Abstract

Preservation batik has become cultural heritage of Indonesia also needs to be balanced with the protection of the health of batik craftsmen. The health condition of batik craftsman is one off factor in the sustainability of batik in Indonesian because the capital of craftsman working productivity. Workloads such as position and wrong posture at works can lead to complaints of the musculoskeletal system. One of them is low back pain (LBP). LBP can reduce the functional abilities of the craftsmen. LBP is a very common problem in people working age. Structured exercise an option for the treatment of low back pain. Exercise to reduce pain and improve functional activities. The most important component in LBP is strength training exercises and one spinal stability with back strengthening exercises and core stability exercise. The purpose of this study to determine that core stability training exercise is better than a back strengthening exercise in increasing the functional activity of the batik craftsmen with low back pain in Pekalongan. The research designs is experiment true by the one group pre-test and post-test group design, conducted in January to August 2014. Samples were taken by purposive sampling with inclusion and exclusion criteria. In this study consist of 28 people with batik craftsmen low back pain who have worked a minimum of 5-20 years. Subjects were divided into two groups: group 1 (were given training back strengthening exercises) and group 2 (were given training core stability exercise). Measurement instruments to assess the functional activity used the Pain Disability Index (PDI). The result of statistical test with paired t-test found that the reduction in PDI scores of group 1 with p value = 0.001 and data reduction PDI score group 2 p value = 0.001. Abstract

Asthma gymnastics is one type of exercise therapy that conducted in groups (exercise group) that involving activities of body movement or an essential activity to help the process of respiratory rehabilitation in patients with asthma and it is one of the supporting element in the treatment of asthma. Asthma is a lung disease with characteristics: a reversible airway (but incomplete in some patients) spontaneously or treatment; Inflammation of the airways; Increased airway response to various stimuli (hyperreactivity). This study aims to find out whether asthma gymnastic can reduce the frequency of recurrence of asthma, increase oxygen saturation and physical fitness in patients with asthma in Lung polyclinic of Wangaya hospital Denpasar. This study is an experimental study with the pre and post test control group design. Number of samples were 30 people with asthma consist of 15 patients with asthma as treatment group and 15 patients with asthma as control group. The results showed that in the treatment group have improvement on well controlled relapse and decrease of well uncontrolled relapse. Based on the value Mann Whitney test p = 0.008, it means asthma gymnastics can reduce recurrence in patients with bronchial asthma. Effect of asthma gymnastic on oxygen saturation in treatment group by mean values of % SpO2 increased from 95.1 to 96.5. By using the Mann Whitney p = 0.001, it means asthma gymnastics can improve oxygen saturation in patients with bronchial asthma. Conclusion that administration of asthma gymnastics training for three times a week for eight weeks can reduce the frequency of recurrence, improve oxygen saturation and physical fitness in patients with asthma. Asthma gymnastics will be expected to conduct by asthma sufferer regularly in an effort to control the frequency of asthma attacks effectively.

Abstract

Type of 80 meters ran is one of the numbers on athletics competed in early age of child. In early age, the physical condition and mind can still be developed continuously and systematically. The exercise in early age should be an element of play and competition, thus this exercise is attempted to develop the speed by two types of exercise: back to back relay run of 20 meters six reps four sets and back to back relay run of 30 meters four reps four sets. The aim of research is to know the increasing of 80 meters speed of run. The exercise was conducted for six weeks with a frequency of three times a week with the aim to increasing the speed. The numbered of sample was 24 people selected randomly from junior high school students of Dharma Praja Badung that meets the requirements of inclusion and exclusion. The numbered of each group consists of twelve people. Each group was given a different treatment i.e. group I was treated by back to back relay run of 20 meters six reps and four sets and group II treated by back to back relay run of 30 meters four reps four sets. Data derived from the duration time of 80 meters ran before and after exercise, with t paired test to determine the difference average speed of duration time before and after exercise in each group. Abstract

Increase agility for students is determined by muscular strength, speed, and flexibility. The ability of muscles to contract quickly will increase the speed of muscle in motion. Increase in speed, strength and flexibility of muscles due to stretch muscle-tendinous unit. The mechanism become the basis for moving in the shortest possible time. Agility on student issues has not received much attention, the attention of the agility found better in many athletes. This research is an experimental study to analysis at the difference between the intervention of with gastrocmineus muscle eccentric exercises and plyometric exercises with eccentric exercise quadriceps muscle and plyometric to increase agility on students at the University of Esa Unggul. A total of 40 students aged 18-21 years old who meet the criteria inclusion were randomly divided into 2 treatment groups. The old treatment group I was given quadriceps muscle eccentric and plyometric treatment group II eccentric exercise gastrocmineus muscle and plyometric exercises. Both exercise was done 3 times was given per week for 6 weeks. Agility is measured by Right-Boomerang Run Test. The results of the hypothesis testing using t-test related and different mean values obtained agility treatment group I (16,43±0.89secon) and a second treatment group (16,01± 1,04secon)with p?0.05. Conclusion of the study is a combination of eccentric exercise m.gastrocnemius with plyometric exercise no better than the m.quadriceps eceentric exercises with plyometric exercises to increase agility on student at Esa Unggul University.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the training method to improving long jump results of two training methods. Research conducted on 24 students of SMAN-2 Mengwi Badung and divided by into two groups. One group was given run-jump obstacle training and two groups was given run-jump ahead training. The data obtained were analyzed by paired ttest to determine the difference between before and after training in both groups and independent t-test to test the difference in long jump results between groups after training. Abstract

