Abstract

Electricity is very important in human life. In Indonesia,electricity is a basic necessity for society and industry. Electrical energy supply in Indonesia is targeted to use the 5% comes from renewable energy, it has been included in the government regulation No. 3 of 2005. One of the power plants that are potentially is Micro Hydro Power (MHP), which is an implementation of the green energy initiative to encourage renewable energy step. If the MHP potential can be developed, then at least 12,000 MWh or 14% of Indonesia's total energy needs in 2005 are contributed by the MHP.The purpose of this final project: " Feasibility Study of micro hydro power plant (MHP) on arter river at hurun village Padang Cermin district Pesawaran region lampung " is to plan a hydroelectric small scale power plant that can be used and applied as a fulfillment of electrical energy in Indonesia, especially for people who can not enjoy electricity.The Procedures to obtaining data for Head cleaner using a plastic hose method and calculation method, so the net head of 11.15 m obtained. To determine the amount of water flow, the method used is the method of floating objects, as well as doing some calculations and obtained intake capacity of 66.7 l / s. And the resulting power of 5.10 Kw. From data result, turbine suitable types is crossflowtubine.Keywords: micro hydro power plant, water discharge, crossflow turbine.

Abstract

Baja karbon rendah kekuatan tinggi memperlihatkan kombinasi yang baik dalam kekuatan dan keuletan yang menarik perhatian dari berbagai penelitian. Tujuan dari kajian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki dan mempelajari dalam analisa mikrostruktur dan perilaku permukaan patah pada tensile properties dengan variasi temperatur pada baja dual phase. Sebelumnya,bahan telah di austenised pada temperatur 1000°C selama 30 menit dan diikuti dengan water quench untuk menghasilkan full martensit pada specimen. Kemudian bahan di anneal dalam kawasan interkritikal untuk mendapatkan 20, 50 dan 80% a’. Mikrostruktur baja dual phase setelah di annealing pada daerah dual phase dan water quenching, kekerasan baja dual phase ini meningkat dengan seiring meningkatnya vol.% martensit. Disamping itu, volume % martensit yang dihasilkan adalah lebih banyak dari pada ferit.Perubahan tegangan dan regangan lebih tinggi/meningkat dari pada kondisi 20% dan 50%. Dari kondisi pengujian tarik ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan meningkatnya vol.% martensit maka tegangan maupun regangan bahan meningkat.Kekerasan bahan meningkat dengan meningkatnya %vol. martensit, ini terlihat bahwa kekerasan baja Cu adalah lebih tinggi dari baja base.Kata Kunci :  Uji Tarik, Mikrostruktur, Baja Karbon Rendah dan Perlakuan.

Abstract

Manual jackscrew is a lifting device used by automobile drivers when any disorders occur, especially when the automobile tires are deflated. Considering manual jackscrew shape and design, not all people are able to use it easily, especially women. This is the reason of manual jackscrew modification into electric jackscrew.This jackscrew modification is conducted by adding a gearbox and DC motor. The ratio between gearbox input and output is 1 : 44.77 and the DC motor power is 160 Watt – 600 Watt. The electric jackscrew working principle is that rotation from DC motor is reduced by the gearbox and forwarded to screw shaft in the jackscrew. The power source is from the automobile battery. The results of electric jackscrew testing show that time of jacking is 10 seconds for tricycle motorbike, 12 seconds  for Gran Max PU car, and 14 seconds for Mazda Vantrend car,all the data is compared with the data manual jackscrew.Key words: jack, screw, manual, gearbox, DC motor, and electric

Abstract

Heat transfer in flow across bank of tubes is of particular importance in the design of heat exchangers. Heat exchangers are found in numerous industrial applications, such as steam generation in a boiler or air cooling in the coil of an air conditioner. The Zakauskas’s correlation from the experimental data is more popular method that used to design of cross flow of heat exchanger. However, due to optimization process and more efficiency, several empirical equations were generated through the analytical and CFD methods. Hence, this paper was intended to perform a comprehensive study to analyze the heat transfer calculation of cross flow heat exchanger by using several methods in which it has been reported. Among of four methods are analyzed, the analytic method, normalization equations from CFD and Grimison’s correlation have good agreement to used for design of cross flow heat exchanger with the compact and non-compact configuration, while correlation of Zakauskas is only suitable for non-compact configuration.

