Abstract

Electric was the vital energy and needed by community for all activity as lighting, radio, television (information), industry , etc. Although aspecialy the urban community was needed this energy and a little rural community was needed. There was several isolated villages in Pesawaran sub province , no electricity by PLN. For this villages goverment would supply the elerctric energy and build microhydro electric plant. The purpose of this with title “Feasibility Study Micro Hydroelectric Power Station (PLTMH) at cikawat river in talang mulia village pesawaran sub province” is to contributed in hydro turbine management and to planning a micro hydroelectric power station that can be used and applied for a better life The research was carried out by using a very simple method is to use a floating object method to measure discharge and plastic hose method for measuring head.Based on the field data, (Head efektif = 9. 35m and water debt = 0,1029 m3/s) the crossflow Turbine can produce energy 7.07 kW. Bellow to the data above it is result that the cikawat river can be set a micro hydro electric power.Keywords : micro hydroelectric power station, water dept, crossflow Turbine.

Abstract

Fatigue is the one of the main cause from of the material failure. The main of cause failure 90 % caused fatigue.   Fatigue is material sructure process changes that is caused by repeatly load (stress or shear) in a long period of time so it occured crack or break. The reason of this research is to analyze of the fatigue strength medium carbon steel type AISI 1045 with variaton of shaft rotation on rotary bending machine. Fatigue test applied on medium carbon steel  type AISI 1045 without heat treatment. This research was conducted with variation of shaft rotation 2880 rpm and continued with load variation 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and 60 % from material UTS. Specimen that used according ASTM E466 spesimen made by lathe machine. Fatigue test is using by rotary bending machine type fatigue test machine.Keywords:Fatigue test, rotary bending, medium carbon steel  AISI 1045.

Abstract

The activated fly ash of coal as adsorbent pellets can be used to save fuel consumption. This research is done with some testing that is the runs test (road test and acceleration), stationary and emission testing. Fly Ash pellets packed in a frame and put on the air filter absolute revo 110 cc motorcycle. So before the air filter into the vehicle, it wil be contact with the pellets Fly Ash first. In this study, the most efficient types of water used is H12 Z20  and the best conditions was on the temperature 150o C and activation time of 1 hour with fuel savings in road test reached 12.69%, and fuel economy at a stationary test up to 22.65% and the reduction of travel time ( 0-80 km/h ) of 6.86%. Fly Ash pellets are able to reduce the levels of CO by 76,92 %, 19,57 % for HC levels and raise their levels of CO  by 4,36 %.Keywords : Fly ash adsorbent pellets, engine performance, exhaust gas emissions

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the physical and mechanical properties of aluminum casting results printed by using sand mold. Variation is made on the formation of mold sand where there happens a difference of the addition of binding substance rice husk ash and bentonite have been blended into a sand mould-forming composition. The Material used in this study is aluminum with purity levels above 99, which melted in the kitchen Dipper Krusible type and printed in sand mold. The tools which are used in testing hardness and micro-structure of tests in a row are: brinell hardness test and olympus metallurgical microscope.  Brinell hardness testing uses the test with the standard ASTM E 10-01 and micro testing structure uses standard ASTM E 3 by way of looking at the specimen under a microscope. From this data, it can be obtained that the lowest hardness calculation of test results of 17.7636 HBW for compositions that vary on a mixture of bentonite and ash 6% husk 14%, and the maximum calculation of the hardness is obtained on the composition of the mixture of 10% and 8% bentonite husk ash, where the calculation of the hardness of 22.8100 HBW. In micro structure testing; looks that porosity in aluminum in great numbers when a comparison between bentonite and binding substance grey husk in the levels are quite different, causing the result of casting have much number of porosity, so that it causes the low level of the hardness. While  for the comparison of levels of grey husk and bentonite which approach the same levels, When added to the composition of the sand mould-forming, micro structure test results showed that metal casting results have little amount of porosity causing aluminum castings results have a high level of hardness. Abstract

Objective of this research is making thermovision application for heat mapping. The research is carried out with machining magnesium which chisel holder is designed with a thermocouple on the tip of it. The thermocouple is used as parameter to the maximum and also minimum temperature of the application. The machining process is done at the same time when the video is recorded. After the filming process, the video will be converted into several images (.Jpg format). The images will then be processed by using the thermovision application. After the images are loaded in the application, the distribution of temperature can be seen based on several areas of colors. The result of some image reading by using the thermovision application shows that temperature distribution happens through colors and it also shows the number of temperature in Celsius degree calculation. As seen in the image capturing of object with a range of temperature for about 100°C-150°C, a maximum temperature that can be obtained is 145.662°C and the minimum temperature is 120.973°C. This range of temperature is not too far from the maximum and minimum temperature of the thermocouple.Keywords: magnesium material, distribution of temperature, thermovision application.

Abstract

Rice husk ash and prosperous coal fly ash silica (SiO2). Silica-term construction, concrete technology  has been used primarily as an additive. Husk ash and coal fly ash is used as an additive clay roof tile manufacturing process. It is made by compounding of clay, sand, water and husk ash. Then, they are mashed by extruder machine and forming of kuweh and then, airing for three days before the process of stamping. The roof tile is dried for four days then there is fumigation for twelve days and continued by combustion for also twelve days. The examination which used is press and porosity examination with the aim of knowing whether there is additional impact of rice’ husk ash’ existence or not into clay roof tile in Kabupaten Pringsewu. The research’s results showed that there is conversion of press and porosity power compared with roof tile rice’s husk ash composition. The optimum value for the press and examination of porosity obtained from the tile with a composition of 5% rice husk ash and 5% coal fly ash 'with an average of 12.253 KPa press strength and porosity values average value of 18.06%. The minimum value for the press obtained from the tile with a composition of 5% rice husk ash and 2,5% coal fly ash with the press power’s average value 9.757 KPa. The minimum value for porosity from the tile with a composition of 5% rice husk ash and 7,5% coal fly ash with the porosity average value 23.78%. Abstract

Energy determines the development and sustainability of economic system, social change and political growth in a country. Because of that, the energy crisis is the crisis of growth and sustainability of life system. Auto-vehicle is a certain transportation mode which an engine requiring fuel. To decrease the fuel consumption, we can use the natural resource like fly ash of shell and fiber of palm. The objective of this research is to observe the effect of the variation of mass and activation temperature in producing pelletized fly ash on performance and emission of a four-stroke petrol motorcycle. This research was done by implementing several variations of test, those were test of fuel comsumption at speed of  50km/hour for 5 km and stationer at 1500, 3500, and 5000 rpm. The fly ash used in this research was 10 mm in diameter and 3 mm in thicknes. Those fly ash were wrapped in a frame and put in an air filter of New Jupiter Z 110 cc. So the combustion air fistly contacted with the fly ash before entering into the combustion chamber. From the results, the best fly ash mass used P•—nƒì ?‡ and the best temperature activation is 175 oC. Those fly ash can save the fuel consumption by 17.23 % (road test) and 20.06% (stasioner test).  Keywords : fly ash adsorbent, combustion air treatment, emission

Abstract

This research is intended to study experimentally the relationship between automation systemsfor the transportation system, while the emphasis is on the point of train control system on the rails.The design of manufacturing automation systems in this research using a microcontroller PUATTiny 2313-20 for setting the working mechanism of the dynamo on a train and ArduinoDuemilanove to open or close the railway doorstop. The data obtained from this research arespeed, braking system that is safe, and the optocoupler output.
