Abstract

Various problems arise and  sunk in traditional boarding school, as if those adapted space and time. Study object of boarding school is always exciting to be revealed, because it always lives to grow and to metamorphose with the spirit of the time. The focus of this study is boarding school traditionalism, especially in the practice of traditional boarding school life among the current change. This study aims to unravel the current traditionalism landscape of boarding school education, as well as answer the various problems highlighting traditional boarding school cubicles.  Students’ receiving systems, learning systems, and management systems that are "completely traditional” to be the identity of traditional boarding school itself (salafiyah). There are four alternative solutions in order that the boarding school traditionalism even survives in the global era, namely to: 1) focus on specific skills, 2) develop entrepreneur; 3) graft schooling institution; 4) institutionalize its boarding school.Keyword: boarding school (pesantren) traditionalism, traditional (salafiyah), and old-fashioned (jumud).

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of poetic influence from Sutardji Calzoum Bachri toward Widi Nugrahani poetry. It includes sound, typography, diction, and theme. It is a qualitative research using structural approach. This research uses textual theory as the main method. Intertextual theory assumes that a literature will have an existence if it gets the meaning, interpretation, and response from the readers. In the intertextual context , poet or writer is also as a reader, the expert reader. The results showed that  Widi Nugrahani poetry consisting of Suratan Tangan, Paraf, Dua Tanda Kemenangan, Sendagu (Sendagurau) has intertextual relationship with Sutardji Calzoum Bachr poetry. From the poetic intertextual relations, it can be revealed that the poetry of  Widi Nugrahani strengthen the aesthetics developed by Sutardji Calzoum Bachri.Keywords: aesthetics, poetry, intertextual, typography, and theme

Abstract

This study describes the statistical literacy skill through lecture with a problem-based learning approach in chemistry students of state Islamic university Sunan Kalijaga. The subjects of study are all students who take course in even semester basic statistics of academic year 2012/2013. The result shows that the average statistical literacy is good (76.21) and has reached the minimum indicators of the pre-determined success, as well as to the average ability of solving problem (80.54). Problem-solving abilities include: 1) interpreting the problem, 2) collecting information required in resolving problem; 3) recognizing possible solution and assessing several options, and 4) drawing conclusion, while the statistical literacy includes: 1) interpreting the conclusion; 2 ) critically evaluating conclusion, and 3) communicating information and statistical message. The average ability of problem solving in the first cycle is (73.88), second cycle is (80.98), third cycle is (86.22), and fourth cycle is (81.10). The average of statistical literacy ability in the first cycle is (65.86), second cycle is (80.44), third cycle is (80.88), and fourth cycle is (77.67).Keyword: statistical literacy, university student, and students’ lecture

Abstract

Thisresearchiskind of quasi-experimentalresearchby 3x4 factordesign. The population of thisresearchisallstudents of class VII atthe States Junior High School (SMP Negeri) in Pacitan Regency of 2011/2012 academicyear. The data collectionwasdoneusingquestionnaire, test, anddocumentationtechniques. The problem solvingabilityistestedwithessaytest, whilethepersonalitytypeidentifiedwith a questionnaire. Data analysisusingvariansanalysis (Anava) withdifferentcellssize.The conclusions of thisresearchwere: (1) GI and TAPPS providebetterproblem-solvingabilitythantheconventionallearning model on studentsinjuniorclass VII Pacitan academicyear 2011/2012. However, amongstudentswith GI learningmodelsand TAPPS learningmodels, havethesameproblem-solvingabilities, (2) studentswith artisan typeorrationaltype has better problem solvingabilitybetterstudentswithidealistorguardiantype. However, boththestudentswith artisan andrationaltypehavethesameproblem-solvingabilities. Learnerswithidealistandguardiantypesalsohavethesameproblem-solvingability, (3a) intheclassusingthe GI and TAPPS learning model, problem-solvingabilities of studentswith artisan orrationalpersonalitytypeisbetterwhencomparedtoproblem-solvingabilities of studentswithguardianoridealistpersonalitytype. Eventhough, in a classthatusesconventionallearningmodels, allgroups of personalitytypeshavethesameproblem-solvingability, and (3b) for artisan orrationalpersonality, GI and TAPPS providebetterproblem-solvingabilitythantheconventionallearning model. The inconclusionalllearningmodelsgivethesame problem solvingabilities for idealistorguardianpersonalitytype. Keyword:problem solvingability, GI, TAPPS, personalitytype.

Abstract

Education cost is very important for the continuity of an education board and the smoothness for the students themselves. The education cost should be more human impartial in determining the above education cost by paying attention to the quality, social economical of the society, so that accessibility is till maintained. This deals with the education cost which becomes the central issue in education field. This education cost covers direct cost and indirect cost with the consideration in determining the education cost to be more understandable and empirical rational, so that to be created education life which is much more human and still depends on educational reality which is always concerning with the quality demand and society accessibility. Key word: education cost, direct cost, indirect cost, accessibility, social, economy

Abstract

This article try to explain conception of learning in educational process.  It is important to explore the conception  in order to get good understanding of the meaning which is useful for teachers and other educators, hopefully they could be good teachers, e.g.  they can do teaching learning proses well by application the right concept of learning. As known, there are many cases in our education system which describes problems on achieving quality of  human resources especially low spirit of learning in our country which must be overcome.
