Abstract

Abstractlimestone powder has been the traditional material used incontrolling the segregation potential and deformability of fresh selfcompacting concrete (SCC). This paper deals with the utilization ofalternative materials, such as quarry dust, for SCC applications. Thisexperimental tests aimed to observe the effects of stone dust role inSCC, that utilized by addition and partial replacement ranging from 0%.12,5%, 25% and 37,5% based on the weight of portland cernentmaterial. The tests were done on compressive strength and splittingtensile strength using three standard cylinder specimens for each data.Test results indicate that stone dust could improve the compressivestrength of see by addition method with the optimum dosage in 25°/~addition by weight of cement, but all test results indicate that stone dustwill decrease the splitting tensile strength of see both in addition andpartial replacement method. Keywords: self compacting concrete, filler, stone dust.compressive strength, splitting tensile strength.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn this year, landslide disaster such as embankment slide, bankslide, or buried of soil (trash) often occurs. All of them begin with asimple problem, that is infiltration of rain water (or other) into soil causingthe decrease of shear strength, finally passed the limit of landslide safetyfactor F, so landslide occurs. The research tries to know the behavior ofclayey-mud soil with several ratio of clay content and several watercontent ratio to find out how much clay content and water content (w)may induce soil collapse. This experiment research was conducted in the soil laboratoryUNY using clayey-mud soil from Klaten which has been conditioned inseveral clay content (00/0-400/0) and water content w (20%-30%) andthen direct shear tests were applied. The product of this experimentwere: cohesion (c), internal soil shear angle, phi (p), and safety factor oflandslide (F).This research has resulted: (1) For pure mud soil, until 25% watercontent, would decrease of cohesion (interlocking), but 25% watercontent, interlocking (cohesion) would constant. The maximum cohesion(interlocking)(0.09 kg/cm2) reaches at 20% of water content (2) Forpure mud soil, increasing of water content until 30% would increase of pand F. The maximum p value (41.8°) occur at 30% water content (at 0%clay content); (3) For clayey-mud soil, increasing of water contentcauses increasing or constant of cohesion. The cohesion would increaseif 10%-20% clay content. The c value until 0.0665 kg/cm2 at 30% watercontent (at 100/0 clay content); and (4) For clayey-mud soil, increasing ofwater content (until 25%) would increase of p and F. The p value coulduntil 40.9° at w=25% (at 10% clay content). If w25%, the value of pand F would decrease. The p value until 7.7° at w=300/0 (at 40% claycontent). Keywords: mud. clay, soil, water content, cohesion, landslide.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe crowded phenomenon is made in most of the city now. Thecities sustainable grow and develop to be metropolitan, and just, megapolitan. It makes the farm field change to be houses, buildings, roads and other public facilities of the city. Such of that growth will affectthe land can't be returned to be farm field (irreversible process). It is themost easy to grow the city horizontally, but the land have its limitedness. This paper explores some city development, especially on the basis ofland limitation. It is the responsibility of architectural realm on the, increasing of environment qualitiesKey words: crowded, irreversible, land, model

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research is aimed to know the process of wave diffractionaround the large cylinder of offshore structure using finite elementmethod. This model chosen because of some reasons, i.e thecomplication of offshore structure's shape which are caused difficultiesto conduct physical model solving. The other excess of this numericalmodel is cheaper and easier than physical model conducted in thelaboratorium. The equation of wave diffraction can be formulated as Helmholtzequation. A second approach can be developed by Mild Slope Equation, which is assumed that the depth is constant. The Helmholtz equationwas done using finite element method with linear triangle interpolation. With finite element method, the complicated domain area can be solvedmore easily and effectively. The result shows that the use of finite element method is stilladequate to solve Helmholtz equation' for period 8, 9 and 10 second. For period of 8 second numerical error produce the wave heightdifference of 0,36 m. The numerical model is then easily edited toanalyze another offshore structures. Keywords: diffraction, cyllinder, finite element