Shoulder impingement causing interference on the motion of the shoulder joint activities and result in functional activity disorder. These injuries usually are caused by faulty movement, overuse, poor posture, occupational factors and trauma. This will cause a burden on one part of the body and cause imbalances in anatomy, which will eventually lead to disruption of the body that experienced work. This study aimed to investigate the effect of functional shoulder exercise and traction humerus to inferior with shoulder stabilization exercises and traction humerus to inferior to the decline in the shoulder and arm disabilities in subacromial impingement syndrome. This research method was experimental clinical trials with pre test and post test group design. Population student Academy Physiotherapy Widya Husada Semarang, which consists of 3 men and 12 women, aged between 18-21 years, divided into two groups. Group I was given Shoulder Stabilization exercises and Traction humerus to Inferior (n=7) and group II Functional Shoulder Exercise and Traction humerus to Inferior (n=8). This research was conducted for 3 weeks. Measurement of the value of disability shoulder and arm by using the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI). The test results on the group I average value pre 34.17, SB = 6.31, and the average value of post 11.54, SB = 4.02, p = 0.001 found significant differences obtained test results paired sample t-test, and testing group II average value pre 40.18, SB = 3.53, and the average value of post 7.82, SB = 1.57, p = 0.001 found significant differences obtained test results paired sample t-test. Comparison of Group I and II, p = 0.005 there were significant differences, test results obtained independent sample t-test. Conclusions: The combination of shoulder stabilization exercises and traction humerus to inferior can reduce disability shoulder and arm on subacromial impingement syndrome. The combination functional shoulder exercise and traction humerus to inferior can reduce disability shoulder and arm on subacromial impingement syndrome. The combination functional shoulder exercises and traction humerus to inferior better than the combination shoulder stabilization exercises and traction humerus to inferior in lowering disabilities shoulder and arm on subacromial impingement syndrome.

Abstract

Students with Hamstring Muscle Tightness (HMTs) will be at risk of Anterior Crusiatum Ligament (ACL), Low Back Pain (LBP) and also Plantar Faciitis. One of the efforts to reduce tightness and improve hamstring muscle flexibility is stretching. Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) and Hold Relax Stretching (HRS) are the methods of influential stretching to improve muscle flexibility. The goal of the research is to prove that AIS method is equally effective with the HRS method to improve hamstring muscle flexibility to the HMTs patients. The research method was true experimental with pre and post test group design. The research was conducted for 3 weeks and the samples are 23 students in range of 18-25 years old students of physical therapy in Physical Therapy Academy of Widya Husada Semarang which divided into 2 groups; AIS group (n= 12) and HRS group (n= 11). The research used Sit and Reach Test (SRT) as the measurement instrument. The result of the research was the average result of AIS group used SRT before treatment was 1.75 cm, SB= 4.309 and after treatment was 10. 58 cm, SB = 8. 005 within p= 0.000 (p< 0.05) which means AIS was effective in improving hamstring muscle flexibility. The average result of HRS group used SRT before treatment was -0. 64 cm, SB= 5.240 and after treatment 9. 55 cm, SB= 4.435 within p= 0.000 (p< 0.05) which means HRS was effective in improving hamstring muscle flexibility. Different test of the both groups; AIS and HRS used independent t-test resulted t= 0. 389 and p= 0.702 (p> 0.05). Those explain that the improvement of hamstring muscle flexibility to the two groups does not show any significant difference. Conclusion from this study was active isolated stretching method and hold relax stretching method are equally effective to improving muscle flexibility of hamstring muscle tightness students of physical therapy in Physical Therapy Academy of Widya Husada Semarang.

Abstract

In volley ball game, the mistakes that usually conduct by athlete was inaccurate of the blocking move, therefore the hit which was conducted by the rivals always unblock. It was caused by less of good physical condition and well block technique then it was effected the jump high. The training was needed to improve the bad physical condition and block’s technique. Leg muscle explosive power is one of the important components of the physical condition which was required in sports especially in barrier’s jump. The exercise which is used in this study was exercise of barrier’s jump in 50 cm with variations of sprint 5 meters 10 repetitions 3 sets and 5 repetitions 6 sets. This training aims to compare the training which further enhances the high jump, to find out the effectiveness of barrier’s jump of 50 cm with a variation of 5 meter sprint to the increasing of jump’s high. It had been conducted the research of experimental study with randomized pre- and post- test control group design. The numbers of the samples were 28 people that were divided into two groups, the number of each group was 14 people that were chosen randomize with a simple lottery. Group 1 was given the exercise of 50 cm barrier’s jump with variation of sprint was 5 meters 10 repetitions 3 sets, and group 2 was given 50 cm barrier’s jump with the sprint’s variation was 5 meters 5 repetitions 6 sets.
