Abstract

Blended learning environments, where face-to-face and online learning are integrated, are gaining traction in education, offering opportunities for self-directed learning and intrinsic motivation. This study explores the validity and reliability of the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) in a self-directed blended learning context. A cross-sectional design involving 651 final-year teacher students reveals high reliability in interest/enjoyment, competence, and autonomy subscales (Cronbach’s alpha: 0.94, 0.94, 0.85, respectively). A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) indicates a favourable model fit (TLI: 0.970, CFI: 0.975, RMSEA: 0.056), reinforcing the IMI's appropriateness in this setting. Factor loadings demonstrate convergent validity, which emphasises the importance of interest, competence, and autonomy in fostering intrinsic motivation. The use of convenience sampling and the exclusion of the belonging factor due to low reliability are identified as limitations in this study. Future research might explore the use of diverse populations, longitudinal studies, additional constructs, and qualitative insights. This study contributes to educational research by validating the IMI in self-directed blended learning, emphasising the need for engaging experiences, competence, and autonomy to enhance intrinsic motivation.

Abstract

This study constitutes a quantitative research endeavor aimed at examining the influence of self-directed learning and self-concept on mathematical creative thinking ability. A questionnaire was used as the measuring tool during the data gathering process. The questionnaire was employed to gather data on self-directed learning and self-concept, while tests were utilized to collect data on mathematical creative thinking ability. Questionnaires were used as the assessment tool for data collecting. The questionnaire was utilized to capture data on self-directed learning and self-concept, while tests were employed to gather data on mathematical creative thinking ability. Data analysis utilized both descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics were employed to ascertain the mean, median, mode, and standard deviation. The research findings indicate that the levels of self-directed learning, self-concept, and creative mathematical thinking abilities among elementary school students in the Malili district fall within the moderate category. There exists an influence of self-directed learning on students' creative mathematical thinking abilities. Additionally, there is an influence of self-concept on students' creative mathematical thinking abilities. Furthermore, self-directed learning and self-concept impact students' math creativity. Conclusion: there is a significant influence of both self-directed learning and self-concept on mathematical thinking abilities, both partially and collectively.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the digital media skills among different stakeholders in higher education institutions in relation to their gender, age and qualifications as well as their attitude towards MOOCs. A descriptive survey method was used for the study. The sample consists of 1478 stakeholders (1278 students, 90 teachers, 107 parents and 3 administrators) from different higher education institutions of Jammu region selected using simple random sampling. The data has been collected by employing two self-constructed tools namely the Digital Media Skill Scale (DMSS) and the Attitude Towards MOOCs Scale (ATMS). Findings show that all the stakeholders have good digital media skills. Male stakeholders were found to have better digital media skills than female stakeholders. There was no significant difference in the skills regarding digital media as far as the qualification of stakeholders is concerned. Younger stakeholders (less than 30 years of age) were found to have better skills than older ones. Teachers were found to be better than students, students were found to be better than administrators and parents. Regarding the attitude towards MOOCs, all stakeholders were found to have a positive attitude. No significant gender, as well as qualification differences, emerged with respect to their attitude towards MOOCs. Younger stakeholders (less than 30 years of age) were found to have more positive attitudes towards MOOCs than older ones. Teachers were found to have better attitudes towards MOOCs than students and students were found to have better attitudes than administrators and parents.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services with self-management techniques to reduce online game addiction at SMA Negeri 4 Malinau. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods. This research design is one group pre-test-post-test. The population of this research was 32 students and the sample was 5 students. Research analysis used the Wilcoxon test with the help of SPSS 26 for Windows. Based on the results of this study, it shows a decrease in reducing online game addiction after participating in the self-management technique group counseling services that have been provided. This pretest obtained a score of 360 with an average score of 72. After being given the service, students experienced a decrease in their score on the posttest of 252 with an average of 50.4. The results of the Wilcoxon test using SPSS 26 showed that the Z count in the experimental class was -2.023 and a significance level of 0.05. It is known that the Asymp.Sig.(2-tailed) value is 0.043<0.05, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that self-management technique group counseling services are effective in reducing online game addiction.
