Abstract

This article describes errors of writing found in ingredients of Indonesian products which are written in Arabic, for example ingredients of foods or snacks based on imla’ and non-imla’ perspective. After doing depth analysis of errors in ingredients writing, it is found that there are some errors. From Imla’ perspective, the errors are: (1) the placement of hamzah in the beginning, in the middle, and in the end of words. (2) hamzah qatha’ and hamzah washal (3) punctuations such as comma [,] full stop [.], and etc. Furthermore, based on non-imla’ perspective, the errors are: (1) the change of letter is caused by equality of sound so that it is heared the same writing, (2) another errors happen because of addition of letter in certain words which result other words that are different from Arabic dictionary, (3) The last, the errors resulted from reduction of some letter(s) in certain words in which it is literally different from dictionary meaning and do not follow the correct rule of Arabic writing.

Abstract

As the language of the Qur’an, Arabic is not only owned by speakers of the Arab nation, but also belongs to all Muslims in the world. Then it should be better for all Muslims trying to learn and study the Qur’an since the early stage of their life. Many aspects of the qur'an have been examined and learned, But it is inexhaustible and out of date, even it is getting richer and always actual. Aspect of the recitation of al-qur'an or qiraah is one of the aspects which is rarely discussed. Most of the reciters recite Qur’an as what it is contained in the written manuscripts or rasm, though there are a lot of verses (ayah) that should be read differently with the original writing, such as imalah (inclination, bending the sound of a short vowel), tashil, isymam and etc. The phenomenon of gharib reading is paid less attention by reciters. Some changes of sound in gharib reading which are viewed from Tajweed have been oftenly studied, but in this article, writer wants to study those changes of sound from Arabic phonology (al-Ashwat) perspective. From the results, it revealed that, (1) based on the form of gharib reading in the holy Qur’an according to Imam Ashim narrated by Hafs that have undergone changes of sound are imalah, isymam, tashil, naql, badal, mad & qasr, the change of fathah or dlammah of dlad; (2) from the process, the changes of sound in gharib reading seen from Al-aswat study resulted by the presence of interaction between adjacent sounds either the sound of consonant or vowel; such as assimilation, direct or indirect assimilation, regressive or progressive assimilation, assimilation of way pronunciation and also metathesis; and (3) Some factors underlying the occurrence of changes in sound on these gharib reading are the principle of power efficiency (The Low Of Least Effort) , the ease theory, and also the balance theory.

The language style in novel is the embodiment of language use by an author to express ideas, emotion, opinion, and to give a certain effect. The main problem will be discussed in this study is the language style found in the novels of AAC 1 and 2. This study is about individual language style, an author’s language style who have written best seller novels, namely Habiburrahman El-Shirazy (HES). The approach that is considered very appropriate in understanding the language use of HES in Dwilogy of Ayat-Ayat Cinta (DAAC) is stylistic study. A stylistic study reveals how is the language style used by HES and what effects that are resulted. The approach of this research is a descriptive qualitative research. Descriptive method is used to describe the linguistic facts such as the language style based on lexical choice, sentence structure, and direct or indirect meaning. The use of language style based on lexical choice (diction) in DAAC shows a typical language style of HES as well as shows his ability as a Da’i and man of letters. The analysis of language style based on sentence structure and direct/indirect meaning illustrates the descriptive style of HES. Whatever he describes, it must be very accurate. He gives very detail information of the object being spoken of either background of the story or characterization. Through language style, HES describes the emotions experienced by the characters properly so it makes the readers able to empathize. From the data had been obtained, it reveals that language style used by HES to describe characters or characterization (describe the physical condition, characters, and characteristics), describes its background, tells the plot, and convey the message. The results showed the lexical choice of scientific words and religious words are typical of HES’s language style in his DAAC, the peculiarities of language style based on sentence structure in DAAC seen from the use of repetition (anaphora), and HES’s peculiarity in using language style according to direct or indirect meaning can be seen from the use of personification.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know whether indirect coded feedback gives a better effect on students’ writing ability rather than direct feedback. the design used in this experimental research was randomized group post test only design. The researcher did lottery to every student to divide them into A and B class. Then the experimental group and the control group were randomly chosen by a flip coin. A class or the experimental group was given correction by using codes on the errors they made in their first draft or indirect coded feedback, while B class or control group was given the correct form of the errors or direct feedback on their first draft. The treatments were done three times and the result of post-test then was analyzed. The result of the data analysis that gotten from the statistical computation of the post test result showed that the t-value was higher than that of t-table. This indicated that students who got indirect coded feedback have better writing ability than the students who got direct feedback on their writing.
