique. The result showed that most of the respondents (53.1%), 17 respondents, experienced moderate anxiety. Most of the respondents (62.5%), 20 respondents, had sufficient interest in visiting. Based on the Spearman's rank test, a p-value of 0.032 (α = 0,05) was obtained, meaning that there was a correlation between anxiety in comorbid elderly people and interest in visiting health facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic with a weak correlation category (r = 0.380). The elderly's anxiety about visiting health facilities during the pandemic could be because the elderly are getting tired of the comorbid disease process they experience; the elderly also feel vulnerable to infection due to information related to COVID-19 transmission; the elderly were afraid to die when confirmed with COVID-19; the elderly worried about the health of their families and the elderly as well. Worried that they have contracted the COVID-19 virus. It recommended for respondents not be afraid or anxious about coming to health facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The elderly could visit health facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic safely by always complying with health protocols

Abstract

One form of stress that is often experienced by students and college students is academic stress. Stress can cause neck and shoulder pain due to psychological pressure which causes tension in the muscles, causing a person to experience pain easily. Stress causes a decrease in blood around the trape zius muscle and increases the flow of electricity so that the muscle contracts and muscle spasms occur. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between academic stress and neck and shoulder pain in final year students at STIKES Karya Husada Kediri. The design of this research is correlational with a cross sectional approach. The population is 176 students, 53 samples were obtained using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Collecting data using PAS (Perception Of Academic Stress) questionnaire and measurement of pain using NRS (Numeric Rating Scale). The results showed that more than half (56.6%) experienced academic stress in the moderate category. And more than half (64.2%) experienced moderate level of neck and shoulder pain. Spearman rank statistical test results obtained p-value of 0.001 < α=0.05 with r: -0.432 with a negative relationship direction, meaning that the higher the academic stress, the lower the neck and shoulder pain. Students experience moderate academic stress due to academic expectations such as competition between students, lecturers' expectations, and high parental expectations of student achievement. It is hoped that students will be able to adapt and divide their time and manage stress by improving their coping strategies.

Abstract

Balanced nutrition is when humans consume food that provides sufficient nutrition to meet the body's needs without excess or deficiency of nutrients. A balanced diet should include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals in the right proportions according to the body's needs. By consuming a balanced diet, you can support body functions, maintain a healthy body weight, and prevent various nutrition-related diseases. If nutritional needs are met, remember to maintain proper dental health. However, most of the children of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Malaysia experience a knowledge crisis, which results in children not caring about their nutritional intake and several times neglecting to clean their teeth properly. So, educational activities are carried out regarding balanced nutrition and how to clean teeth properly to increase children's sense of concern for their bodies with the hope that children will have better habits in the future. The learning method begins with education about balanced nutrition with lectures, followed by coloring pictures of fruits and vegetables together. After education about balanced nutrition, it continued with an explanation of how to brush your teeth properly, assisted by using a dental phantom. After the activities, the children better understood the importance of nutritional intake for the body and proper tooth-brushing techniques. This activity needs to be continued with a more creative and innovative delivery method to children to achieve the goal that PMI children in Malaysia have a high level of concern for themselves, especially in the health sector.

Abstract

First aid in child choking is an essential skill that everyone should have, especially children who are a vulnerable group to choking events that can be fatal. This study aims to analyze the educational strategies of grade 2 children at Sekolah Indonesia Singapura (SIS) in dealing with choking situations. The service method includes delivering material through interactive lectures, practical demonstrations, and role plays. The intervention results showed increased children's knowledge and skills in recognizing signs of choking and appropriate first aid steps. This condition reinforces the importance of early first aid education in reducing the risk of accidents in children. These skills can also be applied in the surrounding environment, including at home and in public places. Children's education strategies effectively improve children's safety in dealing with choking events.

Abstract

First Aid is an aid for emergency treatment of victims before help is provided by medical personnel. Injuries can occur anywhere, the location of injuries often occurs especially in the home and school environment. School-age children are a group that is vulnerable to injury, especially when entering celementary school. Injuries can become an emergency case and cause serious injuries and even death if not handled properly. To prevent injuries in children from getting worse, one of the methods that can be used to treat is the RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) method, which can first rest the injured part, apply an ice pack to reduce swelling, bandage the injured skin and elevate the injured area above the height of the heart area. First Aid community service with the RICE method at Sekolah Indonesia Singapura (SIS) is a positive activity that aims to increase children's knowledge and ability to perform first aid when injured or when children know other people are injured. The method used is counseling about first aid for injuries using the RICE method, demonstrating and distributing leaflets. The results of the analysis of children's ability to understand first aid material when injured with the RICE method before and after education is 30 (with an average pre test score of 70 and post test 100).  The increase in participants' knowledge proves that with this counseling participants become more aware of what is related to first aid during injuries that can be treated with the RICE method to prevent more severe injuries.
