Abstract

The social adjustment as a process of adjustment to takes place in a sustainable. In their life, a person will be confronted with two realities that is self and their surroundings. Foster children that break the rules of orphanage, irresponsible, and unable to communicate well is indicative of the low social adjustment. REBT looked that the inability of individuals in interpersonal relationship resulting from irrational thinking. One of the efforts made to improve social adjustment is by doing REBT approach.  This research was aimed at revealing the effectiveness of REBT approach in improving foster care social adjustment. This research is a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. By using Simple Random Sampling technique. The class consisted of 10 students the treatment was given in 6 meetings. The instrument was a scale model of Likert. Data were analyzed by using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test assisted with SPSS versi 20.00. The result indicates that, in general, REBT approach Setting Group was effective in improving the social adjustment of foster children in orphanages Wira Lisna Padang. Meanwhile, in particular, there was a significant differences in the average scores between the social adjustment foster children before and after doing REBT approach Setting Group.

Abstract

The learning process in university level is quite different from the former education levels so that the students need to be adapted to. The students, in fact, were still unaccustomed to the learning style, unserious and frequently absent from the class, did not do assignment as they were required, and did not submit the tasks on the time they were due. This research was intended to describe the students’ learning style and learning skill and its implication in Guidance and Counseling service. This research could be classified into descriptive study. The population of the research was 1021 students in the Faculty of Education of UNP. By using purposive random sampling technique and Taro Yamane formula, 287 students were taken as the sample. The instrument of the research was the scale of Likert model. The data obtained were analyzed by using percentage technique. The correlation between learning style and learning outcomes was tested by using Chi Square, and correlation between learning skill and learning outcomes was tested by using Spearman Rank Correlation.  The results of the research revealed that: (1) the learning style dominantly applied by the students of the Faculty of Education of UNP was visual learning style which was used by 49.13% students, (2) the learning skill of the students of the Faculty of Education of UNP was in average category (68.18%), (3) there was a significant correlation between learning style and learning outcomes, and (4) there was a significant correlation between learning skill and learning outcomes. The implication of these research findings toward Guidance and Counseling Service was it was necessary to cooperate with other related parties to optimize the students’ learning style, learning skill and  learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research were to see the difference between learning motivation of students in the experimental group taught by applying group guidance service through understanding the verses of Alquran in pretest and posttest, the difference between learning motivation of the students in the experimental group taught by applying group guidance service throught understanding the verses of Alquran and that of the students in the countrol group taught by applying group guidance service without understanding the verses of  Alquran in pretest and posttest, and the difference between learning motivation of the students in the  experimental group guidance services throught understanding the verses of a Alquran and that of students in the control group guidance taught by applying group guidance service throught understanding the verses of Alquran. This research aplied pretest posttest control group design. Throught this research, the researcher gave a pretest to both sample groups. They then got different treatment. After the  treatment was done, a posttest was administrated to both groups. This kind of eksperimental researches would ensure that the difference (if the result is different) occurs between the experimental group and the control group is as the influence of the treatment given. The resesarch findings indicated that learning motivation of the students taught by applying group guidance service throught understanding the verses of Alquran increased.

Abstract

Abstract Self-regulation is influenced by some factors, like achievement motivation. Students’ inability to regulate themselves in learning is reflected through doing truant. This research is aimed at describing: (1) self-regulation of truant student, (2) achievement motivation of truant students, (3) the contribution of achievement motivation toward self-regulation of truant student, (4) the impact of achievement motivation and self-regulation of truant students toward guidance and counseling services. This research used quantitative approach with descriptive and correlation methods.  The population of this research was 35 students of class X and XI MAN 2 Payakumbuh. The sample of this research was 35 students using total sampling method, who ever did truant at least 5 times in a semester. The data was collected aquestionnaire and analyzed by using descriptive statistics and analysis of simple linear regression. The finding of this research: (1) the level of achievement motivation of truant students was high, (2) the level of self-regulation of truant students was high, (3) contribution of achievement motivation toward self-regulation of truant students was 34,6% with a significant 0,000. In order to develop self-regulation of the truant students, the guidance and counseling can give counseling service through: (1) information services related to the importance happy to subject teachers and the material presented so that we are not saturated in learning, (2) guidance and group service to the topic of harm ditching task and the importance of learning, (3) mastering content service mastery tips on improving achievement motivation and self-regulation. Theservice programis doingtoincrease of achievementmotivationandself-regulationstudents, so the studentscan do self regulationandachievementin learning.

