Abstract

The Research on water quality parameters for the cultivation of patin fish (Pangasius pangaisus) in cage in the Kahayan River, aims to determine whether there are changes in water quality for each parameter were observed from March 2011 until March 2012. The results showed the water quality in Kahayan River especially in the fish cages area from March 2011 to March 2012 shows a decrease in water quality parameters: temperature, pH, DO, CO2, ammonia and brightness. This decrease is caused due to high rainfall in 2011 than in 2012 but it is a human activity along the Kahayan River. Although a decline in water quality around fish cages in the Kahayan River, was not too disturbing fish cultivation in the Kahayan River especially for the month of March 2011 until March 2012, meaning that the water quality can still be tolerated by fish.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to obtain data on the selectivity of some fishing gear size several types of fish, the mortality parameter several species of fish, fishing season and yield of some fishing gear. The information is expected to provide fill for the management of Rungan river fishery. Research carried out for 4 months, i.e. May to September 2012. Fish sampling techniques performed in a random way and the records maintained by the respondent. The catch from Upper River shows lower yields than from Lower River and estuary. In terms of size selectivity of the fishing gear, fishing gear Selambau jeopardize the sustainability of fish resources, especially for large fish species such as Baung and Haruan, due to the small size when not had time to reproduce has been caught. Value of the rate of catch for large fish that is high enough are: E = 0.71 for Gabus and 0.57 for Baung . As for small fish such as tambakan, value of catch rate is still low E = 0, 41

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between saluang fish abundance and phytoplankton abundance. The study was conducted at the rainy and dry season in the Rungan river floodplain, Central Kalimantan. 904 fishes (total weight 6642.5 grams) were caught during the study. 54 species of phytoplankton obtained during sampling, which dominated by Chlorophyceae and Bacillariophyceae groups. Regression analysis showed a significant relationship between Saluang fish abundance and Bacillariophyceae abundance (R2 = 82,7% , p = 0,0001). Phytoplankton of Bacillariophyceae can be used as a good predictor for saluang fish abundance in the Rungan river floodplain.

Abstract

Giving ovaprim with different dose levels in the spawning process will affect gonadal maturation process through the control of GnRH and LH release, which hypothalamic GnRH release, further work secreting pituitary luteinizing hormone (LH) which will trigger the final maturation of steroid hormone to gonads. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of LHRHa + stimulant contained in ovaprim with different dose levels in the process of spawning Climbing perch in the peat water. The study design using a completely randomized design for Climbing perch gonadal maturation studies using ovaprim with 4 treatments ( 1 ml , ½ ml, ¼ ml , and 0 ml / kg body weight). The results of the study showed is best to use a dose ¼ ml/kg body weight, that can increase starting time for courtship and spawning (3:30 and 4:30 hours), increase the value of Gonado Somatic Index (GSI) of 3.09% and increase frequency distribution of end fish eggs diameter 0.70 mm of 67.50%.