Abstract

Dalam produksi engsel terdapat dua kategori utama pengerjaannya yaitu pemotongan (Cutting) dan penekukan (bending). Proses pemotongan ini bertujuan memotong material berupa lembaran logam (pelat) dibuat sesuai dengan ukuran engsel, sedangkan proses penekukan (bending) bertujuan untuk membentuk pelat hasil pemotongan melingkar. Penekukan melingkar dengan sistem press, dilakukan dengan dua langkah kerja yaitu dengan penekukan 900 atau setengah lingkaran kemudian dilanjutkan dengan penekanan sampai berbentuk melingkar. Untuk menekuk pelat engsel sampai bentuk melingkar dibutuhkan waktu yang lama karena dengan dua kali pengerjaan. Adapun tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah membuat cetakan penekukan (Curling Dies) untuk membentuk pelat engsel melingkar dengan satu langkah pengerjaan menggunakan sistem tekan.Pada penelitian ini merancang curling dies, pemodelan dengan Solidworks, simulasi mampu bentuk dengan Deform 3D, membuat curling dies dan menguji kemampuan curling dies pada penekukan melingkar pelat engsel. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Produksi-Jurusan Teknik Mesin dan Laboratorium Produksi SMKN 2 Bandar Lampung. Pengujian dilakukan dengan melihat mampu bentuk melingkar pelat engsel dengan mesin pres. Dari pengujian yang dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali percobaan pada masing-masing bagian engsel tipe butt. Pada tekanan menekuk engsel pada simulasi, tegangan terbesar adalah 672 MPa pada step 87. Dari perancangan dan pembuatan curling dies engsel pintu tipe Butt ini dapat ditekuk dengan sekali tekan. Untuk mendapatkan mampu bentuk pelat engsel AISI 1015 tebal 1mm menjadi lingkaran dibutuhkan tekanan dari mesin pres hidrolik sebesar 10 kg/cm.Kata kunci : Software Solidworks, SoftwareDeform 3D, engsel tipe butt, curling dies, bending

Abstract

Proses pengelasan dilakukan dengan sebuah alat bantu pengelasan MIG, sehingga kecepatan pengelasan dan penetrasi yang diharapkan menjadi konstan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil pengelasan pengaruh variasi kecepatan terhadap cacat las yang terjadi, pengaruh variasi kecepatan pengelasan terhadap hasil uji tarik, dan mencari kecepatan pengelasan yang paling optimum. Penelitian ini menggunakan menggunakan material aluminium alloy 5083, mesin las MIG dengan alat bantu pengelasan, filler rod AWS5356, dia. 1,2 mm, arus 135 A dan kecepatan wire feeder 8 m/menit dengan proses pendinginan alami. Variasi kecepatan pengelasan diberikan 250 mm/menit, 350 mm/menit, 450 mm/menit, 550 mm/menit, 650 mm/menit. Metode Non Destructive Test (NDT) dye penetrant untuk melihat cacat yang terjadi pada permukaan hasil pengelasan. Kemudian pengujian Destructive Test (DT) dengan melakukan uji tarik untuk mengetahui hasil kekuatan tarik.Cacat yang terjadi, yaitu pin hole dan crack. Ultimate Total Load tertinggi dihasilkan oleh pengelasan MIG menggunakan kecepatan 550 mm/menit dengan nilai 7938,41 kgf, sedangkan Ultimate Total Load terendah dihasilkan pada kecepatan 250 mm/menit dengan nilai 2629,35 kgf. Tensile Strenght terendah ada pada spesimen 250 mm/menit dengan nilai 6,83 kgf/mm² , sedangkan untuk nilai Tensile Strength tertinggi ada pada spesimen 550 mm/menit dengan nilai 20,43 kgf/mm².Kecepatan optimum berdasarkan pengujian tarik yaitu pada kecepatan 550 mm/menit.Kata Kunci : Pengelasan, MIG, Aluminium 5083, Alat bantu.

