Abstract

Conjunctions plays an important role in the delivery of messages through the medium of language. In Japanese there are several kinds of conjunctions, one of which is the continued opposition.  There is a contradiction in conjunction conjunction noni, temo and ga. This study aims to answer the second formulation of the problem, namely (1) whether the type of error made ​​when using gyakusetsu students no setsuzokujoshi (2) whether the cause of the error using gyakusetsu no setsuzokujoshi. This study uses a combination of 2 qualitative and quantitative approaches. The data used as the object of analysis to answer the problem is the result of tests and questionnaires by 33 students of Japanese Literature class of 2008 Univercity of Brawijaya.The results showed that there are 4 types of errors. The type of error is a 71% stacking faults, wrong formations some 22%, the removal of a number of 6%, the addition of a 1%. In addition, also found 4 errors of ignorance will cause restriction rules, one hypothesized concept, excessive generalization and application of the rules is not perfect. Authors suggest further research to analyze more gyakusetsu no setsuzokujoshi like keredomo and shikasi. In addition, to find the cause of the error is not only using a questionnaire but could use the interview as his successor.

Abstract

This paper studies the politeness strategy and the tact maxim of refusal expressions proposed by the author. The study uses qualitative description used to explain the result.  The data source is a Erai Tokoro ni Totsuideshimatta of Japanese drama. Thus, the result of the study was:There were five kinds of politeness strategies to be found in Erai Tokoro ni Totsuideshimatta drama. These strategies consisted of don’t do the FTA (Face Threatening Act) strategy, off record strategy, bald of record strategy, positive politeness strategy, and negative politeness strategy. Combination ofbald of record and negative politeness strategies were also found.Refusal of politeness can be seen from tact maxim and not only from the choice of refusal strategy and politeness strategy. However, the scale of advantage-disadvantage must also be seen in order to find where context would also affect  the value of politeness of a speech.

Abstract

Deixis is a linguistic knowledge that is less familiar to some people. The word is in the sentence or utterance where the meaning is not stable. Deixis is used in several linguistic terms, such as spoken language and written language. In written language, deixis is more difficult because we may not know the speaker and the hearer and the time is also unpredictable unless there is a clue showing the exact time. The writer intends to analyze deixis contained in sentences in the newspaper article. This study is conducted to find out, (1) deixis types contained in sentences in the article, (2) reference deixis in sentences in the article. The writer uses Grundy’s theory. This research is a qualitative study and classified as document analysis because the writer analyzes some sport articles of Jakarta Post newspaper. this study the writer finds 73 sentences containing deixis of the total sentences containing these deixis, person deixis in 40 sentences, place deixis in 10 sentences and time deixis in 23 sentences. In this study, the type of deixis most commonly found is person deixis.   Keywords: Deixis, Types of Deixis and Article.

Abstract

This article argues that implementation of Pre-Islamic tradition and culture emerges subordination toward woman in Saudi Arabia. They face subordination in many aspects of life. This phenomenon can be found in Girls of Riyadh novel. In this novel, Rajaa Alsanea, a Saudi Arabian woman writer tells how women live under male domination. In analyzing the phenomena, the writer used feminist approach by applying feminism theory which is combined with Islamic references to reveal subordination and struggle of woman depicted in the novel. It will focus on subordination of woman and her struggle in marriage matters rather than on other aspects. Keywords: Subordination, Struggle, Woman, Saudi Arabia, Feminism.

Abstract

The writer conducts a study about flouting maxim in ‘Cars 2’ film. There are two problems of the study to be solved, namely: (1) What maxims are flouted by the main characters of the film Cars 2? (2) What is the implied meaning of the flouted maxim from the main characters’ utterances of the film Cars 2? This study uses qualitative approach. While content analysis is used to analyze the conversation between the main characters in ‘Cars 2’ film. This study reveals that only three of four maxims from the cooperative principle are flouted in the film, which are: maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, and maxim of relation. Maxim of quality is mostly flouted by the main characters of the film. The writer suggests the next researchers explore more about cooperative principles such as by combining the cooperative principle with another pragmatics field of study, such as politeness strategies, to reveal the possible relation between these two different principles. Kata kunci: pengabaian maksim, prinsip kooperatif, ilmu pragmatik.

