Abstract

after the fall out of New Order and entering reformation era, women’s conventional organization face a reality of contestationgender construct from all side, include NGO and other groups like Islam conservative group that want total separation of women and mendomain. State cant become ‘patron’ to justify an idealized gender constructs. In this context, Aisyiyah have to option: first, still as organizationthat based on purely practical issues with the consequence labeled as ‘status quo’ and conservative organization. Second, Aisyiyah have toopen itself to reality of social injustice than conserve ‘idealization of serene family’. Third, Aisyiyah have thrown away administrative routinethat depleted much energy. Fourth, Aisyiyah have to respond to women strategic issues, nationally or internationally

Abstract

Breast milk, especially if it is given exclusively is the best first food for babies after birth. Babies will get a sufficient intake ofnutrients and essential substances such as immune substances so that he can grow normally both physically and psychologically. For themother who gives breast to her baby will get positive benefits for the health of post-childbirth. Some issues become an obstacle in the field sothat not all babies get the best food. Message of the Qur’an is therefore important to note that in addition to containing directives life, thereare practical solutions to problems such as breast-feeding mothers who can not breast-feeding her child with the mother dairy.

Abstract

Between men and women really are not too many differences. In the eyes of Allah SWT, the male and femaleundifferentiated. Teir good or bad, only determined by their taqwa. However, in everyday life, women are often regarded as second class.According to the author, that statement is an implication of superiority of men, not a theological view, but more to the sociological. Menwith avariety of interpretations all the way to prove to the public that women are second class. Obviously, this understanding needs to be reviewedto find the real truth. This paper describes some misinterpretation of the Koran. The actual interpretation based only on the superiority ofmen. Therefore, the need for reading by using hermeneutics to understand the truths contained in them.

Abstract

One of the purposes of the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) is to pursue the gender equality and womenempowerment to eradicate the gender gap. In general, there has been existed partnership between men and women in daily living. Theaims of the study were to analyze: (1) The characteristics of the undergraduate students, (2) The characteristics of the students’ family(parents’ education, parents’ occupation, and family income), and (3) the perception of students toward gender roles in domestic and publicsocialactivities. Results pointed out that women are viewed by community as actors who have roles in expresssive figures and havefunctions as care taker and educator of the family, while men are viewed by community as actors who have roles in instrumental figures andhave functions as main breadwinner. Women have more gender perspective than men. It means that women have thought in more flexibleways that gender roles could be changed and exchanged between men and women. Based on the Spearmen correlation test, it showed thatthe more individual has gender perspectives in domestic gender roles, the more that individual has gender perspectives in public and socialroles, and vice versa. Finally, there was indication that the higher the social status of the father, then the more perception of the father towardpublic and social roles that tended to be part of the men’s roles rather than women’s roles, as patriarchy system placed men to be mainbreadwinners.

Abstract

Poverty is a crucial problem for every nation that not only affects to the failure of fulfilling the basic rights of people to live indignity but also reinforce unjust practices. One of the unjust forms in poverty is gender. Social burden in each poverty dimension includingeconomic, social, cultural, and political structural dimensions is borne disproportionately by men and women. Women groups bear theburden of the social impact of poverty much higher than men. This condition is further exacerbated by the initiation of intervention in order toreduce the obstacles of poverty which is more projected on a particular group. As a social construction, the difference in gender has beenproved by the contribution to social injustice not only for women but also for men. This gender difference becomes a source of injustice formen and women in their families, society, and state. In advance stage, this may justify gender bias in the systems of distributing authority,division of labor, ownership, and distribution resource. Therefore, the changing gender construction is an urgent need. This context becomesthe intersection between poverty and gender inequality as a perspective to analyze national problem. The program which is designed toreduce poverty is not only oriented to overcome the obstacles of poverty in its various dimensions, but also to transform gender constructionwhich can represent equality and justice

Abstract

In practice, marriage isn't always going smooth as planned before. Many kinds problems or will tend to test the strength of amarriage. Therefore, at some point, the only solution provided is a divorce. In a divorce, wife undergoes iddah time as waiting time to givechance to this couple to unite again (rujuk). In Islamic law, iddah time have several condition. These are appropriated with situation andcondition they face. However, iddah time only applied for women. This article aimed to explore why iddah only allied to women.

Abstract

This paper discusses the dynamics of polygamy in Indonesia, both as discourse and in the application form. Polygamy as adiscourse has undergone an extraordinary debate among pros and cons. Meanwhile, polygamy in the application in everyday life haveexperienced abuses the intent of the parties who benefited, namely the male. Therefore, the need for solutions related to polygamy inaccordance with the rule. In this paper, the authors not only discuss again about polygamy in Indonesia, but also has a solution in the form oflaw, both Islamic and universal. The author provides solutions based on normative and sociological analysis that has a humanist andtheological relationships.
