Abstract

Model penugasan keperawatan digambarkan sebagai pendekatan terstruktur untuk mengatur pemberian  asuhan keperawatan kepada pasien guna memudahkan perawat dalam memprioritaskan asuhan keperawatan yang akan diberikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi persepsi perawat dan manajer tentang model penugasan keperawatan di ruang rawat inap rumah sakit Universitas Sumatera Utara. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan yaitu sebanyak 12 partisipan yang diambil melalui teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian diperoleh tiga kategori tematik, yaitu: model penugasan keperawatan yang digunakan di ruang rawat inap, keuntungan dari model penugasan keperawatan yang digunakan, kerugian dari model penugasan keperawatan yang digunakan. Diperlukan penguatan model keperawatan tim di ruang inap rumah sakit Universitas Sumatera Utara.   Kata kunci: persepsi perawat dan manager, model penugasan keperawatan   NURSE PERCEPTION AND MANAGER ABOUT NURSING ASSIGNMENT MODELS   ABSTRACT The nursing assignment model is described as a structured approach to regulating the provision of nursing care to patients to facilitate nurses in prioritizing nursing care to be provided. This study aims to explore the perceptions of nurses and managers about the nursing assignment model in the inpatient ward of the University of North Sumatra. The design of this study is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The number of samples used is as many as 12 participants taken through purposive sampling technique. The results of the study obtained three thematic categories, namely: the nursing assignment model used in the inpatient room, the advantages of the nursing assignment model used, the disadvantages of the nursing assignment model used. Strengthening the nursing model of the team is needed in the hospital in North Sumatra.   Keywords: perceptions of nurses and managers, nursing assignment models

Abstract

Kompetensi kepemimpinan klinis merupakan kemampuan perawat sebagai klinisi yang memiliki waktu 24 jam dalam memberikan asuhan keperawatan kepada pasien yang dapat diobservasi untuk meningkatkan mutu pelayanan keperawatan dan keselamatan pasien. Perawat yang memiliki kepemimpinan klinis yang baik akan tercermin dari perilaku sehari-hari perawat, antara lain mampu bekerja sama yang baik, memiliki hubungan interpersonal yang baik, memiliki inovasi dan kreativitas, dan memiliki visi yang visioner bagi perkembangan karir diri sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran pengetahuan perawat tentang kompetensi kepemimpinan klinis perawat pelaksana di Rumah Sakit Universitas Sumatera Utara. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuanitatif dengan metode uji statistik deskriptif. Metode pengumpulan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yaitu sebanyak 46 orang.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan perawat pada kategori baik sebanyak 9 orang (19.6%), cukup sebanyak 32 orang (69.6%) dan kurang sebanyak 5 orang (10.9%). Harapan yang merupakan saran kepada pihak Rumah Sakit untuk melaksanakan sebuah kegiatan dalam upaya meningkatkan pengetahuan perawat tentang kompetensi kepemimpinan klinis seperti seminar ataupun pelatihan sebagai peningkatan mutu sumber daya perawat yang memiliki pengaruh yang sangat kuat dalam memberikan pelayanan keperawatan kepada pasien. Kata kunci : pengetahuan perawat, kompetensi,kepemimpinan klinis NURSING KNOWLEDGE ABOUT NURSE PRACTITIONER CLINICAL LEADERSHIP COMPETENCY ABSTRACT Clinical leadership competence is the nurse?s ability as the clinician to provide nursing care to the patient for 24 hours that can be observed to improve the quality of nursing services and patient safety. Nurses with good clinical leadership will be reflected in the daily behavior as a nurse, such as having good interpersonal relationships, innovation, and creativity, and having vision on her career. This research is aimed to analyze the nurse?s understanding of implementing the clinical leadership competency in Universitas Sumatera Utara hospital. The research design was a quantitative research study using the method approach of descriptive statistic test. The sampling method was taken by purposive sampling method as many as 46 people. The result of the research indicated that nurse?s understanding with good category as many as 9 people (19.6%), the moderate category was 32 people (69.6%) and less than moderate was 5 people (10.9%).  The suggestion is given to the hospital to carry out an activity as the occasion to increase the nurse?s understanding of clinical leadership competencies such as doing seminars or training to improve the quality of nurse resources that will strongly be affected in providing the nursing services to patients.  Keywords: nurse knowledge, competency, clinical leadership

