Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims at improving the students competence on electronic power system course through the implementation of E-Learning to prepare teacher candidates for vocational school with international standard. The reserach method was action reserach with E-Learning. The implementation of E-learning and classroom were conducted simultaneously. The planned action, excuted action and devloped action referred to Elliot’s model of action research. In order to achieve better result, several modification and adaptation were formulated based on need and condition. The reserach result showed that E-learning implementation on electronic power system course had successfully implemented on even semester in the academic year of 2011/2012. The site of E-learning for electronic power system can be accessed at http://besmart.uny.ac.id. The learning process with E-learning gave a positive contribution for both E-learning system and the learning process. It was indicated by the increase of student attandence, students’attention, task completion, students’respond, more time for learning, and task exercise. The learning process with e-learning also gave positive influence on the students’ability which was indicated on the score improvement of pre-test and post-test from 57,11 into 71,4.   Keywords: e-learning, electronic power system, action reserach

Abstract

ABSTRAK Beberapa mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menguasai sistem hidrolik dan pneumatik dikarenakan kesulitan dalam membayangkan atau mengimajinasikan gerakan-gerakan komponen sistem hidrolik dan pneumatik. Hal ini mengakibatkan hambatan pada penguasaan desain dan aplikasi sistem hidrolik dan pneumatik. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut dosen pengajar mata kuliah Mekatronika menggunakan aplikasi Automation Studio. Software ini membantu dalam desain berbagai automasi, seperti kombinasi sistem hidrolik, sistem pneumatik, sistem elektrik dan PLC. Ceramah dosen dan simulasi desain yang dilakukan mahasiswa menggunakan bantuan Automation studio. Secara umum, mahasiswa sangat terbantu dengan software tersebut. Di sisi lain, ditemukan permasalahan dalam pengaplikasian program Automation Studio di kelas, misalnya terbatasnya menu program dan permasalahan seputar terbatasnya jumlah komputer. Implikasi dari pengalaman penulis dalam menggunakan Automation Studio adalah terbukanya peluang bagi para programer komputer untuk menciptakan program/software pembelajaran yang relevan dengan kompetensi tertentu, terjangkau, dan mudah digunakan. Selain itu disarankan juga agar dosen dan mahasiswa melakukan persiapan atau pengkondisian sebelum perkuliahan berjalan berkaitan dengan penyiapan software yang akan digunakan selama kuliah berlangsung.   Kata Kunci: automation studio program, learning process, Pneumatic and hydraulic learning

