Abstract

This study indents to investigate students’ perception of problem-solving skill and influence of Schoology on students’ ability to solve problems used in the criminal course in tertiary education. In reality, this course requires many activities involving students to solve various types of cases. This study used the quasi-experimental method at the class of criminal law. The students were from the Faculty of Law taking a 14 week enrolled in the Criminal course in the second semester. The instruments in this study were test and questionnaire.  Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. The overall, There are significant differences in problem-solving skills between the students who learn the material of solubility and constant solubility product using Problem-solving learning model through Schoology in the learning activities. Furthermore, this learning model can also be applied to overcome the lack of time allocation for face-to-face learning.

Abstract

Everyone has the right to have and determine the desired work, get a fair treat and get a decent wage, it is governed by the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. In general, working in the morning until evening, but there is also work carried out at night. The lawmakers pay special attention to the execution of work at night by providing a number of excusive rights as part of legal protection for workers. This research aims to determine the opportunities and challenges of applying the night work norms based Law No. 13 of 2003 on legal systems through legal substance, legal structure and legal culture analysis in the field of employment. TThe results of the research are in several Indonesian Regions there are still similar challenges regarding the implementation of night work norms. The authors also assess there are a number of opportunities for improvement in order for nighttime work norms to run well.

Abstract

Side-synchronizing between English reading teaching and learning and latest technology is highly encouraged to happen nowadays in order to get better learning achievement. The main purpose of this study was to find out the effect of Kahoot! on reading comprehension. This study involved 244 students of one of the established private universities in East Kalimantan. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics in the form of frequency, mean, standard deviation and t – test. The results showed that the students’ reading comprehension taught using Kahoot! was higher than that of those without Kahoot!. Furthermore, their cognitive, psychomotor and affective learning attitudes showed positive and significant effects as well. Based on the findings, it implies that online media like Kahoot! is strongly recommended to be used in reading teaching and learning process. It is expected that the finding would enrich and enlighten the relevant literature of the area.

Abstract

Pencalonan kepala daerah merupakan suatu tahapan awal dalam proses kontestasi politik untuk memperebutkan kekuasaan yang demokratis dan konstitusional di Indonesia. Kebebasan setiap orang untuk mencalonkan diri sebagai kepala daerah pada akhirnya dapat juga memberikan ekses negatif terhadap nilai-nilai keadilan dan demokrasi itu sendiri, meskipun kepala daerah yang nantinya terpilih merupakan hasil dari pemilihan yang mengandung nilai-nilai demokrasi seperti, langsung, umum, bebas, rahasia, jujur dan adil. Salah satu contoh adanya degradasi nilai demokrasi dan keadilan yang dihasilkan dari kebebasan pencalonan kepala daerah adalah adanya monopoli kekuasaan kepemimpinan daerah pada segelintir elit-elit tertentu saja. Secara hukum hal tersebut dapat dibenarkan karena tidak ada aturan yang melarangnya, namun secara moral dan etik yang demikian itu tidak dapat dibenarkan karena potensi untuk adanya penyalahgunaan kekuasaan akan menjadi semakin besar. Melihat pada kondisi tersebut, nampaknya dibutuhkan sudut pandang yang berbeda dalam menyikapi hal itu sehingga nilai demokrasi dan rasa keadilan masyarakat dapat terjaga. Sudut pandang itu ialah konsep hukum yang bersifat transendental, dimana untuk menentukan kebenaran dan keadilan di masyarakat bukan hanya mengacu terhadap kebenaran materil yang bersumber pada peraturan perundang-undangan, namun juga harus berlandaskan nilai moral, etika dan agama.

Abstract

Night working rules are legal provisions that give rights to female workers who work from 23:00 p.m.to 07:00 a.m.provided by employers. Night working rules for women have certain characteristics of potential hazards which are different from other profession. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of night working rules for female workers in Samarinda City. The specific target to be achieved in this study is to identify company that employs female workers from 23:00 p.m. to 07:00 a.m. and to review the role of labor inspectors in enforcing night working rules for female workers in Samarinda City. The method of this study is empirical legal research method which is analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study will be described analytically. The results of this study found that there were many violations of the night working rules, besides that female workers did not know what rights they should have gotten from their employers. The role of labor inspectors is still ineffective, even in some places there were some companies which night working rules had not been supervised by labor inspector. The implications of this research will be submitted to the Department of Manpower and Transmigration of East Kalimantan Province as a contribution of research information on the effectiveness of night working rules for female workers in Samarinda City.

Abstract

From the results of the study it can be seen that the issuance of certificate of ownership rights No. 317, 318, 320, 321, 322, 339, 340, 341 in Balikpapan City, eight of which certificates have no heritage and do not have strong legal force to the owners. Indonesia adheres to a negative publication system, but there is still an opportunity to file a lawasuit to the Court, meaning that the certificate of land rights is the strongest but not absolute. Then a certificate without a license does not have strong legal force if a claim is filed to the Court, while the efforts to submit a request for cancellation of the no-rights ownership certificate is by submitting a written request to the Balikpapan City Land Office and attaching copy of identity photocopy of certificate, photocopy of court decision, execution report and other documents related to cancellation. The court ruling was based on the Balikpapan City Land Office to issue a decision to cancel the certificate, in accordance with the ruling which had obtained permanent legal force.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the students learning styles, the English achievement, and the correlation between students’ learning styles and English achievement of the second-semester students of University of Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. The design of this study was quantitative research with a correlation design. The sample of the study was 56 students. The instruments of the study were the questionnaire of students’ learning styles and English achievement test. In order to make data become linear one, the researcher converted those data into Z-score and then correlated the converted data using correlate bivariate. The result of the study showed that the mean score of students’ learning styles was 50, that means fair. There were 21 students (38%) preferred visual learning styles, 15 (27%) of students preferred reading learning styles, 13 (23%) students preferred kinesthetic learning styles, 4 (7%) students preferred auditory learning styles and 3 (5%) preferred used two learning styles. Thus, the mean score of students’ English achievement was 50, that means fair. On the other word, there was a significant correlation between students’ learning styles and English achievement. Based on the finding above, it is suggested to language learner to be familiar with their learning styles so that they can benefit the strength of styles and manipulate the weakness of styles. For language teacher, they may take learners style into account for the sake of different learning strategies and ways in carrying out the lesson in the classroom so that they can promote learner’s need.

Abstract

Background:In this modern era, intelligent and capable human resources to solve issues in the law field are necessary. Project-based learning with technology integration is perhaps one of the solutions to yield such human resources. However, the previous studies did not put much attention on the implementation of technology into project-based learning. This study therefore aims to examine the effect of project-based learning on students’ problem-solving abilityMethodology:This study implemented a quantitative approach by administering a quasi-experimental design with the one group design pre-test and post-tests. This study involved 49 students who were taking a criminal law course in a university in Indonesia to obtain the data through administering tests.Findings:The data were then analysed by performing paired sample t-test analysis and showed that t (96) = 67.67, p < 0.001.Conclusion:In conclusion, project-based learning with technology integration can enhance the students’ problem-solving ability in a criminal law course. In addition, there are two implications discussed in this article.
