Abstract

This article responds to the issue of human rights (HAM) from the perspective of maqâṣidî’s reasoning (maqâṣid asy-syarî‘ah). Considering that human rights violations have always been being a boomerang in the life of Indonesian society. It could be seen like what happened to the Shia people in Sampang whose right have been lost to enjoy their life in peace and worship their religious rights freely and safely in their homeland. A similar case has been experienced by several Ahmadiyah congregations. In this case, the writer elaborates the maqâṣid concept which has been continued its development along the time. According to ‘Izzuddin bin ‘Abd as-Salâm, the purpose of Islamic law is to create benefit and reject the damage for human being, both in this world and in the hereafter. The highest benefit of Islamic law is to maintain and keep the religion (ḥifẓ ad-dîn), soul (ḥifẓ an-nafs), reason (ḥifẓ al-‘aql), descent (ḥifẓ an-nasl), and property (ḥifẓ al-mâl) . These five things are known as aḍ-ḍarûriyyah al-khamsah (the five primary). Later, some maqâṣidî scholars (such as Ibn ‘Âsyûr, ‘Allâl al-Fâsî, Jamâluddîn ‘Aṭiyyah, and Yusûf al-Qarâḍâwî) developed the scope of maqâṣid asy-syarî‘ah. So that, it is not restricted to the five primary matters only, but also to several other primary matters, such as justice, freedom, equality and human rights. On the other side, Muḥammad az-Zuḥailî views that the concept of aḍ-ḍarûriyyah al-khamsah is the basis of human rights itself. Because, ḥifẓ ad-dîn, ḥifẓ an-nafs, ḥifẓ al-‘aql, ḥifẓ an-nasl, and ḥifẓ al-mâl do not only mean to maintain, but also include the meaning of rights, namely: the right to religion, the right to life, the right to think and freedom of thought, family rights, and property rights.

Agama menjadi sesuatu yang sangat penomenal karena agama disatu sisi menjadi acuan, panutan dan pedoman hidup namun disisi yang lain agama menjadi sesuatu yang sangat menjadi objek perhatian karena sekarang persoalan agama terkadang menjadi sumber pemicu terjadi konflik dan kekerasan. Abstract

This paper explores spiritual practices of a Javanese Spiritual Groups in Purworejo, Central Java, namely Kapribaden. Most of  the Kapribaden practitioners are religious people who are not satisfied with their own religion and seek a spiritual path that is able to fulfil their spiritual thirstiness in order to find the meaning of  life. According to the Kapribaden teaching , the meaning of  life can attained be through three ways: First is working hard with responsibility and then receive the result sincerely; second, to behave to others with right action and love; and third, to take spiritual lessons from ever y calamity and suffering through intro- spection for their future better.

Abstract

Kajian keislaman dalam beberapa dekade terahir mulai memanfaatkan kerangka teoritis yang diadopsi dari kajian ilmu ilmu sosial dan budaya serta ilmu-ilmu humaniora. Meskipun demikian, aplikasi teoritis terkadang terhambat pada metodologi dan prosedur kajian yang sedikit berbeda dengan ilmu-ilmu tersebut. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini mengelaborasi lebih jauh beberapa metodologi dan prosedur kajian keislaman yang dipadukan dengan ilmu sosial dan budaya. Dengan modifikasi teoritis penulis mengintroduksi delapan sudut telaah dalam melakukan kajian keislaman. Hal ini dilakukan semata-mata untuk menghasilkan kajian yang holistik dan komprehensif dengan kerangka teoritis yang terstruktur.Kata Kunci: Metodologi Penelitian, Studi Islam

Abstract

Belakangan ini, terutama di kota-kota besar, Sekolah Islam Terpadu (SIT) direspons masyarakat Muslim secara positif. Buktinya, banyak kalangan Muslim yang mendirikan SIT dan menyekolahkan anak-anaknya ke lembaga pendidikan tersebut. Bahkan, untuk menjalin komunikasi antar SIT dibentuklah Jaringan Sekolah Islam Terpadu (JSIT). Keberadaan SIT di bawah JSIT acapkali dicurigai menanamkan nilai-nilai eksklusivisme dan radikalisme Islam. Untuk itu, menarik melakukan penelitian tentang eksklusivisme beragama di JSIT Yogyakarta.Eksklusivisme beragama dalam JSIT juga dapat diteropong melalui empat karakteristik tersebut, yaitu: Pertama, menerapkan pendekatan literal dalam memahami teks-teks Islam (tekstualis). Kedua, pandangan keselamatan hanya dapat dicapai melalui agama Islam disertai dengan penolakan terhadap agama lain dan pengikutnya (truth-claim). Ketiga, menekankan gagasan bahwa tidak ada pemisahan antara Islam dan negara (anti-sekularisasi). Keempat, para penganut paham ini percaya adanya konspirasi antara pemerintah Indonesia dengan umat Kristen (dan atau Yahudi atau kafir secara umum) untuk memperlemah kekuatan politik Islam (percaya adanya konspirasi thaghut).