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis reserach aims at accelerating the mastery of teaching skills by involving the students as supervisor on Micro Teaching course. This reserach can be catagorized as action research with Kurt Lewin Model which consisted of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The reserach subject was the students of Automotive Engineering Education Faculty of Engineering Yogyakarta State University who joined Micro Teaching corse in the academic year of 2010/ 2011. This reserach was conducted on April to May 2011. The reserach instruments were using observation sheet and evaluation sheet for learning process. The actions were catagorized successful if at least 65% of the students of Micro Teaching course obtained the score of 81 or more before the final week of the course. Data analysis technique was using comparative-quantitaive technique. The result showed that 1) by triggering the students to be a supervisor, the students became aware of teacher role that made their teaching performance better. The students obtained better score where the score of 81 or more (66.6%) than last semester (55.5%), 2) The interval to obatain target score can be accomplished faster than the last semester, 3) There were also other positive effects of giving the role of supervisor for the students, i.e. trained the students to give opinion (verbal). The students become accustomed to speak fluently, as required for being teacher.    Keywords: teaching skills, students role, supervisorABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui apakah dengan melibatkan maha-siswa peserta kuliah Pengajaran Mikro secara aktif sebagai supervisor dapat mempercepat penguasaan keterampilan mengajar bagi mahasiswa peserta kuliah Pengajaran Mikro. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Kurt Lewin, yang meliputi empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Teknik Otomotif  Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta peserta Pengajaran Mikro Tahun Akademik 2010/2011. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan April dan Mei 2011. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa Lembar Observasi dan Lembar Evaluasi proses pembelajaran. Tindakan yang dilakukan dikategorikan berhasil apabila sekurang-kurangnya 65% mahasiswa peserta kuliah Pengajaran Mikro memperoleh nilai 81 atau lebih, yang dicapai sebelum minggu terakhir perkuliahan di semester genap 2010/2011. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik komparatif-kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Dengan mengaktifkan mahasiswa untuk ikut menjadi supervisor, menjadikan mahasiswa tahu apa yang harus dilakukan pada saat mahasiswa tersebut melaksanakan praktik mengajar, sehingga kemampuan mengajarnya menjadi lebih cepat meningkat dan men-jadi lebih baik. Nilai yang diperoleh mahasiswa juga menjadi lebih baik, dalam arti mahasiswa yang memperoleh nilai bagus meningkat jumlahnya. Mahasiswa yang memperoleh nilai 81 atau lebih, sebesar 66,6%, sedangkan pada semester yang sama tahun sebelumnya sebesar 55,5%. 2) Waktu yang diperlukan untuk mencapai target nilai yang ditetapkan, dapat ditempuh dengan waktu yang lebih cepat, yaitu sekitar dua minggu lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan semester genap tahun sebelumnya. 3) Dengan melibatkan mahasiswa sebagai supervisor diperoleh pula manfaat yang lain, yaitu mahasiswa berlatih mengeluarkan pendapat dengan cara lisan (berbicara). Ini mempunyai efek, mahasiswa menjadi terbiasa untuk berbicara, sehingga bicaranya lancar, sesuai yang dibutuhkan oleh seorang guru.Kata kunci: keterampilan mengajar, peran mahasiswa, supervisi

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of the research are to review the application strategies of semi-research learning on the students’ understanding of the characteristics of engineering materials and to reveal the role of the students. Also, to determine whether there was any significant difference on the students’ understanding whowere taught by using semi-research learning compared to the conventional one. The research method was quasi-experimental model with parallel or equivalent group, the experimental group and the control group. Each group got pretest before and posttest after the treatment. The study was conducted in Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University from September till November 2012 among 160 students of the first semester  in academic year of 2012-2013. This study was using cluster sampling method by taking one class as control group and one class for experimental group. Data analysis techniques were using descriptive analysis and T-Test. Semi-research learning for the understanding on the characteristics of engineering materials can be conducted through the students’ research assignment. The students were given chance to review based on the literature and to prove through their autonomous research. After they completed their research process, they were asked to have presentation while the lecturer role as the facilitator. Most of the students were glad with this strategy because it made them as active learner to search, explore, prove and utilize their review. This learning model demanded the students to be active, independent, serious, and able to work together, to solve problems based on facts as well as scientific evidence. Also, there was significant difference on the students’ understanding of the characteristics of engineering materials, who were taught by using semi-research compared to the conventional method with the score of mean difference of 10 from 0-70 scale.  Similarly, there was a difference from the mean improvement of 10 points.  Keywords: Semi-research,students’ understanding of nature of engineering materials

