Abstract

Pedestrian paths or commonly referred to as pedestrian paths are public facilities that must exist in every place and one of them must be found in the campus area. If the pedestrian path on campus does not make it comfortable and safe, it will have an impact on the psychology of students in walking activities and prefer to use motorized vehicles. In improving the evaluation of the quality of campus environmental infrastructure that is comfortable and safe for its users, the comfort of pedestrian paths is very important for pedestrians. In this case, the comfort evaluation for pedestrian paths was held. The methods used in collecting data for this research are Descriptive Quantitative and Qualitative Methods, namely by observing directly to the research site and interviewing in private for convenience and further expressing views on pedestrian paths in the ITERA campus environment. Based on an assessment of 7 aspects, pedestrian paths or pedestrians at ITERA are lacking in terms of condition and comfort. The arrangement of the trees is also good and pedestrians also feel safe when walking. Cleanliness on the pedestrian path is clean with free space for movement. The zone that is less comfortable when traveling is in zone C because many students attend classes in the area. The expected facilities are vegetation, seating for resting and also road crossing markers.

Abstract

Located on the coast of the city of Bandar Lampung, Kampung Sinar Laut is a marginal village whose development has received little attention from the City Government because it is an informal settlement where the residents' houses stand on the edge of the sea and most of them are above sea level. The existence and growth of informal settlements in Sinar Laut Village is accompanied by the emergence of various environmental and social problems that have not been identified, including potential areas that may not have been explored, which is the background for this participatory mapping activity. By identifying and mapping problems or potential areas in the form of participatory village maps, it can be used as a basis for resolving environmental and social problems in marginal villages, including being used as a reference in village upgrading, planning and designing urban village development. Using participatory methods involves local residents in making maps, depictions, and village information into valid real data. In its implementation, the people of Kampung Sinar Laut succeeded in mapping the problems and potential in their environment actively and together, then produced an output in the form of a physical map of Kampung Sinar Laut, regarding the location of the physical elements of the environment and their problems, data and number of residents, annual disasters, conditions. socio-economic-cultural, as well as regional potential that can be developed. With the hope that the results of participatory mapping can be utilized by residents, village and city governments, academics, partners, and other parties.

The research is framed by qualitative method descriptively through collecting data and observing areas is accomplished by a snapshot surveying in a certain time. The method of data analysis is constructed by technical quality analysis based on facts and perception. The findings are the shortage of public space availability influences dwellers’ interaction and they bond engagement in semi-public zones, such as terraces and yards, where dwellers share the private house area to facilitate social activities. The lack of public space availability makes folks reorganise the existing public space and complete the additional facilities, features, or infrastructure to facilitate better social interaction and enhance comfort in Kampung Cungkeng.Â