Abstract

ABSTRACTPatient safety has become a global issue of concern in health care. Various efforts have been made to improve patient safety in the hospital by involving the health team, one of which is a nurse, a health worker who interacts 24 hours with patients. The role of nurses is a major factor in improving patient safety in the hospital. The purpose of this study was to develop a role model for implementing nurses in improving patient safety at Rumah Sakit Umum Deli Medan. This research was a qualitative research with an action research approach involving 15 nurses as participants. Data collection was carried out by means of focus group discussions (FGD), observation, and questionnaires about the role in patient safety. The data obtained were evaluated using content analysis and simple statistics. The results of this study were in the form of a blueprint for the role model of the implementing nurse in improving patient safety, with the outcome of the increasing knowledge of the implementing nurse. The researchers concluded that proper implementation was very important to raise awareness of the importance of preventing incidents of injury to patients. Keywords: Role, Nurse, Patient Safety

Abstract

ABSTRAKLansia Caring Nursing Center merupakan perawatan terpadu dan komprehensif bagi lansia. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa profesi keperawatan dalam memberikan pelayanan keperawatan di Lansia Caring Nursing Center di Fakultas Keperawatan USU. Penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Partisipan adalah mahasiswa profesi keperawatan USU yang telah melalui tahap profesi komunitas dan telah bergabung dalam kegiatan Lansia Caring Nursing Center. Wawancara mendalam kepada 5 mahasiswa profesi keperawatan. Analisis data menggunakan metode Colaizzi. Ditemukan 5 tema persepsi mahasiswa dalam memberikan pelayanan keperawatan di Lansia Caring Nursing Center, yakni: 1) Lansia Caring Nursing Center adalah tempat untuk meningkatkan kesehatan, dan sarana untuk memberikan pendidikan bagi lansia, 2) Kegiatan Lansia Caring Nursing Center bermanfaat bagi lansia, 3) Suasana baru, ragam kegiatan, dan tersedia fasiitas yang berbeda di Lansia Caring Nursing Center, 4) Mahasiswa dapat belajar menjadi penyuluh kesehatan, fasilitator senam kaki dan melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan pada lansia, 5) Mahasiswa menerapkan komunikasi teraupetik kepada lansia secara langsung. Kehadiran Lansia Caring Nursing Center di Fakultas Keperawatan USU dirasakan sangat bermanfaat bagi mahasiswa dalam mengaplikasikan keilmuan dan sebagai lahan penyaluran ide-ide terkait program lansia sehingga membuat para mahasiswa merasa antusias dan senang untuk bergabung.Kata kunci: Persepsi, lansia caring nursing center, mahasiswa profesi keperawatan.  ABSTRACTThe Elderly Caring Nursing Center was an integrated and comprehensive care for the elderly.The Objective to know perception of nursing profession students in providing nursing service at Elderly Caring Nursing Center in Faculty of Nursing USU. Qualitative research with phenomenology approach. Participants were nursing student who have been through the community profession stage and have joined the Elderly Caring Nursing Center's activities. In-depth interview with 5 nursing profession students. Data analysis using Colaizzi method. Five themes of student perception in providing nursing service at Elderly Caring Nursing Center were: 1) Elderly Caring Nursing Center was a place to improve health, and to provide education for the elderly; 2) Activities in Elderly Caring Nursing Center useful for the elderly; 3) New atmosphere, variety of activities,  and different facilities available at Elderly Caring Nursing Center, 4) Students can learn to become health educator, foot gym facilitator and conduct medical examination on elderly, 5) Students applied therapeutic communication directly  to the elderly. The presence of Elderly Caring Nursing Center at Faculty of Nursing USU was felt to be very useful for students and can provide new  ideas related to the elderly program so the students feel enthusiastic and happy to join.Keywords: Perception, elderly caring nursing center, nursing profession students.