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims at: (1) finding out the teacher efforts to integrate entrepreneurship learning in vocational schools into the curriculum in order to create effective learning process based on the national standard of the education and learning process, (2) finding out the entrepreneurship learning model in vocational schools which is able to give illustration process and resulting in significant entrepreneurship education showing the benefits than theothers models. This study was using survey method. The study was conducted in vocational schools around Yogyakarta Special Region. The study was in March until October 2012. The samples of the study were SMKN 1 Temanggung, SMKN IV Surakarta and SMKN 1 Buduran, Sidoarjo. Data collection techniques were (1) observation and (2) questionnaire. The instrument development was from the main variable, i.e. the effort of entrepreneurship learning. The instrument validation was using content and construction validation. Content validation was using to measure the content accuracy of the entrepreneurship learning model aspects while the construction validation was to know the internal consistency. For the reliability, the researchers employed correlation statistic of product moment. The data analysis technique was descriptive statistical analysis. The results of the research were: (1) teachers’ effort to integrate entrepreneurship learning into curriculum to meet the national standard can be categorized as “on progression”, (2) there were some examples of entrepreneurship learning models in vocational schools that were able to show the illustration process and resulted in significant entrepreneurship education, such as: (a) Entrepreneurship Laboratory Model of SMKN IV Surakarta, (b) Project Work Model of SMKN 1 Buduran, Sidoarjo, and (c) Entrepreneurship Bench Mark Learning Model of SMKN 1 Temanggung.Keywords: Learning Effort, Entrepreneurship Learning Method.ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) ditemukan upaya-upaya guru agar pembelajaran kewirausahaan di SMK dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam kurikulum sehingga terjadi proses pembelajaran yang efektif sesuai dengan standar nasional proses pendidikan dan pembelajaran, (2) ditemukan model pembelajaran kewirausahaan di SMK yang dapat memberikan ilustrasi proses dan hasil pendidikan kewirausahaan yang secara signifikan menunjukkan keunggulan dibandingkan dengan yang lainnya.Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan metode survey. Tempat penelitian di SMK-SMK di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta dan sekitarnya.Waktu penelitian bulan Maret 2012 sampai dengan bulan Oktober 2012.Sampel penelitian SMKN I Temanggung, SMKN IV Surakarta, SMKN I Buduran, Sidoarjo. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan: (1) observasi, (2) angket. Pengembangan instrument dari variabel pokok yaitu upaya pembelajaran kewirausahaan.Validitas instrument digunakan validitas isi dan validitas konstruksi.Validitas isi untuk mengukur ketepatan isi dari aspek-aspek model pembelajaran kewirausahaan.Sedangkan validitas konstruksi untuk mengukur konsistensi internal. Reliabilitas digunakan  statistik  korelasi product momen. Metode analisis data digunakan analisis statistik diskriptif.Simpulan penelitian: (1) upaya guru agar pembelajaran pendidikan kewirausahaan dapat menyatu ke dalam kurikulum sehingga sesuai dengan bunyi standar nasional secara keseluruhan dalam katagori diupayakan, (2) tersedia beberapa contoh model pembelajaran kewirausahaan di SMK yang dapat memberikan ilustrasi proses dan hasil pendidikan kewirausahaan yang secara signifikan menunjukkan keunggulan dibandingkan dengan yang lainnya, yaitu: (a) Entrepreneurship Laboratory Model di SMK N IV Surakarta, (b) Project WorkModel SMK N 1 Buduran, Sidoarjo, dan (c) Entrepreneurship Bench Mark Learning Model SMK N 1 Temanggung.Kata kunci: Upaya pembelajaran, Model pembelajaran kewirausahaan.

Abstract

ABSTRACTStudents find it difficult to master the hydraulic and pneumatic system due to the lack of imagination on the component movement. It affects students’ learningprocess on the hydraulic and pneumatic system application. In order to solve the problem, the lecturer of Mechatronics course used the Automation Studio application. This software was helpful to design various automations, such as combination of hydraulic system, pneumatic system, electric system, and PLC. The lecturing process and design simulation were conducted by using Automation Studio. In general, the students were so much helped by this program in mastering the theory and practice of hydraulic and Pneumatic. On the other hand, it was found some problem in applying the Automation Studio on the classroom. The problems were limited onthe menu option as well ason the technical aspects related to the number of the computer. The implications from the writers’ experience in using Automation Studio were there was an opportunity for computer programmer to create learningmedia/ software for certain competence which was relevant, accessible and applicable. Also, in case of software preparation, it should be conducted by the lecturers and the students before the learning process.Keywords: automation studio program, learning process, Pneumatic and hydraulic learning

