Abstract

Cattle are a type of ruminants which are relatively more favored by the general public; but this increase in livestock business has a positive impact, namely producing main products such as meat, milk, and also has a negative impact in the form of livestock waste, which is residual waste in the form of solid and liquid waste such as feces, urine and feed residue. The application of appropriate technology by utilizing cow urine liquid waste into fertilizing material or fertilizer after going through a fermentation process to become a liquid organic fertilizer that is beneficial to plants. This study aims to determine the effect of giving urine urine POC concentration and soaking time and its interaction on stem cuttings of vines so as to increase the initial growth rate. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded as follows: 1. There is a significant interaction effect of cow urine POC concentration factors and soaking time on the length of shoots of grape cuttings, the best value achieved by the P3L2 treatment combination gives a better value of 16.17 cm at the end observation (42 days) compared to other treatment combinations. 2. There is a significant effect of cow urine POC concentration factors as well as immersion long factors on the growth of grape cuttings on the variables studied, including: speed of engagement, number of leaves; although it has no significant effect on the variable bud diameter, number of shoots, root length and number of root cuttings. Overall the best value tends to be achieved by the treatment of P3 and P4, namely 30-40 ml per liter of water and L2 treatment, which is 30 minutes soaking time. Keywords: Cattle Urine POC, Vine Stem Cuttings.

Abstract

The number of clumps per hectare is influenced by the percentage of germination of kinds of seeds used (Tamelsilva, 2006). Increasing the production of sugar cane as a raw material for sugar is absolutely necessary. One of the causes of the decline in sugarcane productivity is the problem in the use of seeds, such as sugarcane seeds used by farmers who are less qualified (Iskandar, 2005). The study was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Merdeka University, Surabaya, in March-April 2017. Using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of six treatment combinations with three replications and two sample plants. As for the combination treatment, as follows: A (Variety LPS-864 and Buds Buds section 20); B (Variant LPS-864 and Mata Tunas Middle-segment-14); C (Variety of LPS-864 and Mata Tunas at the base of Section-08); D (Variety of LPS-891 and Buds section of Section-20); E (Variant LPS-891 and Mata Tunas Middle-segment-14); F (Variety of LPS-891 and Mata Tunas at the base of segment-08). The results showed that the treatment of the combination of the location of the buds and varieties significantly affected the observation of the number of leaves, but the effect was very significant on the variable of germination speed and length of the plant and the wet weight of the plant. Combination treatment of bud location on segment-20 (shoots) on the sugar cane varieties LPS-891 and cane varieties LPS-864 showed the best results on all observational variables, although the highest results always indicated the location of bud-section 20 buds (shoots) on sugarcane varieties LPS-891, but statistically not significantly different.

Abstract

Garbage is a very large natural resource originating from housing and markets which ultimately waste becomes an important problem for densely populated urban areas if not utilized properly. Composting is basically an effort to activate microbial activities in order to accelerate the decomposition process of organic matter. The result of the reshuffle is called compost which is used as fertilizer that can provide nutrients for plants and improve soil fertility.)This activity is the implementation of appropriate technology in the mass composting of urban organic waste, especially in the empowerment of urban agricultural land (urban faming) which is carried out in the RW area. 02 Kalirungkut Village, Rungkut District, Surabaya City. The models offered to solve the problem of urban organic waste for partners are: 1). Help prepare assistance to improve expertise and skills in the management of urban organic waste mass composting; 2). Provide support in mobilizing community participation so that they consciously and voluntarily understand waste problems in order to become compost products that are beneficial for the cultivation of productive plants and greening the surrounding environment; The results of the implementation of this appropriate technology show that there is awareness of community participation in waste management by implementing the 3R (reduce, refuse, recycle) aimed at reducing the amount of waste starting at the source by sorting household waste in the form of organic waste and inorganic waste. With the urban agriculture movement, it can be an alternative to maintain family food security, besides being able to make a major contribution in providing green open space