Abstract

Customer service merupakan upaya yang dapat dilakukan suatu organisasi untuk memberikan kepuasan bagikonsumen. Istilah customer service lebih dikenal di dunia bisnis, namun aplikasi customer service juga dapatditemukan di dunia kesehatan. Penerapancustomer servicedi rumah sakit dapat meningkatkan kinerja pegawai rumahsakit termasuk perawat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali persepsi perawat tentang aplikasi customer serviceoleh perawat di sebuah rumah sakit swasta di Indonesia. Penelitian ini merupakan satu siklus studi action researchyaitu tahap reconnaissance yang dilakukan di rumah sakit swasta di Medan. Tahap reconnaissance merupakansatu fase yang penting dalam pendekatan action research yang bertujuan untuk menemukan thematic concerndari setting penelitian. Jumlah partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 10 perawat pelaksana. Partisipandirekrut dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data kualitatif dikumpulkanmelalui teknik focus group discussion (FGD). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan pendekatancontent analysis. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan 4 tema persepsi perawat tentang costumer service, yaitu: 1)makna costumer service menurut perawat pelaksana (memberikan pelayanan maksimal, pemenuhan kebutuhanpasien, dan interaksi dan komunikasi efektif,); 2) Upaya perawat dalam mengaplikasikan customer service (sikapprofessional perawat, ketulusan, mengatasi masalah pasien, dan menciptakan caring moment); 3) Hambatandalam menerapkan customer service dalam pelayanan keperawatan (kurangnya pemahaman pasien terhadappenjelasan yang diberikan, permintaan pasien yang berlebihan selama perawatan, kurangnya reward terhadappekerjaan yang telah dilakukan); 4) Upaya meningkatkan aplikasi customer service dalam pelayanan keperawatan(sabar dan tulus dalam menghadapi keluarga pasien, tanggap dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan pasien, peningkatanpendidikan perawat, memberikan reward kepada perawat, dan memfasilitasi hubungan pasien dengan dokter).

Abstract

Patients have a significant role in improving their own safety. Their active involvement in planning, providing health services, monitoring, and evaluating treatment can improve health services. This study aims to develop a model of patients’ role in improving patient safety in the inpatient room at Universitas Sumatera Utara Hospital. It is qualitative research with an action research design. Participants in this study were 15 nurses from 5 inpatient rooms. Data were collected using an online Focus Group Discussion (FGD), using observation form, field notes, and quantitative assessments using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using content analysis and simple statistics. This study produced 4 models of the patients’ role that can be used in inpatient rooms and increase the nurses’ knowledge about the patients’ role in improving patient safety.  This study concludes that the model of patients’ role can be used as a reference in increasing the patients’ role and reducing the occurrence of adverse events when the patients are hospitalized so that patient safety can be achieved.

Abstract

Introduction: Nurse managers in carrying out their duties must have a variety of competencies, one of which is managerial competencies. A model of competency for nurse managers will assist them in shaping their roles as managers in a teaching hospital. This study aims to develop the managerial competency model for nurse managers at the teaching hospital.Methods: The research design used in this study was action research. This research was conducted with 20 nurse managers who work at inpatient wards of the teaching hospital. Participants were selected by purposive sampling approach and have accepted to participate in the research. The data were obtained by using interview through focus groups discussions. The content analysis method was employed for analyzing the data. Results: This study found six domains of managerial competencies of nurse managers: 1) provision of patient care (assignment methods, clinical excellence, collaborators, patient safety, evidence-based practice), 2) resource management (personnel management, information and technology management, equipment management, supplies management), 3) leadership (commitment, conflict resolution, negotiator, role model, professional mentor, initiator, motivator), 4) self and staff development (effective communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, tridharma function of nurses), 5) customer and service orientation (team builder, customer service, quality improvement), and 6) function of preceptorships (basic teaching skills, clinical skills). These 24 fundamental competencies are rooted in caring foundation.Conclusion: Nurse managers in teaching hospitals should possess a set of managerial competencies to perform their optimal roles in order to achieve the unit goals. This model will provide comprehensive and solid ways for nurse managers to improve their performance. Therefore, the set of nurse manager competencies needs to be standardized across the setting.

