Abstract

Processing an image is a process and image analysis which entangling many visual perceptions and in course have some characteristics of input data and output information in binding digital image. Process of changing measure for an image through magnification of resolution or measure often needed to showing the detail, for demonstration at a physic appliance, and for making of document. At the process on enlarging image resolution, method that would be used in this paper is linear interpolation. Linear Interpolation Method is mathematics algorithm which could be applied to appraise the middle price point through a diametrical line, two successive input point. The system in this paper could process image with algorithm of linear interpolation and become a new photo image with image resolution of pixel larger than the original image. Keywords: image, resolution, linear, interpolation, pixel

Abstract

Wire flame spray process is one of metal coating technique. The flame spray process is basically the spraying of molten metal  onto a surface to provide a coating. Material in wire form is melted in a flame (oxy-acetylene flame most common) and atomized using compressed air to form a fine spray. When the spray contacts the prepared surface of a substrate material, the fine molten droplets rapidly solidify forming a coating.        In this research, commercial steel wire (Fe-C), which has 1.25 mm in diameter, was used as raw material. The wire was heated and melted by two oxy-acetylene nozzles and then sprayed onto steel bar surface to form a coating. Vickers hardness testing and optical microscope were used to define the coating characteristic.        The result shows that the coating has higher hardness number than the substrate material and the intrusion of carbon was founded in the coating microstucture. Keywords: coating process, wire flame spray, oxy-acetylene

Abstract

The aimed of this research are to compare physical dan mechanical properties between raw materials  and  Shielded Metal Arc Steel Weld Metals and to find optimum temperature of annealing. A series of Shielded Metal Arc Steel Weld Metals were made on 3 mm of Thick A 287 carbon steels. The electrode used was E 6013, Ø 3.2 mm. Annealing was performed with three different  temperature were 300°C,  600°C, dan 850°C. The results show that the tensile strength of raw material had the same value with weld metals and weld metals with annealing 300°C and 600°C, but weld metals with annealing 850°C had lower tensile strength. The hardness experiments was used Vickers Micro Hardness. The Hardness number of weld metals was higher than HAZ and raw materials. Weld Metals with annealing 300°C had the highest value. The elongation of weld metals and weld metals with annealing 300°C and 600°C had lower number than raw materials, but weld metals with annealing 850°C had almost the same value of elongation with raw materials. The optimum annealing temperature was 850°C because weld metals with annealing 850°C had high elongation and low tensile strength. Keywords SMAW, Annealing, Vickers Micro Hardness, Tensile Strength, Elongation.

Abstract

Transient phenomena can be happened at electrical equipment, like primary side of transformer, transmission circuit, generator, etc. This condition caused by external or internal trouble of equipment, like short circuit, switching equipment. This condition can be happened in short time and it has big magnitude value, then it will effect to electrical equipment. If the transformer has short circuit trouble, switching trouble, big current will flow to transformer circuit.         This research will count the current transient value at primary side of transformer, by using EMTP (Electromagnetic Transient Program).        Based on the simulation to 21,5 MVA transformer,  1241 A nominal current, this research have result that over load value more than 22,5 MVA will have 1243 A current transient. This value is more than nominal current value of primary side, it caused by, if load have big value and primary current have big value too. Keywords: wool fiber, acrylic, blending process

Abstract

The research about thermoplastic wastes-oil palm fiber wastes composites have been conducted. Thermoplastic wastes has become a serious problem in Indonesia, and oil palm fiber wastes also become a serious problems in palm oil industries. The quantity and abundance of the wastes are very much but their utilization is not optimal yet even has no significant added ,economic values. The research was to utilize thermoplastic wastes and oil palm fiber wastes as the main materials to produce fiberboards. The research yields showed that thermoplastic wastes and oil palm fiber wastes composites could be used to produce fiberboards with very satisfied mechanical properties. The mechanical properties of the product were very satisfied even competitive to similar products in markets. The mechanical properties of fiberboards recommended for many kind of materials application, like in building materials and exterior-interior accessories in many appropriate places. Keywords: thermoplastic waste, oil palm fiber waste, composite, fiberboard

Abstract

An investigation of Congo Red photodegradation using TiO2-Zeolite and UV radiation was performed. TiO2-Zeolite was prepared by dispersing of pillaring solution (in form oligocations of titanium) into suspension of Zeolite. The suspension was stirred and then filtered to separate the solid phase from the filtrate. the solid phase was calcined by microwave oven at 800 Watt for 5 minutes to convert the oligocations into its oxide forms. The calcined product and  unmodified Zeolite were characterized using x-ray diffractometry, FT-IR spectrophotometry, X-ray fluorescence and gas sorption analysis to determine their physicochemical properties.        Photocatalytic activity of TiO2-Zeolite was tested on Congo Red using following method: 50 mg of Zeolite was dispersed into 25 mL of 10-4 M Congo Red. The dispersion was irradiated using 365 nm UV light at room temperature on various irradiation times, i.e. 10,20,30,40 and 60 minutes.  At certain irradiation time, the dispersion was filtered and the filtrate was then analyzed its concentration using UV-vis spectrophotometry method.         Characterization results exhibited that the formation of TiO2 on internal as well as external surfaces of Zeolite could not be detected  with x-ray diffractometry and FT-IR spectrophotometry, however determination of titanium using x-ray fluorescence analysis on the calcined product showed that the concentration of titanium was much higher than Zeolite (0.22% on Zeolite and 12.08% on TiO2-Zeolite). Gas sorption analysis result indicated that the the calcination  resulted in the increase of specific surface area (16,31 m2/g on Zeolite and 100,96 m2/g on TiO2-Zeolite) as well as total pore volume  of calcined product (13,34 mL/Å/g on Zeolite and 57,54 mL/Å/g on TiO2-Zeolite). Photocalytic activitiy test result conducted on that dye showed that ca 99 % of Congo Red was degraded by the system TiO2-Zeolite after UV irradiation for 60 minutes. Keywords: TiO2-Zeolite, photocatalytic, UV-irradiation, Congo Red