Abstract

This paper studies the problems happen in school that is violence and aggression by student. The study uses social psychology agression to explain the result.  The data source is a Crow Zero of Japanese film. Thus, the result of the study was: Actually aggression behavior came from the conflict of individual person to another, but social psychology proof  that violence aggression is a problem was identified from conflict from group also. It means that problem of aggression behavior was born from grouping student in the school.Look for the result I found two kind of aggression behavior. First is oral aggression, is like verbally attack to another with bad language or high intention. Example is southing, provocate, stupidly call someone, and another thing. Second is physically aggression, is behavior to make another get pain physically. Is like, to make punch, kick, or attack somebody harsly.   Key Word:Psychology, Aggression, Behavior, Violence

Abstract

ABSTRACT Wakamonokotobais the language usedbyyoung Japaneseto communicatewithfriends. One characteristic ofwakamonokotobaisabbreviation. The function of abbreviation is tofacilitate thepronunciationof long words, confidentiality, and strengthen the sense ofsolidarity. Thisstudyis using thequalitativedescriptive. The data source iscomic entitledGals! volume 1. This comiccontainingwakamonokotoba’s expressions for experiencingthe abbreviation.The analysisperformed usingtheidentification of wakamonokotoba’sabbreviation, according totheabbreviationtabulationanddescription of the results. The results showedthat (1)from 35wakamonokotobaexperiencingabbreviation, 17 wordsclassifiedtanshikishouryaku, 11 wordsclassifiedfukushikishouryakuand8 wordsforman exception, (2)on tanshiki shouryakuwere found jouryaku, chuuryaku, geryaku, (3) on fukushiki shouryaku were found, fukushiki shouryaku, a compound word made ​​up of two and three words combined, (4) while the form of exemptions, there are 3 patterns were identified, namely toujigo, the samewordhas twodistinctforms ofshort word,with adifferentformationsbefore. The authorssuggestfor the further researchon the topicwakamonokotobaterms ofwritingoranalysisconstrastivesakasakotobaJapaneselanguagemisfortune. Larasati, Ni Luh. 2013. Unsur Instrinsik dalam cerita pendek Hito fusa No Budou Karya Arishimata Takeo. Program  Studi Sastra Jepang, Universitas Brawijaya.  Pembimbing: (I) Esther Risma Purba (II) Emma Rahmawati Fatimah   Kata kunci: prosa, fiksi, unsur intrinsik    Prosa adalah karya tulis yang yang ditulis menggunakan bahasa tertulis yang biasa bukan dalam bentuk sajak atau drama. Sedangkan fiksi adalah cerita rekaan atau khayalan.  Mengingat pentingnya penerapan unsur instrinsik ke dalam  cerita fiksi, penulis mengadakan penelitian yang terdapat dalam cerita pendek   Hitofusa No Budou.  Cerpen ini menceritakan tentang seorang anak yang tidak berani meminta  apa yang diinginkan sehingga hanya memikirkannya saja  dan dituduh telah menggambil barang milik temannya. Sangat menarik karena menggambarkan bermacam-macam  tokoh, latar, sudut pandang, alur, tema dan amanat sehingga  cocok untuk diteliti dari  unsur intrinsik. Karena itulah penulis ingin menjawab rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini, yaitu bagaimana unsur  instrinsik yang terdapat  dalam cerpen Hitofusa No Budou.  Hasil studi menunjukkan tokoh aku yang karakter pengecut dan iri hati.Tetapi  ditengah-tengah menjadi jahat karena telah menggambil barang milik Jim. Namun akhirnya mnejadi baik. Jim merupakan tokoh yang jahat karena menuduh tokoh aku telah menuduh mengambil alat gambarnya. Namun diakhir cerita menjadi baik. Watak gurunya adalah baik. Sedangkan temannya adalah jahat karena membenci tokoh akau. Alur adalah   flash back. Sedangkan temanya tokoh  yang mengambil barang temannya hanya karena keinginannaya. Sehingga pesan yang dapat diambil adalah  jangan ragu untuk meminta maaf, jujurlah pada apa yang telah diperbuat, hendaknya jangan  terlalu merendahkan diri sendiri, binalah hubungan pertemanan yang baik, jangan terlalu memaksakan kehendak.  Penulis menyarankan agar menggunakan cerpen Hitofusa no budou dengan pendekatan yang lain atau menggunakan unsur instrik dengan menggunakan cepen atau novel yang lain.

