Abstract

This article examines the factors that led to Agus Sulistiyono's defeat in the 2019 Legislative Elections in the DIY electoral district. These factors are seen with three-dimensional indicators of the power cube theory: visible power, hidden power, and invisible power. Methodologically, this article is the result of qualitative research with a case study approach. In data collection, the results of interviews are the main source to determine the factors that influence the defeat of candidates. This finding shows that there are three indicators. First, visible power which includes the campaign strategy carried out by Agus Sulistiyono using the party constitution route spreads throughout Yogyakarta and synergizes with DPRD candidates from the same party. Second, on the hidden power indicator, by obtaining support from the supporting political parties, as well as money politics practices. Third, there is support from religious leaders. Of the three indicators, visible and hidden power is the most dominant indicator that led to the defeat of Agus Sulistiyono in the 2019 Legislative Election in the DIY Electoral District.

This article discusses islamophobia as a threat to multiculturalism in Indonesia. To test this assumption, this article uses the theory expressed by Huntington as a multicultural clash between Western civilization and Islam. The method used is qualitative-explorative with a phenomenological approach. By analysis using Nvivo 12 Pro Tools. The results of this study state that islamophobia has significantly undermined the harmonization of diversity in Indonesia. This is evidenced by the phenomenon of mutual disbelief among fellow Muslims and bigotry between Islamic groups in Indonesia. As an offer to face the threat of division from the high influence of islamophobia, it is to present Islam as rahmatan lil alamin to maintain national and state harmonization in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract This article tries to apply the concept of governmentality in Michael Foucault's perspective in analyzing the Family Planning discourse which began to be implemented in 1970, precisely under the "New Order" regime under President Suharto in Indonesia. This Governmental analysis tries to reveal the existence of efforts to regulate society and change their paradigm about child ownership which in the "Old Order" regime was fully supported by the government under President Soekarno. This paper finds that the initial initiation of the Family Planning program and the discourse of small happy and prosperous families is an attempt by the new regime to change their paradigm. This paper highlights how discourse is produced, how the process works and how the process is successful in controlling the Indonesian population Keywords: Keywords; Governmentality, Discourse on Happy and Prosperous Small Family, Family Planning Program, Postmodernism

Abstract

The making of regional budgets involves several actors who have an interest in the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). The relationship between each actor forms a structured and systematic network and arranges strategies to accommodate the interests of actors in the APBD. This article aims to explain how the relationship between actors and budget politics forms interests in the making of the APBD. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive analysis type to describe the relationship of each actor by using actor-network theory and public policy. The results of the study found that the actors involved in the making of regional budgets were grouped into two, namely formal actors and informal actors. The main actors who dominate the making of regional budgets are the regional head as the highest decision holder and family relations as informal actors who influence decision making. Each actor forms a network to accommodate their interests in the APBD by strengthening their relationship with the highest decision-makers in regional budgeting. The strategy of actors in entering and guarding their interests in the APBD uses four political strategy frameworks, namely position strategy, power strategy, player strategy, and perception strategy. This article contributes to understanding that APBD budget politics cannot be separated from the role of formal actors and informal actors who have formed networks in guarding their respective interests.