Abstract

The perception that kyais are conservative, fanatic, and difficult to be invited in a dialogue will fade away when seeing the fact that their pesantrens are able to survive until today. Kyais are able to maintain pesantrens even though with traditional management, such as less of fundraising support and minimum facilitation. The pesantrens are still exist because they have capability to re- spond any changes and developments of  the world in their own way, which often difficult to be understood from modern logic. This paper explains how pesantrens develop and construct their social network as strateg y to exist in three ways: the transmission of  knowledge, marriage, and structure.

Abstract

Fundamentalisme Kristen adalah salah satu faham yang bermula dari gerakan penganut Kristen Protestan di Amerika Serikat pada awal abad ke-20. Gerakan ini pada awalnya dimaksudkan sebagai reaksi terhadap gelombang modernisasi, sekularisasi dan liberalisasi, yang dianggap akan mengancam dan membahayakan iman. Fundamentalisme Kristen antara lain mempunyai ciri sangat menekankan doktrin inneransi Alkitab, bahwa Alkitab pasti terbebas dari segala kesalahan. Mereka menolak berbagai analisis Alkitab menggunakan metode modern, dan megecam orang-orang yang mempelajari Alkitab menggunakan perspektif ilmu modern sebagai orang Kristen yang tidak benar. Tulisan ini berupaya mendiskripsikan fundamentalisme dalam agama kristen, meliputi sejarah kemunculannya, prinsip-prinsip ajaran dan akar historis yang menimbulkannya. Kata Kunci: Fundamentalisme, Agama Kristen

Abstract

This paper analyses the implementation of integration and interconnection approaches among undergraduate thesis in the department of Comparative Religion (now Religious Studies) at the Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It shows that 62% of the undergraduate theses have implemented semipermeable model, 38% intersubjective testability, and none of them have implemented creative imagination. The absent of creative imagination model is understandable because referring to the Indonesian Qualification Framework Curriculum (KKNI) that the competency of S1-student is on the standard 6th: which is capable for doing analyses. The creative imagination model seems to fit more for student at doctoral level (standard 9th), in which they are required to find new theories in their doctoral thesis.

Abstract

Globalisasi di satu sisi menawarkan kemudahan dan kemajuan, namun di sisi lain ia juga mengidap berbagai titik rawan yang dapat mengancam kelangsungan masa depan umat manusia, termasuk di dalamnya agama. Untuk itu diperlukan upaya serius dalam rangka mewujudkan tatanan yang damai, aman, dan tentram di era global ini. Agama memiliki peran yang sangat strategis dalam mewujudkan keinginan mulia tersebut. Peneguhan etika global agama-agama yang ada di dunia adalah bagian dari tanggung jawab global yang harus diemban oleh setiap institusi agama. Untuk itu agama harus melakukan revitalisasi dan fungsionalisasinya di era global ini. Agar revitalisasi dan fungsionalisasi tersebut berjalan dengan problem-problem empiris yang dihadapi umat manusia baik secara sosiologis, psikologis maupun antropologis.

Abstract

Philanthropy means loving to humanity in the form of giving and constructing socialrelation, including both those of the have and the poor. The basic idea is to supportpublic good and welfare. This article exemplifi es Karinakas, one of the philanthropyinstitutions, that serves as social body under the Diocese Semarang.This institution tries to implement the fairer world order for all, particularly for theweak, the poor, the marginalized and difable. The characteristic of the institutionis social service in health, economy, education and social. Two queries include therelationship between religious understanding and Karinakas’ program and itsconsideration on religious affi liation. The aim of this article is to observe the empiricalfacts applying sociological view with a qualitative descriptive analysis. The researchuses Max Weber’s rationalization in order to respond the inclusive and general typeof Karinakas’ program. In its social outreach, the program is for all regardless of thereligious affi liation. Karinakas has projected its service onto humanity issue.
