Abstract

There are two types of shallot planting systems in Sudimoro Village: the conventional system and the Automatic solar blue light trap system. The conventional system is planting shallots with the general treatment being to apply only synthetic chemical pesticides, while the Automatic solar blue light trap system is planting shallots by applying synthetic chemical pesticides and applying Automatic solar blue light traps. The purpose of this study was to compare the conventional system of shallot farming and the automatic solar blue light trap application system in Sudimoro Village. The population of this study was all shallot farmers in Sudimoro Village, which amounted to 9 farmers, consisting of 5 conventional farmers and 4 farmers applying Automatic solar blue light traps. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The results of this study can be seen that the value of the R/C ratio of the conventional system is 1.33, while the system applies the Automatic solar blue light trap 3.36. These results indicate that both shallot farming systems are feasible to cultivate. While the value of the B/C ratio for the conventional system is 0.33, while the system applies the Automatic solar blue light trap 2.36, these results indicate that the shallot farming in Sudimoro Village, the conventional system is not feasible to continue, while the system applying the Automatic solar blue light trap is feasible to be continued.

Abstract

This study aims to identify value chain of strategic agricultural commodities in East Java. In addition, this study formulate supply chain optimization of strategic agricultural commodities in East Java. This study uses several analysis approaches, namely 1) input output analysis; 2) supply chain descriptive analysis, 3) supply chain management institutional pattern analysis, 4) trading margin analysis, 5) value chain analysis, 6) root problem analysis; and 7) Process Hierarchy Analysis (AHP).The results of this study indicate that there are three strategic commodities in East Java, namely sugar cane, cayenne pepper and corn. These strategic agricultural commodities have a fairly long supply chain. On average, producers (farmers/breeders) receive the lowest price margins among other supply chain actors. Collectors and wholesalers are known to receive the most margins.

Abstract

Since 2016, cattle farmers in Municipio Bobonaro and Municipio Covalima have carried out IB for their livestock, although there are still some farmers who do not or cannot do due to lack of access. This is related to the motivation of farmers with artificial insemination programs. The aim of our study was to determine the level of motivation regarding the cattle artificial insemination (IB) program, the level of adoption of IB program and to analyze the relationship between farmer characteristics and motivation regarding the IB program and the level of adoption of IB program innovation in cattle business in the municipality of Bobonaro and Covalima municipality. This research was conducted using a survey method approach and was carried out in the Municipio Bobonaro and Municipio Covalima. A total of 44 farmers participated in the program were included in the sample using a census strategy. Chi squared correlations, Spearman Rho, and quantitative descriptive analysis were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the level of motivation of farmers regarding the artificial insemination program included high criteria, while the level of innovation adoption of artificial insemination programs included medium criteria. Experience of raising cattle had a significant relationship with the motivation of farmers.

Abstract

An increase will follow the increase in population in an area in the rate of increase in the labor force. This will develop problems caused by the lack of functioning of various sectors so that the readiness of employment opportunities is not commensurate with the population growth rate. With the agricultural sector, people can get food as their basic need. The potential of the agricultural sector can be seen from the value of exports, the area of agricultural land, and the wages of the agricultural sector. The purpose of this study is "Analyze the Potential of the Agricultural Sector and Its Effect on Labor Absorption in Aceh Province". This study uses multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the estimation results, it is found that the value of exports, the area of agricultural land, and the wages of the agricultural sector have a positive and significant effect on employment in Aceh Province. This means that any increase in the value of agricultural exports, the area of agricultural land and wages in the agricultural sector will increase the absorption of labor in Aceh Province.

Abstract

Jambewangi village cocoa farmers market their cocoa beans individually and in small quantities, so they’re in a low bargaining position. In addition to not optimally the role of each institution, they also haven’t coordinated and cooperated to promote cocoa. Researchers need to research to design institutional synergies in the agribusiness supply chain. The research was conducted in Jambewangi villages, the center of cocoa production in Banyuwangi. The supply chain design is based Soft System Methodology (SSM) approach through information from sources, farmers, and experts. Based on the SSM analysis, it can be concluded that: 1. There is a fundamental problem with the cocoa in Jambewangi village that farmers only produce unfermented cocoa beans, and sell them individually, so their bargaining position is low. Several institutions in the village haven’t played an optimal role in joint marketing, 2. There is no synergy between institutions at the farmer level, so they can’t protect farmers in their bargaining position. 3. If supply chain actors synergize and carry out their respective roles in the supply chain, uniform, and SNI-standardized cocoa beans can be produced and are able to produce processed chocolate products such as butter, chocolate bars, and powder.

Abstract

Red pepper is a horticulture commodity that has fluctuating prices in the market. The fluctuating price is affected by the availability of the peppers. Meanwhile, the availability of red peppers depends on production activities at the farm level. However, farmers require a big capital to produce these red peppers. Inadequate capital leads to low crop production, which is a common problem among these farmers. Farmer financing is done to overcome this low crop production, one of which is channelling credit to them. Although this credit facility has been provided, only a few farmers used it. Therefore, it is necessary to research the factors that influence Indonesian red pepper farmers’ decisions to use credit. This study uses a binary logistic regression model to determine factors that influence red pepper farmers’ decisions to use credit in Indonesia to use credit. The results revealed that farm location, age, formal education, gender, cooperative membership, farmers group membership, partnership, agricultural extension, and machinery significantly influenced the farmers’ decision to take credit as a capital resource.

The results of the study showed that the factors studied, namely age, education, land area, the role of extension workers, and assistance for farming facilities had a simultaneous effect on farmers' interest in soybean cultivation according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) with an F-count of 3.323 (Sig 0.015) and coefficient of determination (R2) 32.2%. The factor that partially has a significant effect on farmers' interest in soybean cultivation according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is the education factor. The results of the study are used to develop plans for empowerment activities. Empowerment activities have succeeded in increasing the knowledge of farmers by 53.61% and attitudes by 14.45%.

Abstract

The scarcity of fertilizers provides an opportunity for startup businesses to provide alternative organic fertilizers. PTC Organic is one of the pioneering business startups in producing alternative fertilizers that utilize livestock waste as the main ingredient in the form of egg shells, chicken bones, and beef bones that involve a series of processes so that they become available nutrients for plants. The research method used is descriptive-analytic using the Bussiness Model Canvas (BMC) method and SWOT analysis. Abstract

The growth of hydroponic vegetable businesses in Pontianak City drives producers to compete by improving their quality to keep old consumers and expand to new consumers. The research used a survey method with a sampling technique using non-probability techniques, with the sample taken using a purposive sampling approach. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis methods, Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). The Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) results explain that the attributes that must improve are the location of sales and sales promotions such as discounts and prizes. The Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) value ranged between 0.66-0.80 by 0.79. The overall attributes of hydroponic vegetables in Pontianak City can be said to have satisfied consumers.
