Abstract

Ubi jalar ungu jenis (Ipomoea batatas (L.)) Lamk ubi yang disebabkan oleh adanya pigmen ungu antosianin yang menyebar dari bagian kulit sampai dengan daging ubinya. Antosianin yang dapat berfungsi sebagai antioksidan memiliki aktivitas sebagai antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui apakah ekstrak etanol ubi jalar ungu (Ipomoea batatas (L.)) Lamk dapat dijadikan formulasi dapat dijadikan sebagai sediaan salep dan Untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri sediaan salep ubi jalar ungu (Ipomoea batatas (L.)) Lamk terhadap bakteri Stapylococcus aureus. Metode penelitian ini meliputi: karakterisasi simplisia ubi jalar ungu, pembuatan ekstrak etanol ubi jalar ungu secara maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%, skrining fitokimia, uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak dan sediaan ubi jalar ungu terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dengan metode cakram dan sumuran, formulasi dan uji aktivitas antibakteri sediaan salep terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus berbagai konsentrasi, dan evaluasi sediaan (pemeriksaan organoleptis, homogenitas, penentuan pH, stabilitas fisik, daya sebar, daya lekat dan uji iritasi sediaan). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian skrining fitokomia serbuk ubi jalar ungu yang memiliki senyawa aktif flavonoid, saponin, steroid, glikosida dan ekstrak memiliki senyawa aktif flavonoid, saponin, steroid. Ekstrak ubi jalar ungu (Ipomoea batatas (L.)) Lamk dapat dijdikan formulasi dalam sediaan bentuk salep yang baik dan memenuhi syarat mutu uji evaluasi organoleptis, pH, daya lekat, daya sebar, homogenitas, stabilitas fisik dan iritasi. Sediaan salep ubi jalar ungu memiliki aktivitas sebagai antibakteri Staphylococcus aureus dengan daya hambat (KUJU 20%) diameter 10,9 mm, (KUJU 25%) 15 mm, (KUJU 30%) 15,9 mm memiliki daya hambat paling tinggi

Abstract

This study focuses on the discipline of psycholinguistics regarding language disordersin children, to be precise of Specific Language Impairment (SLI). This article analyzestwo 6-year-old children who show the characteristics of having SLI in languagedisorders during the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to carry out this study, theresearcher used a qualitative descriptive research method. The method aims to describein a systematic, actual, and accurate way. This research is an analytical study of officialdocuments such as books, articles, journals, and the internet. The accuracy of the data isobtained from the observations of the researcher herself. This study reports that childrenwith SLI often stay until school age and can lead to a lack of academic ability and causevarious psychosocial problems. Some of the causes of SLI in children include genetic,environmental, and social factors, pre and perinatal, gender, prematurity, weight, socio-economic status, maternal mental status, mother's education, and vocabulary, and history of speech-language difficulties.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain the notable impact of utilizing the Busuu application on pupils' vocabulary. The Busuu program is an English language learning tool designed to enhance spelling, vocabulary, speaking skills, and word comprehension abilities.This study is conducted using experimental methods. The research samples consisted of an experimental class and a control class. The population for this study consists of eighth-grade students enrolled at SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan during the 2023/2024 academic year. The sampling method employed was purposive sampling. The test is multiple-choice. The research uses a vocabulary exam as its primary tool. The data, comprising 25 items, were analyzed using paired difference tests, specifically the Paired sample t-test, in SPSS version 27. The research findings indicate a disparity between the pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental class, with an average score of 65 and 76.54, respectively. Consequently, utilizing the Busuu program has resulted in a notable augmentation of kids' vocabulary. The analysis results indicate that the utilization of the Busuu application has a statistically significant value of 0.001, which is lower than the commonly accepted threshold of 0.05. This data suggests a substantial impact on the utilization of the Busuu application. Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) is refuted, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is affirmed.

Abstract

The research aimed to find out the effect of Herringbone Technique on students’ reading comprehension at grade eight of SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar. There are also several main theories used to support this research, namely; Brassel and Rasinski (2008), Cahyono et. al. (2011), Deegan (2006), Pang et. al. (2003), Patel and Jain (2008), Richards and Renandya (2002), Sweet and Snow (2003). This research was designed as a quantitative method with quasi-experimental research design. Eight students’of 4 and 5 were selected as the participants. The experimental class was treated using Herringbone Technique while the control class was not treated using Herringbone Technique. The data were obtained through pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The pre-test was held to know the students’ basic ability or score before treatment was given. Meanwhile, the post test was held to know the students’ achievement and significant effect after the students’ were taught using Herringbone Technique. The data shows that the difference or the improvement as the whole students’ got in post test from control to experimental group is 345 or 11,5 point in average. The score of t-test (7,17) is higher than t-table (1,67) at the level of significance 5% for two tailed test, so Alternative Hypothesis is accepted and Null Hypothesis is rejected. Finally, by knowing the result, it is better if English teachers apply Herringbone Technique to improve the students’ achievement on reading comprehension.

Abstract

The objective of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) was to discover the implementation of Cooperative Learning namely Think-Pair comprehension. Thirty-two students of Grade XI-Science 2 of State Senior High School (Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri:   SMAN) 4 Kisaran were taught Reading Comprehension using TPS strategy. The students were divided into sixteen pairs. The researcher was assisted by a   collaborator. The data were obtained through observation, field notes, quiz, and questionnaire. This research was conducted by (1) giving reading comprehension test as preliminary study to find out the students’ achievement in reading comprehension, (2) designing a lesson plan, and (3) implementing the CAR in 3 cycles, each cycle consisted of 2 meetings. In Cycle 1, the result of the students’ mean score was x = 59; in Cycle 2 x= 69,7; and in Cycle 3 improved to x = 79,6. It had met the criteria of success, 75% of the students reached the score 70 or more.

Abstract

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) has now become a main requirement for career advancement or continuing higher level education. Many schools and campuses have a vision to prepare their students from an early age to be ready to enter the world of work by requiring TOEFL as a graduation requirement. This socialization aims to increase knowledge and information about TOEFL for class XII IPA 2 SMAN 4 Pematang Siantar, totaling 31 students. This activity was carried out using a lecture method by the socialization team using power points, a question and answer session, as well as discussions about TOEFL and its benefits. The location of this socialization activity was Jalan Pattimura No. 1, Pahlawan, East Siantar District. Carried out on November 20 2023. In writing this research journal used a qualitative descriptive method in collecting data. The results of this socialization activity can be concluded that students understand the socialization material. This can be seen from the structured delivery of material and the social activity schedule that is prepared so that it can help students focus more on understanding the material. Apart from that, several questions in the question and answer session show that the material can be absorbed by students well.

Abstract

The implementation of the Qur'an Tahsin training is aimed at members of Aisyiyah Pasar 4 Bandar Khalifah who are currently not fluent in reading the Qur'an properly and correctly, even though they are adults. However, it is never too late to learn. This Al-Qur'an tahsin training activity aims to be able to improve understanding in reading the Qur'an and understand the methods in reading the Qur'an properly and correctly. The method provided is in the form of short material and tips for reading with the rules of recitation. Furthermore, significant results have been obtained for Aisyiyah members in understanding and practicing the reading of the Qur'an. This shows that basically, the level of success of this training is achieved if it is learned and practiced as well as directly, so it takes consistency in reading the Qur'an on a daily basis which aims to maintain the rules of recitation and pronunciation so that they are better and of higher quality
