Abstract

The effectiveness of facility had been directly influenced to the competitive level and business advantage. Looking for the tools of effectiveness could be used the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) method. The measurement of performance on PT XYZ by OEE method had been taken that OEE’s value has still lower, particularly caused by the lower values on rate of product’s quality and performance’s value rate. For increasing those values the problems that consist is  hole’s reject, hide’s reject, and disputed reject could be done by standard dies component, trying of trial and error of core design until precision on both sides, and installing sensor on temperature’s indicator device had been stable the temperature.  Keywords: overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) method, rate of quality product, performance’s value rate

Abstract

Knowing heart rates while doing physical exercises is very useful to achieve maximum exercise results. The use of manual method to measure heart rates during physical exercises is not possible; therefore a tool to monitor the heart rate continuously while doing a physical exercise is needed. This research aimed at designing a heart rate monitor to be used during the physical exercise.  The heart rate monitoring was done with reflective photoplethysmography method using a pair of white LED sensor and photodiode. The heart rate monitor made was compared with other heart rate monitor products using photoplethysmography technique. The test results showed that the tool can be used during the physical exercise having a better response rate than the similar products tested. Keywords: heart rate, heart rate monitoring, photoplethysmography, exercise

Abstract

Ant algorithm is one of Swarm Intellingence algorithms that can be used to solve NP-Hard problems. The scheduling of courses and lecturers which are done routinely each semester can be solved by exact methods and heuristic methods. Each institution has its own constraints in arranging the schedule. This paper discusses a case study in STMIK Widya Dharma. The type of ant algorithm used is the Rank Base Ant System suitable for scheduling based on ranking, which is the lecturers’ priority level. The other parameters are subjects, space, and time. Abstract

PT Mulia Knitting Factory (PT KMF) is a textile industry that produces cloth rolls for the manufacture of clothing in addition to  underwear as its main product. There are two kinds of cloth rolls produced: plain cloth rolls and patterned cloth rolls. After the drying process, wet cloth rolls were still found. The operator’s lack of training, the old drying machine, the different absorption level of materials, and the inappropriate temperature were estimated to be the causes. PT MKF wanted to decrease the wet cloth rolls after the drying process by improving the machine performance so that potential losses can be minimized. The Taguchi method is therefore appliedto determine the process temperature to be used in the drying process. Taguchi method resulted in100oC internal temperature and 96oC external temperature for white yarn,103oC internal temperature and 98oC external temperature for light colored yarn, and 108oC internal temperature and 103oC external temperature for dark colored yarn. Using the obtained temperature settings had decreased the numbers of wet yarns. The white yarn decreased from 20.2 chees to 10.999 chees,  the light colored yarn decreased from 12 chees to 6.999 chees, and the dark colored yarn from 25chees to 10.833 chees. Keywords: improvement, Taguchi Method, process temperature, desain of experiment