Abstract

Komunikasi merupakan hal yang penting. Dalam melakukan komunikasi harus disertai pemahaman yang kuat mengenai apa yang dibicarakan, supaya tidak menimbulkan kesalahan berbahasa, sehingga berakibat kesalahan dalam menyampaikan informasi. Kalimat pasif dalam bahasa Jepang ada beberapa jenis. Sebagai pembelajar bahasa Jepang harus mengetahui perbedaan antara jenis satu dan yang lainnya, perbedaan gramatikal dan maknanya dan perbedaan pemakaiannya. Untuk mengetahui apakah hal tersebut memicu terjadinya kesalahan atau tidak bagi pembelajar bahasa Jepang, penulis melakukan penelitian ini. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data yang diteliti berupa kesalahan-kesalahan yang terdapat pada tes pemakaian kalimat pasif bahasa Jepang pada mahasiswa S1 Sastra Jepang Universitas Brawijaya angkatan tahun 2009. Selanjutnya kesalahan tersebut diidentifikasi jenis dan daerah kesalahannya. Kemudian diperingkat frekuensi kemunculannya dan diambil data yang frekuensinya tinggi untuk dianalisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kesalahan tertinggi pada pemakaian kalimat pasif tidak langsung jenis daisansha no ukemi (pihak tiga) dengan kesalahan pemakaian perubahan kata kerja serta partikel yang mengikuti. Dan kesalahan teringgi kedua pada kalimat pasif langsung jenis mochinushi no ukemi (benda milik) dengan pernyataan subjek dengan benda milik subjek.  Selain itu jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan mahasiswa Sastra Jepang Universitas Brawijaya dalam pemakaian kalimat pasif adalah kesalahan menganalogi, kesalahan penerimaan, kesalahan transfer dan kesalahan pengungkapan. Sedangkan daerah kesalahannya adalah fonologi, morfologi, sintaksis dan semantis. Diharapkan penelitian serupa dapat dilakukan dengan melakukan wawancara, serta memperluas objek penelitian dari berbagai angkatan supaya dapat mengetahui perbedaan ataupun persamaan kesalahan yang mungkin dilakukan oleh mahasiswa yang baru mempelajari kalimat pasif dengan mahasiswa yang sudah lama mempelajarinya.Kata Kunci : Analisis Kesalahan, Kalimat Pasif (Ukemibun)

Abstract

Rap music is one of genre music which is pioneered by Black people. Black people play an important role in rap music. Even, almost all of rap musicians are Black people. But, this condition does not make Jimmy Smith’s character as White American become pessimist to be a talented rapper. Jimmy knows what he must to do to be a rapper and struggle in gaining his dream. To study this movie, sociological approach is used. The result of the study showed that White American like Jimmy Smith’s character must adapt himself in Black’s environment especially in Black’s rapper community. In 8 Mile movie, Jimmy as White American’s character, does some hard struggles to gaining his dream become a talented rapper. In his struggle’s, Jimmy gets unusual treatment like discrimination from Black people who become a major in rap music.
