Abstract

The tourism sector has now become an important and strategic industry in  improving a country's economy. This is not only limited to foreign exchange income for the State, but can also increase people's economic activity, especially the home crafts industry and small industries in general. Apart from that, the hotel and restaurant industry is also growing with various other economic linkages. For Indonesia, the tourism industry plays an important role in the economy, so it is formally outlined in the Medium Term Development Plan which places the tourism industry as a strategic industry for economic growth. Then it was adopted by the Maluku Provincial Government in the 2019-2024 National Medium Term Development Plan by placing it as one of the regions in the Eastern Region of Indonesia with various potential features. This specialty is not only in terms of historical aspects but also various natural beauties and local uniqueness in terms of traditions, culture and society. The potential tourist attractions of Maluku Province in the entire area or scope of existing districts are diverse (RPJMD 2019-2024).

Abstract

Government initiatives to improve public services are critically necessary by taking into account the region’s entire potential. The regional government employs infrastructure development for public services by allocating funds in the form Regional Government Budget (RGB)) from the regional capital expenditure budgets. The infrastructure development allows the regional government to collect levies and taxes on to boost the Local Own-Source   Revenue This study aims to investigate the causality between regional capital expenditure and Local Own-Source Revenue in 11 regencies / cities in Maluku province for a 10-year period (2011-2020). A quantitative method using a Granger causality approach was employed. The data was collected using a purposive sampling method from the Statistics Indonesia of Maluku and analysis with Multiple Linear Regression Method. The results show that there is a unidirectional relationship between the Local Own-Source Revenue and regional capital expenditure. However, there is no causal relationship between regional capital expenditure and Regional Original Income. These results indicate that capital expenditure does not indicate the funding source for Local Own-Source. The implication is that Local Own-SOurce has not been able to meet capital expenditure needs. Therefore, the ability of regional governments to optimize regional income sources through extensification and intensification of potential economic sources reduces regional governments' dependence on central government finance.

Abstract

Efforts to promote micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) are frequently limited by the knowledge on promotion, particularly because they rely on the word of mouth and the customers are the nearby communities. In fact, advertising on Google Maps is a powerful way to attract more customers. For this reason, the Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM)) aims to train and mentor MSME partners in Rijali Village, Sirimau District, Ambon City in developing Google Maps-based business location tags for promotional purposes, delivered through lectures with elaborated explanation and demonstration. There was a total of 25 MSME partners participated in these PkM activities which took place on October 13 – 17, 2023. After the training and mentoring, there is an increase in the MSME partners’ knowledge and promotion skills using Google Maps compared to their pre-test score. The PkM output results in the MSMEs in Rijali Village being tagged on Google Maps.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between regional revenues and regional expenditures. To achieve this, the method of canonical correlation analysis is employed. The research results show that in terms of regional revenues, regional income (Pendapatan Asli Daerah or PAD), general allocation funds (Dana Alokasi Umum or DAU) and gross regional domestic product (Produk Domestik Regional Bruto or PDRB) do not have a significant relationship. On the other hand, concerning regional expenditures, population size demonstrates a significant relationship, whereas routine expenditure and capital expenditure do not exhibit significance. It is noteworthy that the influence of regional spending on regional revenue surpasses the influence of regional revenue on regional spending. This implies that the government, in collaboration with the legislative body, is significantly influenced by the targeted regional spending in determining the regional revenue amount.