Abstract

AbstractProgram Logic Controller is subject that many complaints by students of Department of Mechanical Engineering FT-Unesa. This is due to the lack of learning devices are used so that learning becomes less favorable and become passive. This study aims to develop computer-based learning device mechatronics subject-oriented programmable logic controller directly on student learning Mechanical Engineering Department Unesa FT. This study was conducted in two phases. Phase I, the development of the learning refers to the design of the Model 4D Thiagarajan (1974), Phase II, trial learning in the classroom using a design of one group pretest-posttest design. The findings of the study: (1) an average score of 3.32 learning assessment tools (pretty good), (2) average scores on tests of learning implementation I of 3.59 (good) and trials II of 3.70 (both ), (3) student learning outcomes of cognitive and psychomotor aspects have achieved individually and classical mastery, (4) students showed a positive response to the stated learning tehadap interested, excited, and motivated to attend lectures mechatronics; activity of the most dominant college students are discussin /practices relevant to teaching and learning that is on trial I is 36.46% and trials II 38.19%. Based on the analysis of data, it can be concluded that the developed learning feasible for use in lectures mechatronics. Implementation of the computer-based learning mechatronics subjects PLC can improve the quality of teaching and learning, as students showed a positive response, implementation category learning and learning outcomes both cognitive and psychomotor aspects of students have achieved mastery individually and classical. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Integration of ICT in this life, nowadays,has given many changes including in the education field. The use of ICT offers many opportunities for better learning experience. It becomes a challenge to realize the integration of technology and learning process. The following conclusions had been reached from this paper: (1) some potential benefits of ICT for education were to enable the lifelong learning; to change the role of teachers and the role of students; to provide a public access for material content and interactive information through the network; to overcome the constraints of time and space in the learning environment; to reinforce the organization and learning management, and to create collaboration between teachers and students (2) realizing knowledge-based society, several actions need to be conducted, such as ensuring that everyone had ICT competencies and developed the other key competencies through ICT to participating in the community; setting the learning goals for the emancipation and empowerment as well as improving ICT literacy as part of the continous lifelong learning (3) the internalization process on ICT learning can be transformed by promoting as cultural activities in the school environment through the integration of educational values in the learning materials, thus, habituation, assignment, and role modelling being integral and holistic, which was continuously being part of learning, understanding, practicing in the daily life (4) implementation strategy and professional development in ICT field should refer to the teaching and learning activities. The indicators that should be developed were: accessibility indicator, output indicators and impact indicators. Directed and systematic policy can refer to the level of ICT-Based School, namely: Precursor, Basic, Intermediate, and Well-established where each level was determined from the factors of infrastructure, human resources, content, learning, as well as policy and program.Keywords: ICT integration, implementation strategy

