Abstract

Collateral Effect to Bank Loan Probability for Microenterprises in West SumateraThis paper reveals that West Sumatera banking sector are more likely using the availability of collateral for the credit to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). Using 384 sample size from MSME in West Sumatera, if a MSME have enough collateral, the probability of their credit application to be rejected by banks will fall from 59.9% to 11.7% comparing to they don’t have enough collateral. This finding proved a credit guarantee scheme is needed, and for the further study it is recommended to conduct research on the characteristic of the potentials of MSME as a credit scoring model for banks.

We found the contradictory effect of household income on decision to migrate between motives. Income has negative effect in risk coping as migration motives, otherwise have positive effect in investment motive. --------------------------------------- Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis alasan dibalik motif migrasi di antara rumah tangga perdesaan berdasarkan karakteristik rumah tangga dan karakteristik daerah asal. Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the factors which influence banking customers' financial asset ownership. Using the pyramid of Maslahah framework, the study classifies the needs of banking customers into four levels: those for basic financial services (hajjiyat); for financial assets for security or as a precaution (darruriyat); for financial assets for investment (tahsiniyah); and those for financial assets for religious purposes. To answer the research questions, a binomial logistic model was applied and the primary data were collected using a questionnaire survey with 300 respondents in Indonesia. It was found that the pattern of ownership of financial assets follows the order proposed in the theory of the pyramid of Maslahah. The study also found that financial asset ownership for transaction needs was mainly influenced by the variables of income and credit and that ownership of such assets for security or precautionary needs was largely determined by life cycle variables. In addition, ownership for investment needs was strongly influenced by the level of education, and for religious needs it was mainly determined by income levels and life cycle variables. The study findings provide important information for mapping the financial needs of Islamic banking customers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the socio-economic conditions as a trigger factor and determining the feasibility of splitting of district and municipalities in West Sumatra. This study uses weighting and scores for each of the socio-economic variables. Based on the analysis, there is potential for expansion in the 7 (seven) district in West Sumatra, this occurs most likely driven by the extent of the area owned, so that public services received by the public to be less than the maximum. Besides the area factor here too there are ethnic differences in factors (culture) which can promote regional expansion. Of the seven districts that have the possibility of splitting the area when viewed in terms of feasibility level, the Pesisir Selatan District and District Sijunjung have a very viable category in terms of ability and local financial and human resources quality, while four other districts get qualify for the split.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the difference between the length of time looking for work and the length of time to prepare a business for the workforce who are already working in terms of education level, wages, age, gender, work experience, training, marital status, and area of residence. The total unit of analysis used is 666 individual samples sourced from the August 2020 Labor Force Survey (SAKERNAS) data for the West Sumatra Province. The analytical method used is Poisson regression. The results of the Poisson regression show that the higher the level of education, the opportunities to find work and the opportunity to prepare for a business will be longer than the level of education below high school. The results of this study also show that wages/salaries equally affect the opportunity to look for work and the time to prepare for a business in West Sumatra Province.

Abstract

This study analyzes the socio-economic effect on the efficiency of electrical energy use in the urban household sector in West Sumatra (Urban Area Case Study) in 2020. The results of this study explain that the variables of per capita expenditure, education, employment status, age, and communication technology have a positive effect on the intensity of electrical energy use. While the variable of building ownership status is the only variable that has a negative effect on the intensity of electricity use in the urban household sector in West Sumatra. The decrease in the intensity of the use of electrical energy in the urban household sector in West Sumatra reflects the condition of efficiency in the use of electrical energy. On the other hand, the increase in the intensity of use of electrical energy in the urban household sector in West Sumatra reflects conditions in the efficient use of electrical energy.
