Abstract

At present the yam milling is still a lot of using manual methods, namely by pounding yams using mortar, where this work takes a long time so that the required results are not maximal. So to simplify and shorten the processing of yam mills, a yam grinding machine is made with the aim to speed up the work and get maximum results so that it can meet the needs of the market. This sweet potato grinding machine is a tool to grind yams in an automatic way that can be used as needed, so that the work can be completed quickly. This engine is driven with 1 hp and 1450 rpm rotation, forwarded to a drive pulley that is 4 inches in diameter, and a 6 inch pully driven, as a round connector used a V. type belt. This 4 inch diameter will move a reducer with a rotation ratio of 1 : 40 then forwarded to the drive shaft, the shaft used is 30 mm in diameter, where the shaft used is the shaft shafts. The threaded shaft is made of stainless steel, and at the end of the shaft there are 4 pieces of knife blade which are used to chop up unripe yam fibers. Machine frame material from steel elbow plate (propil "L") 3 x 30 x 30 mm, frame length = 800 mm, frame width = 420 mm, frame height = 520 mm. The planned engine capacity is 50 kg /hour.

Abstract

In this design a melinjo pounding machine is made with a capacity of 30 kg / hour with a vertical pestle. The mechanism for melinjo collision is to put melinjo into the funnel provided, then the collector will pound the melinjo that has been inserted. 3 pulleys were used with nominal diameters of 7 inches, 8 inches and 8 inches, belts with 49 inches long belts, 2 gears with 6 inches diameter, 1 conveyor belt with 94 cm lengths and 3 inches wide, pulverizer rods with 25 cm length and diameter of 40 mm, with a frame height of 95 cm, width 42 cm. Shaft material is made of S35C with a tensile strength of 53 kg / mm2, shear stress clearance (τa) shaft material, (τa) = 4,417 (kg / mm2), twisting or torque occurring, T = 519 (kg.mm), diameter permitted shaft = 16 (mm), shaft diameter used in bearings = 20 (mm), Twisting angle that occurs, θ = 0.0471 (°), the shaft is declared safe because the shaft used for the defect is smaller than the provisions which have been set .