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aims at producing learning model for Measurement-Based Interactive to improve the students’ learning outcomes and their autonomy in the VII grade of Junior High School. This research was conducted in the Junior High Schools at Bandung City by using Research and Development approach. The research stages were preliminary study, development, and testing. The instruments for preliminary study were literature review and observation. For development model was initial drafting of the model, limited trials, and the expanded trial. The validation process was pre-test and post-test treatment by using matching pretest-posttest control group. This research was using experiential learning cycle from the theory of Kolb (1994). The characteristics were (1) integrating the students’ initial experience and their scientific experience, (2) work based laboratory, (3) cooperative learning in social context, (4) ensuring the mastery of basic competence of current measurement, meter and kilogram. The result of effectiveness testing showed that Measurement-Based Interactive learning model can improve the students learning outcome and autonomy. The highlight of important findings were (1) this model can improve students’ learning competence on cognitive aspect, (2) students’ soft skills can improve their ability to cooperate, to communicate and to train their creative thinking, (3) the ability to implement various creative capabilities in conducting worksheets. The recommendations for teacher, school administrator, and government were (1) Interactive Multimedia through attractive animations design can improve the learning quality which made the students serious and not getting bored, (2) this model was designed comprehensively and in details to make the content easy to understand, (3) Interactive Multimedia with communicative language and interesting illustrations can stimulate the students to learn independently, (4) It can improve learning outcomes and the students can easily check their own progress, (5) every segment of this model was completed with reinforcement to improve the learning quality.Keywords: Learning Model, Interactive Multimedia, Experiential Learning Cycle.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan model pembelajaran Pengukuran berbasis multimedia interaktif  yang dapat meningkatkan hasil dan kemandirian belajar siswa di SMP kelas VII. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP di Kota Bandung menggunakan pendekatan research and development. Proses dilaksanakan melalui tahapan: studi pendahuluan, pengembangan, dan pengujian. Instrumen yang digunakan pada tahap studi pendahuluan adalah studi pustaka dan survei lapangan; tahap pengembangan model dilakukan berupa penyusunan draf awal model, uji-coba terbatas, dan uji-coba diperluas; tahap validasi model berupa eksperimen pre-test treatment post-test dengan menggunakan matching pretest-posttest control group design. Penelitian ini menggunakan profil model pembelajaran experiential learning cycle dari teori belajar Kolb (1994) dengan karakteristik: (1) mengintegrasikan pengalaman awal siswa dengan pengalaman scientific (ilmiah), (2) belajar sambil bekerja (work-base laboratory), (3) pendidikan yang bersifat kooperatif (bekerja sama) dalam konteks sosial, dan (4) menjamin penguasaan kompetensi dasar pengukuran arus, meter, kilogram yang memadai. Hasil uji efektivitas melalui model pembelajaran berbasis multimedia interaktif  dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar dan kemandirian belajar siswa. Beberapa temuan terpenting adalah: (1) model ini dapat meningkatkan kompetensi belajar siswa pada ranah kognitif, (2) melalui perangkat lunak keterampilan siswa dapat meningkatkan kemampuan bekerjasama dalam kelompok belajar, melatih berfikir kreatif, dan berkomunikasi, (3) mampu menerapkan berbagai kemampuan dengan terampil ketika mengerjakan LKS. Beberapa rekomendasi penelitian untuk guru, sekolah, pemerintah adalah: (1) Multimedia interaktif melalui animasi yang didisain secara menarik mampu meningkatkan pembelajaran, sehingga siswa serius menyimak pelajaran dengan baik dan tidak membosankan, (2) Multimedia interaktif ini didisain berdasarkan bagian-bagian dan penggalan-penggalan menjadi unit terkecil, sehingga siswa dengan mudah dapat memahami isi materi yang disampaikan, (3) Multimedia interaktif dengan bahasa yang komunikatif dan mengandung ilustrasi-ilustrasi menarik akan efektif untuk disimak, sehingga merangsang siswa untuk belajar mandiri, (4) multimedia interaktif ini dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar, sehingga siswa dengan mudah dapat mengecek keberhasilannya secara mandiri, (5) multimedia interaktif ini setiap bagian/penggalan ada reinforcement (penguatan), sehingga siswa akan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajarnya.Kata Kunci: Model Pembelajaran, Multimedia Interaktif, Experiential Learning  Cycle.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe development of students’ final project through Project-based Learning (PBL)approach was conducted in the workshop of family resource management (FRM) in 7th semester.PBL approach is expected to give contribution to students’ motivation and experience to finish their final assignments of FRM workshop. The objectives of the research are to: (1) develop PBL model for the students’final project; (2) produce learning instruments of PBL such as lesson plans, manual of FRM workshop, and scientific report of FRM workshop. The method of the study was using research and development of Plomp model and quasi experiment for testing the effectiveness of the model. The research subjects were the students from the class of 2009 and 2010 who joined FRM workshop course. The study produced model, lesson plans, and manual of FRM workshop as the outputs. The result showed that project based learning model was effective to improve the students’ generic green skills for project management, collaborative skills, and communicative competence.Keywords: final project, generic green skill, family resource management, Project-Based Learning
