Abstract

This research discusses the implementation of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) in the Campus Teaching Program at SMP Negeri 1 Kota Sorong, Southwest Papua. The research methodology employed is descriptive analysis, involving eighth-grade students as research subjects. Various work programs were implemented, such as Canva-based digital learning, "Spin the Wheel" games, collective film-watching activities, the Zero Waste program, and digital crossword puzzles. The research results indicate that the implementation of VPA has had a positive impact on students' learning experiences, enhancing technological skills, student interest, environmental awareness, and students' enthusiasm in answering questions. Additionally, visual and performing arts also contribute to the success of English language instruction. This research also highlights the importance of creativity in the language teaching process and the role of media, especially technology, in enhancing the effectiveness of teaching and learning. In conclusion, the implementation of VPA in the Campus Teaching Program has successfully enriched students' learning experiences through the obtained activity results.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze and to identify kinds of errors made by students of Junior High School in constructing negative and interrogative sentences in simple present tense. This research used comprehensive literature review from various source. By the result, it is informed the proportion of students’ simple present error in constructing interrogative sentence based on surface strategy taxonomy, the percentage omission is 80.9%, addition is 0.20%, misformation is 0,47%, and misordering is 0.62%. so that the most common error committed by the students in constructing negative and interrogative sentence is omission error. The finding of this research provide a literature for English teachers and also for students, should pay more attention to writing teaching and learning process and also stress on the material in which difficult for the students. They may use a new method in teaching learning process especially in teaching grammar about simple present tense .

Abstract

This research aims at finding out the types of code-switching used by the students in the English as a foreign language classroom interaction. The research employed descriptive qualitative research design. The subjects were the students of English language education program. All of them used Papuan Malay language in their daily life but in class they used Indonesian language as mother tongue and English language as target language. The researcher findings that there are five types of code-switching that used by the students in EFL classroom interaction. Those Inter – sentential, Intra – sentential, and tag switching. For each type, the switch frequently used was as a clause, then as a word, and the last was as a sentence. They used them to clarify what they said because they tended to repeat or tried to translate the words again, and another reason was switching the words into the daily language was one of the ways to use to continue speaking. The impact of code-switching on TEFL was extremely beneficial since it may be utilized as a method or tactic in teaching English content, pushing students to talk, evaluating problems, and encouraging students to keep speaking in EFL classroom.

Abstract

Personality is considered as one of the internal factors that has an impact on students' ability to learn languages. This research explores the impact of personality type on their English writing abilities, with a focus on Introverts. The test aims for objectivity, clarity, and precision, with formal notes and adherence to conventional academic structures and grammatical rules. Qualitative descriptive were used in this research. The sample for this research was students of the Seventh Semester English Language Education Writing Class of 2022/2023 at the University of Papua. The instruments used to collect data were the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Test and Interview. Researchers use purposive sampling where the sample to be interviewed must have a high percentage of introverts. To find out, researchers distributed the MBTI test link to 20 samples. Of the 20 samples who took the MBTI test, there were 9 samples who were classified as introverts. furthermore, from the 9 samples, the researcher chose 4 samples to be interviewed. The results of this research reveal that every student who has an introverted personality does not necessarily have good writing skills, but the habits of students who have an introverted personality such as reading non-fiction or fiction books and writing stories about everyday life can help the students to improve their writing skills

Abstract

Program kampus mengajar merupakan salah satu program pemerintah untuk mewujudkan kegiatan MBKM (Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka). Program ini didasari atas kurang efektifnya pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan di masa pandemi Covid-19. Hal tersebut terlihat dari menurunnya minat belajar peserta didik, tingkat pemahaman peserta didik ketika pembelajaran, dan kemampuan literasi dan numerasi peserta didik.Program ini diperuntukan mahasiswa dari seluruh program studi di perguruan tinggi untuk berkontribusi dalam memajukan pendidikan dasar terutama di daerah 3T. Adapun kegiatan kampus mengajar ini meliputi : kegiatan literasi dan numerasi, adaptasi teknologi dan administrasi yang dilaksanakan di salah satu sekolah dasar yakni SD YPPK WILLIBRODUS 1. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, tujuan dari penelitian yang dilakukan adalah melihat perkembangan keterampilan literasinumerasi siswa di sebuah sekolah dasar di Kabupaten Sorong Papua barat yang terdapat hambatan dan tantangan tersendiri dalam proses meningkatkan keterampilan literasi dan numerasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan peneliti bertindak sebagai observer. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa siswa kelas 2b sangat tertarik dengan pembelajaran yangmenggunakan media pembelajaran dan metode pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara berkelompok membuat pembelajaran sangat efektif sehingga perkembangan keterampilan dan numerasi terdapat peningkatan pada kelompok siswa belum fasih membaca dan semakin baik pada kelompok siswa yang sudah fasih membaca".

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas II SD Muhammadiyah Malawili Kabupaten Sorong melalui metode pembelajaran fonik dalam meningkatkan literasi membaca. Pemahamamn terkait bacaan dalam proses belajar terhambat karena kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam literasi membaca. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari rendahnya hasil capaian belajar siswa dengan KKM (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum) sangat rendah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan prosedur penelitian melalui perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak 2 kali siklus dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas II yang berjumlah 28. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu, dalam siklus I rata-rata hasil belajar siswa 67,75 dengan presentase ketuntasan klasikal 71,72%. Sementara dalam siklus II rata-rata hasil belajar siswa mencapai nilai 82,61 dengan presentase ketuntasan klasikal 79% yang masuk kaegori tinggi. Dari data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan literasi membaca siswa melalui metode pembelajaran fonik pada siswa kelas II SD Muhammadiyah Malawili Kabupaten Sorong.Abstract: This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of second-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah Malawili, Sorong Regency, through the phonics teaching method to enhance reading literacy. Understanding related to reading in the learning process is hindered due to the lack of students' reading literacy skills. This is indicated by the low student achievement with a very low Minimum Mastery Criterion (MMC). This research was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with a research procedure involving planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research was carried out in two cycles, with the research subjects being 28 second-grade students. The results of this study show that in the first cycle, the average student learning outcome was 67.75, with a classical completeness percentage of 71.72%. Meanwhile, in the second cycle, the average student learning outcome reached 82.61, with a classical completeness percentage of 79%, categorized as high. From this data, it can be concluded that there is an improvement in students' reading literacy through the phonics teaching method among second-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah Malawili, Sorong Regency.