Abstract

One of the sub-process of coffee production is wet coffee processing. It is done to reduce the longer of drying time. So, it can minimize the growth of okhratoksin mushroom which can reduce the quality of coffee beans.There are some steps in doing this research, as follow; the first, choosing peeler knife by using weighted rating method the second, using ergonomic and anthropometry value tofind out dimension of the machine and choosing machine component. The third, attempting the machine performance. The fourth, calculating the breakeven point.The results showed that the specification machine with the length of wall is 420mm, the width of leg machines is 610 mm, the width of the machine is 490mm, high machine is 1200mm which is adjusted by measurement of Indonesian people anthropometric. Engine capacity with 600 kg / hour by moving the machine is an electric motor 1 phase and with rotation 1400 rpm. Transmission system used V-belt with diameter 32mm could connect reduction gear and transmitted sprocket to the cylinder axis cylinder axis peeler paring. Cylindrical roller paring used rubberroller (natural rubber, NR) with cylinder angle 450 and knife distance 7mm. Construction pattern of 70mmx70mmx7mm corner profile and casing used 7mm thickness plat with AISI steel 1045 and 1015. Abstract

Motorcycle modification has been done many times to new motorcycles, such as motorcycle 125cc that was first released in 2004 and old motorcycles, such as motorcycle 100cc that was first released in 1997. motorcycle 100cc with engine base 100cc is very popular in the market. But, there are many weaknesses, for example: the performance and the fuel efficiency of motorcycle 100cc are lower than of Honda Supra X 125cc.There are several techniques to increase the acceleration and power of a motorcycle. One of them is increasing the volume of the cylinder capacity and increasing the compresion ratio. But the impacts which were resulted in the proccess of modofication, suck as the increase in fuel consumption and the decrease in the motorcycle lifetime.In this research, the researcher modified the cylinder capacity on motorcycle 100cc in to the same capacity as motorcycle 125cc by using cylinder block cylinder, cylinder head, crankshaft and tensioner from motorcycle 125cc. And then it was tested by as: testing of fuel consumption in stationary condition, testing of fuel comsumption in tandem and without tandem, testing of acceleration, and testing of speed and machine maximum rotation.The result of the modification shows that the modification has decreased the fuel consumption up to 19.63% in the stationary condition; in the rotation at 1400 rpm and 4000 rpm. For fuel consumption testing, when there has tandem or not, the modification has decreased the fuel consumption up to 27.19%. In the acceleration test of 0-80 km/h, the modification has decreased time allocated to accelerate at 3.91 seconds or about 20.03%. In the acceleration test of 60-80 km/h, the modification has decreased time allocated to accelerate at about 37%. And in the testing of maximum speed and rotation, the result shows that the modification has increased the speed at about 3.7% and increased the maximum rotation at about 1.66% from the original condition of motorcycle 100cc.Keywords: Modified, efficiency of the engine, the fuel efficiency.

Abstract

Quenching results of conventional HSS tool through nitrogen (N2), an increase of value : 3.125%, the research conducted to extract material Aluminum alloy T-6061, with the aim of: (1). age and HSS tool wear, tool life values obtained exponent (n) and tool life constants (CT), (2). know the mechanisms and types of HSS tool wear characteristics. The method used to "Test Variable Speed Machining", research conducted by vary the cutting speed (Vc) with three levels and depth of cut, feed motion (f) is constant. From the findings of this research longest tool life (tc): 0.99 minutes (Vc = 34.56 m / min), depth of cut  (a) = 0.3 mm, feeding (f) : 0,1 mm/put,the shortest age (tc): 0.93 minutes (Vc = 51.84 m / min), (a) = 0.5 mm, with temperatures on average nose tool T0C: 48.100C. nmaximum obtained exponent value = 0.043 at (a) = 0.3 mm, and nmin = 0.0254 at a = 1.0 mm. Taylor is so the value equation. V.T0,,043 = 86.51 (max) for cutting speed Vc = 34.56 m/min [(VB = 0.41 mm)] and V.T0,0254 = 86.51 (min), for cutting speed Vc = 86.39 m / min. [(VB = 0.30 mm)], (2).
