Abstract

The learning experience of education in Indonesia, as described in the Character Education Master Design document, is built through a habituation approach. Meanwhile, Ibn Miskawaih states that character building is created through habit and practice. The synchronization of both is needed to optimize the implementation of character education in Indonesia today. Habituation in character education is a form of practice that is carried out continuously from the cognitive and practical faculties, which are actualized in behavioral attitudes, by directing them to perfection gradually, based on the thought, until they get used to these behavioral attitudes, then this condition continues until the end of time. In a relatively long time, it becomes a character.

Abstract

Students who are in the adolescence phase begin to show an interest in the opposite sex as shown by dating behavior. The phenomenon of dating behavior among adolescents today shows a wrong perception such as to prove love, they often engage in hand-holding, kissing, hugging and even having sex which is clearly prohibited in Islam. If the problem is not immediately revealed, it will cause serious moral damage to adolescents. The study aims to reveal students ' perception of free sex behavior in terms of gender differences. The research method used was the comparative quantitative type with the research respondents of the State Junior High School 24 Kerinci which consisted of  78 people. The research Data were revealed with a scale of free sex behavior and analyzed by using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that there were different perceptions between male and female students to free sex behavior namely the score was 0,005 sig.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the students' motivation of non-English Department—intrinsic and extrinsic—in learning English. It was carried out at the second-grade students of the Quran Science and interpretation study program (IAT) academic year 2020/2021. This study employed descriptive-survey research. There were 34 students becoming the participants of this study.  The researchers employed the questionnaire, which consisted of twelve statements to get the data about students’ motivation. it was divided to nine statements about intrinsic motivation and three statements for extrinsic motivation. The data obtained revealed that for intrinsic motivations level, the students were at a high level of motivation with a total mean score of 4. 09 and for extrinsic motivation, the total mean score was 3.97, and it showed that students were also at high level of motivation. Thus, it can be summarized that the students have both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in studying English although they were non-English Department students. Moreover, the students’ intrinsic motivation in learning English was higher than extrinsic motivation. It can be said that the students were able to control themselves to learn English, even though there was not much external motivation from lecturers or others. Regarding the result of this research, future researchers are expected to conduct depth research related to this topic. Moreover, the English lecturers who teach the students from the non-English department who are motivated should have good techniques and methods in teaching them, in the order they can achieve their goals in learning English.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to reveal: (a) the teaching process by using mind-mapping technique, (b) the students’ writing ability. This was classroom action research which took place at Islamic Boarding School Al-Munawwaroh Bangko. The participants were ninth grade students that consisted of 23 female students in the class. This research was conducted in three cycles, and each cycle consisted of three meetings. In collecting the data, the researcher employed observation, field note, and tests. For the test, the researcher utilized writing test in the third meeting of every cycle; students were asked to write or compose the paragraph based on the given topic related to their mind map. The result showed that the teaching and learning process by using mind mapping was more interesting, and students were participated more active than before. They are enthusiastic in recalling and brainstorming the words related to the topic given. The data also indicated that there are enhancements of students’ writing after they were taught using mind-mapping technique which could be seen from the improvements of students’ score from the preliminary data to the final data. Consequently, mind mapping technique is highly recommended in teaching and in improving students’ writing.

Abstract

This study analyzed the category shift on the translation of nominal suffixes in English and their equivalents in Indonesian. The data are taken from the novel Little Women by Louisa May Alcott and the Indonesian version translated by Annisa Cinantya Putri. This study used a qualitative method while the category shift was analyzed using Hatim & Munday framework. The result of the research shows that there are three kinds of shift that occurred: Class-shift (the changes of word classes), Structure-shift (the initial headword in English becomes the final in Indonesian), and Unit-shift (the changes of rank). The English nominal suffixes that are found in the novel can be equivalent to Indonesian affixes (suffix, prefix, confix, affix) combination reduplication, word, and phrase.

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted to find out how students perceive the effectiveness of implementing online education during the corona virus outbreak, and to find out what factors are inhibiting and supporting the implementation of online learning during the pandemic. The research method uses quantitative methods, through descriptive surveys. Data collection techniques with questionnaires, interview respondents in this study amounted to 350 students. The results of this study show. Student perceptions of online learning during the pandemic showed that 24.7% of students were satisfied with the implementation of online learning and 75.3% of students expressed dissatisfaction with the implementation of online learning. Student perceptions about the application used zoom meeting 27.4%. the use of the google classroom application is 13%, the etmodo application is 8% and the use of other applications is 7.3%. Students' perceptions about the affordability of access 52.8% can access learning materials anywhere and anytime, and 47.2% say it is difficult to access learning materials. Student perceptions of online learning as independent learning 53.6% said they were satisfied and 46.4% said they were not satisfied. Student perceptions of online learning communication and equity 57.5% said they were satisfied and 42.5% said they were not satisfied. Factors supporting the implementation of online learning are internet quota assistance from the center, flexibility in accessing material (information), developing applications or learning ethnology. The inhibiting factors are increasing costs, uneven network, no variety of methods, and no 2-way communicationKeywords: Perception, Effectiveness, Online learning

Abstract

This study aims to describe sex education in Islamic perspective, because by knowing sex education, and if it is understood correctly especially by the teenagers, they will be protected from sexual deviations.. The researcher used qualitative research with a library research approach. Data collection techniques are carried out by searching and collecting data from various sources such as books, literature, documents, journals, and from the print media regarding sex education in the perspective of Islamic education. Obtained data are then synthesized which   eventually becomes a conclusion. The data found revealed sex education in Islamic perspective is an  integral part of the education of faith, morals and worship. It is related to how to behave in society in order to prevent the sex abuse. Moreover, sex education problems in Indonesia are still tends to be shallow, and the delivery of sex education is still ineffective, including delivery only at school and the delivery is focused only on explaining reproductive organs. The delivery of sex education must be planned. It starts from the time baby is born, from the curious traits that guide the development of his thinking, and brain intelligence, so that the family as informal education is carried out properly.