Abstract

Stroke sufferers continue to increase every year and become polemic in various countries. Stroke is the second most common cause of death after heart disease. Stroke sufferers cause disruption of physical mobility, so they need help to carry out daily activities, one of which is the implementation of oral care, which is still minimal. The study aimed to describe the perception of family caregivers in implementing oral care among stroke patients in Medan city areas. A qualitative with phenomenology approach was applied in this study. The study was conducted in the Health Centre of Medan Deli, in April-August 2018. Twelve participants were recruited using purposive sampling. Data collection used focus group discussion (FGD). We analyzed the data by using the thematic analysis. The results of the study found that four themes, namely: 1) Caregiver knowledge in the implementation of oral care for stroke patients at home is not good, 2) The process of implementing oral care by caregiver for stroke patients at home is less optimal, 3) Family obstacles in carrying out oral care for stroke patients at home, 4) Expectations and suggestions in the implementation of oral care for stroke patients at home. Expected of research to developing or making a guide to the implementation of oral care as health education for families as caregivers in treating stroke patients at home, so that problems of oral care for stroke patients can be minimized. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore nurses' perceptions about clinical supervision in the implementation of patient and family education in Universitas Sumatera Utara. This type of research is a qualitative research with a phenomenological design. The results of this study brought out five main themes, namely (1) the purpose of supervision in the implementation of patient and family education, (2) methods of carrying out supervision, (3) the barriers that had been facing during the implementation supervision, (4) the future expectations related to the implementation of supervision and (5) the benefits of supervision implementation. Conclusions, nurses' perceptions about clinical supervision in the implementation patient and family education are important to do, even though the implementation still not optimum. Abstract

Orang-orang dengan kondisi medis yang sudah ada sebelumnya seperti diabetes tampaknya lebih rentan untuk menjadi sakit parah dengan virus Covid-19. Agar penderita diabetes ini dapat terhindar dari penularan Covid-19, maka diperlukan suatu upaya peningkatan kapasitas mereka agar dapat mengetahui cara pencegahan penularan Covid-19 dan melaksanakan upaya pencegahan tersebut. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan penderita DM untuk mencegah terjadinya penularan Covid-19 di desa Mekar Sari, Kecamatan Deli Tua, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara. Peserta yang menjadi partisipan dalam kegiatan ini terdiri dari anggota masyarakat yang mengalami DM sebanyak 15 orang. Pelaksanaan kegiatan diawali dengan melakukan pre-test tentang pengetahuan awal peserta tentang penyakit dan cara pencegahannya. Setelah itu, diberikan penyuluhan secara langsung dengan menggunakan media leaflet. Selain leaflet, hand sanitizer dan suplemen vitamin C dan D diberikan juga kepada setiap peserta pengabdian kepada masyarakat pada saat penyuluhan. Setelah dilakukan penyuluhan dengan menggunakan contoh yang nyata, pengetahuan peserta meningkat dari rerata skor pengetahuan 5,47 menjadi 9,80. Peningkatan pengetahuan tentang pencegahan penularan Covid-19 meningkat secara signifikan. Hal ini terlihat dari uji statistika Wilcoxon antara nilai post-test dan post-test didapat nilai p=0,001. Tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat dari berharap agar setelah kegiatan ini selesai, anggota masyarakat yang mengalami penyakit diabetes melitus dapat dan secara konsisten menerapkan hal-hal yang telah mereka pahami pada saat penyuluhan kesehatan, sehingga dapat terhindar dari penularan penyakit Covid-19.
