Abstract

This study aims to develop functional food project learning tools for the food chemistry course. This project learning tools consist of an implementation guide accompanied by a project appraisal rubric. The development of learning tools was based on the Dick and Carey model with three stages: needs analysis, development, and validation. The needs analysis shows an increase in non-communicable diseases in Indonesia and the world. Functional food has not been taught in food chemistry courses and the abundance of local food in Lombok Island with its various functional potency. The development stage involves designing project instructions accompanied by an assessment rubric. Two experts in food chemistry carried out the validation stage of the project learning tools. The instrument used was a questionnaire related to the suitability of the project objectives with the learning outcomes of food chemistry, the clarity of project-based learning syntax, the relevance of project topics to Lombok food, aspects of the language used, and an assessment rubric. The results show that all validated aspects are accepted with a few notes which have been further improved. Thus, the project learning tools can be used for functional food projects in food chemistry courses.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an interactive e-module on redox concept. Research and Development (R&D) method was used in this study with a Plomp model. This model included three phases: preliminary, prototype or development, and assessment. Validation sheets and response questionnaires were used as research instruments. Six expert lecturers, consisting of three media and materials experts each, assessed the validity sheets. A small-scale test was carried out utilizing two approaches; a one-to-one test and a small group test. A one-to-one test was given to three students who had high, medium, and low abilities; while the small group test was conducted on three teachers and 30 students from three different schools, which are MAN 2 Pekanbaru, MAN 1 Pekanbaru, and SMA IT Al-fitiyah. The results showed that the interactive e-module was very valid and could be used in learning activities. This is indicated by the percentage of validation from material experts 89.27% and media experts 88.76%. In a small-scale trial for a one-on-one test, the teacher's response 95.83% with very practical criteria; and student response test 87.73% with interesting criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Schoology-based e-learning media and to find out the validity and response of users (teachers and students). The method used in this research was Research and Development (R&D) with the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. The implementation stage was not carried out due to the limitations of the research. Validation tests carried out by material and media experts as well as limited trials on students and teachers were obtained using a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis. The validation results from material and media expert showed the percentage of 93.23% and 90.69% in the valid category. The results of trial by student and teacher responses showed the percentage of 94.40% and 93.12% in good category. The Schoology-based e-learning media on ion equilibrium and buffer solutions is valid and suitable for use in online learning.

Abstract

The chemistry lecture at Universitas Nurtanio needs teaching materials innovation to increase students' activity and learning motivation. This research aims to develop worksheets on the material of elements, compounds, and the periodic table and determine the validity and practicality. The stages carried out in this study are the define, design, and development stages. The validity and practicality data analysis used the moment kappa (k) formula. The average validity and practicality are 0.87 and 0.77, respectively, with very high criteria. The validity and practical result indicate that a guided inquiry-based worksheet can be applied as teaching materials on elements, compounds, and the periodic table in lectures.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a multiple-choice chemical literacy test on solution chemistry as an instrument that specifically focuses on learners' knowledge and competency aspects; applying the test instrument by surveying 12th-grade high school students. The development of the test instrument adapted the R&D model by Borg and Gall. The Cronbach's Alpha reliability of the test was obtained after small-scale and wide-scale trials are 0.793 and 0.833, respectively, with 35 valid items. Data were collected using random cluster sampling with a total of 463 respondents. The result shows that the mean score of chemical literacy for the students in this study is 46.27. This indicated that the students' level of chemical literacy is low, and further improvement is required.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the worksheet's appearance and analyze the worksheet's validation test result based on POE (Predict, Observe, Explain). This research's objectives were to describe the development of a worksheet used in creating indicator papers from Aerva sanguinolenta plants and analyze the feasibility test result on its format. The stages of developing worksheets consist of preparation (define) the stage by analyzing research literature on indicator papers from Aerva sanguinolenta, planning stage by designing laboratory activities in worksheets, and development stage by conducting trials on worksheet products. The worksheet's feasibility was then tested. The results were validated with the average r-count value from the validators of 0.92, the average feasibility value percentage of 92%, the average r-count value from the students of 0.93, and the average feasibility value percentage of 93%. Therefore, the worksheet can be used as a learning aid for students in conducting experiments.

Abstract

Mastery of abstract chemistry concepts requires learning strategies to facilitate students to make mental imagery to the submicroscopic level. This study aims to analyze the differences in students' mastery of the ionic equilibrium in salt solutions concept by applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with multilevel representation. The study applied a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The research samples were 61 students of natural science 11th grade SMAN 6 Banjarmasin, which were determined by random cluster sampling. This test instrument is in the form of reasoned-multiple choice with a Content Validity Ratio (CVR) score of 1 (valid), reliability score of 0.96 (very high), difficulty index is moderate to difficult, distinguishing power is moderate to good, and sensitivity item is a sensitive category. Data were analyzed inferentially using an unpaired ttest. This research found that the PBL model with multilevel representation increased the students’ thinking ability at Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) levels. The student's mastery of the ionic equilibrium in salt solutions concept learned by using the PBL model with multilevel representation was better than by using the PBL model.