Abstract

Direction of career planning become very important because it can guidelines students in decisions making of his career in the future.  Direction of career planning should be prepared and improved considering that not all students have a mature direction of career planning. Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Sumatera in August 2014 recorded the open unemployment of about 6.99%  or reach 150 thousand people are more dominated by graduates SMK as much as 11.15%. In addition, the results of AUM umum in one of the SMK was indicated problems in careers and jobs as much to 33.56%. This demonstrates that students do not have a clear understanding about direction of career planning that will be chosen. One of the efforts to improve the students direction of career planning is the information service.  This research was intended to find out the effectiveness of information service with contextual teaching and learning approach to improve the direction of career planning student of SMK.This study uses quantitative methods. This type of research is Quasi Experiment with Nonrandomized Control Group Pretest-posttest Design. The subjects were students of SMK Padang Nusatama as an experimental group and the SMK Nasional Padang as a control group. The research instrument used Likert Scale models, and then analyzed using Paired Samples t-test and Independent Sample t-test with SPSS version 17.00.In general the study's findings that information service with contextual teaching and learning approach is effective in improving direction of career planning student of SMK. Specifically: (1) there was a significant differences between direction of career planning in the experimental group before and after the given information service with contextual teaching and learning approach, (2) there was a significant differences between direction of career planning in the control group before and after the given conventional information service, and (3) there was a significant differences between direction of career planning in the experimental group who were information service with contextual teaching and learning approach and those in the control group who were conventional information service.

Abstract

Counselor is one of the educators who assist students in understanding their career will live in the future. Specifically for vocational students, information about the types of careers that have been linked to employment, position or career aspired after completing studies in education are taken. The purpose of this study to describe: 1) understanding students majoring in Tourism Vocational Nusatama Padang on the type of career information and a description of the types of careers, 2) attempts to provide insight counselor to students about careers Nusatama SMK Padang Tourism department. The population was 156 students. The number of sample was 111 students and have been using cluster random sampling technique. The findings of the study are: 1) students understand the types of careers and career descriptions are in the middle category, 2) counselor need to further improve the students in understanding the type and career description. Therefore counselors need to improve guidance and counseling services related to an increase students' understanding of career information and descriptions of tourism department, so students are prepared to enter the workforce.

Abstract

Self Adjustmentin school environment is a process that covers mental responses and behavior change in which the students struggle for managing their needs, tension, conflicts and frustration so that they could harmonize their needs and the school’s demands. One of the approaches done to develop the students’ self adjustment was reality therapy. This research was aimed at revealing: the average score of the students’ self adjustment in school environment before and after reality therapy was applied; and the effectiveness of group counseling by using reality therapy approach in developing the students’ self adjustment in school environment.This research applied quantitative method. This was a pre-experimental research which used the one group pre-test post-test design. The subject of the research was chosen by using non-random sampling technique and purposive sampling method. The subject consisted of twelve students who were categorized into maladjustment and well adjusted. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Sungai Tarab for six meetings. The instrument of the research was self adjustment scale of Likert scale model. The data gathered were analyzed by using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test of statistic non-parametric technique assisted with SPSS version 20.00.The research findings revealed that, in general, group counseling by using reality therapy approach was effective in developing the students’ self adjustment in school environment. Meanwhile, in particular, there was a difference between self adjustment score of the students before and after group counseling by using reality therapy approach was applied. Based on the research findings, it was conluded that the students’ self adjustment in school environment could be developed through group counseling by using reality therapy approach.

Abstract

This research was aimed at revealing the role of the Guidance and Counseling teachers and the lesson teachers in preventing among the students at SMK 5 Kota Padang. This was a descriptive qualitative research. The sample of the research was 8 Guidance and Counseling teachers and 58 lesson teachers which were chosen through proportional random sampling technique. The data was colleted through questionnaires of likert scale. The data then was analyzed by using percentage technique. The result of data analysis revealed that: 1) generally, the Guidance and Counseling teachers often took their role in preventing the fighting among the students. This could be seen from: a) they frequently help the students in building their self-concept about self-potential and peer-relationship, b) they frequently help the students in building their environmental understanding on family and school concepts, c) they sometimes gave a broad understanding on information about social, culture, law and religion values d) they sometimes worked cooperatively with the school communities, d) they frequently work cooperatively with the family of the students. 2) generally, the lesson teacher often took their role in preventing fighting among the students through, a) understanding the students characteristics, b) creating a conducive atmosphere socio-psychologically in the classroom, c) performing a mature personality and d) working cooperatively with the Guidance and Counseling teachers.

Abstract

Analisis Transaksional adalah salah satu pendekatan dalam pelayanan bimbingan dan konseling yang digunakan untuk melihat tipe kepribadian indvidu melalui ego state (child, adult, Parents) yang dimunculkan ketika berkomunikasi dengan orang lain. Tujuan dari pendekatan analisis transaksional ini agar klien mampu mempromosikan dirinya dengan tepat serta berupaya untuk berkomunikasi dengan terbuka, wajar, dan paham dalam berhubungan dengan orang lain. Pendekatanan analisis transaksional ini cenderung mengarah kepada aspek kognitif dan behavioral yang dirancang untuk membantu individu dalam mengevaluasi putusan yang ambilnya. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kepustakaan (Library Reasearch) dengan mengkaji secara mendalam pendekatan analisis transaksional dilihat dari berbagai perspektif konseling. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis isi. Temuan dari studi ini mengungkapkan bahwa pendekatan analisis transaksional dapat dipakai oleh konselor sekolah dalam pelayanan konseling terutama untuk melihat hubungan sosial klien ketika bekomunikasi baik digunakan dengan format individual, kelompok serta klasikal.
