Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out if Prediction Strategy significantly affected students’ achievement in listening comprehension. The design applied in this research was experimental research design. This research was conducted at SMK Teladan Indrapura Batubara. The population of this research was 70 students from the two parallel classes; X TKJ-1 and X TKJ-2. Random sampling technique was employed in taking the sample and 60 students were chosen as the sample. X TKJ-1 was selected as the experimental group and X TKJ-2 was selected as the control group. The experimental group was taught by using Prediction Strategy while the control group was taught by conventional strategy. The instrument used to collect the data was multiple-choice test consisted of 40 items. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. After the data analysis, it was obtained tobserved value was higher than that of ttable (6.13 > 2.00) with the degree of freedom df = 58 at the level of significance α = 0.05. It meant that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. In conclusion, Prediction Strategy significantly affected students’ achievement in listening comprehension.

Abstract

Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk membahas Tri Hita Karana (THK), dan signifikansinya dalam konteks kelas bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing. Penelitian mengenai topik ini sangat penting karena THK semakin dipertimbangkan untuk meningkatkan pendidikan, khususnya di kelas Bahasa Inggris. Data primer diperoleh melalui artikel jurnal. Artikel berasal dari artikel penelitian yang dapat diunduh secara gratis di jurnal ilmiah yang membahas THK dan prinsip-prinsipnya dalam konteks kelas Bahasa Inggris. Google Scholar, Connected Papers dan Publish or Perish (PoP) digunakan dalam mencari artikel jurnal tersebut. Kata kunci artikelnya adalah Tri Hita Karana, nilai, materi pembelajaran, dan EFL, Artikel yang diakses adalah artikel yang diterbitkan tahun 2019 sampai 2023. Istilah karakter, kearifan local. dan THK didefinisikan, membahas nilai-nilai pendidikannya dalam lingkungan pendidikan, meninjau penelitian sebelumnya tentang nilai-nilai pendidikan THK, dan menawarkan saran untuk meningkatkan integrasi berbagai disiplin ilmu THK dalam lingkungan pendidikan, khususnya untuk bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa Asing (EFL). Berdasarkan studi literatur, THK merupakan indikator penting dalam dunia pendidikan khususnya dalam kelas bahasa Inggris untuk menumbuhkan nilai-nilai karakter, menimgkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa, dan meningkatkan motivasi siswa. Hal tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai THK dengan pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis THK dan memasukkannya ke dalam pengajaran di kelas. .

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the improvement of English vocabulary mastery among eighth-grade students at Budi Utomo junior high school using the Duolingo application. The research involved 41 students and used descriptive and statistical techniques to analyze data. Qualitative data was collected from interviews, observations, and documentation, while quantitative data was gathered from students' test results, both orientation and post-test. The results showed that students were enthusiastic and active in the learning process, feeling happy and discussing with each other. They easily mastered vocabulary, which influenced their test results. The statistical analysis showed an increase in students' scores from the orientation test to post-test, with a mean score of 48. The number of students achieving the KKM score also increased. In the orientation test, only 4.9% of students achieved the KKM score, but in the post-test cycle I, 87.8% of students achieved it, and in the post-test cycle II, 100% of students achieved or exceeded the KKM score. In conclusion, the Duolingo application significantly assisted students in improving their English vocabulary mastery in a fun and satisfying manner.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out whether the use of quizizz gave significant effect or not on students’ reading comprehension. The research was designed as a quasi-experimental with quantitative approach. The population of this research was the tenth-grade students of SMK SWASTA PAB 1 Helvetia. The sample was two parallel class namely X-Tbsm 1 which consisted of 30 students as the control class and X-Tbsm 2 which consisted of 30 students as the experimental class. Both classes were given pre-test and post-test. The experimental class was given treatment using Quizizz. Data analysis employed SPSS 29. Pre-test results for the experimental group were 62.67, whereas those for the control group were 60.00. while the experimental class's post-test score was 80.00 and the control classes was 70.33. Calculating the T-test revealed a significant difference. The analysis finding revealed that the sig (2-tailed) value was 0.01< 0.05, indicating that H0 was rejected and Ha was approved. As a result, it was possible to draw the conclusion that Quizizz gave a significant effect on students’ reading comprehension, particularly the descriptive text. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan efektivitas penggunaan video instruksi memasak terhadap prestasi siswa dalam menulis teks prosedur bagi siswa di Madrasah Aliyah Swasta 12 Perbaungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik purposive sampling. Jumlah sampel adalah 70 siswa yang diambil dari kelas XII Agama 1 (kelas eksperimen) dan XII IPS 1 (kelas kontrol). Pre-test dan post-test yang sama diberikan kepada kedua kelas. Pada pre-test, nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol adalah 61,94 sedangkan kelas eksperimen adalah 69,80. Setelah melakukan perlakuan dan post-test, hasil rata-rata kelas kontrol adalah 70,20 sedangkan kelas eksperimen adalah 84,68. Ini menunjukkan bahwa kelas eksperimen memperoleh nilai lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol dalam post-test. Analisis statistik juga menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh di kelas kontrol adalah 8,25 dan di kelas eksperimen adalah 14,88. Data yang diperoleh dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dianalisis menggunakan rumus t-test. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa pada tingkat signifikansi 5%, hasil t-test dibandingkan dengan t-tabel membuktikan bahwa t-hitung lebih tinggi daripada t-tabel (3,26 > 1,701). Berdasarkan kriteria uji, hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara prestasi siswa dengan perlakuan video dan tanpa perlakuan video dalam menulis teks prosedur. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa video instruksi memasak efektif digunakan sebagai media dalam pengajaran menulis teks prosedur kepada siswa kelas XII di Madrasah Al-Washliyah 12 Perbaungan.

Abstract

One of the most effective strategies in facing the challenges of this digital age is to integrate technology into Project-based Learning (PjBL) in English classrooms. Teacher innovation and creativity are expected to improve students' competence in English, especially in writing This study aims to analyze the effect of a project-based learning model integrated Padlet and motivation on students' writing skills. This research method is post-test-only experimental research with a 2x2 factorial design.  The population is grade VIII students at junior high school. Samples of 2 classes were selected using cluster random sampling and divided into two groups; that is, the experimental group and the control group. The instruments used were motivation questionnaires and writing tests. Data were analyzed with a two-way ANOVA and Tuckey test. The results proved that, first, there was a significant difference in the students’ writing competence between the students who were taught with PjBL-integrated Padlet and students who were taught conventionally. Second, there was a significant interactional effect on students' writing competence between the learning model applied and student motivation. Third, there was a significant difference in the students’ writing competence between the students who had high motivation when they were taught with PjBL-integrated Padlet and the conventional model. Fourth, there was a significant difference in the students’ writing competence between the students who had low motivation when they were taught with PjBL-integrated Padlet and the conventional model.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada guru–guru tentang penggunaan aplikasi Renderforest berbasis pembelajaran blended learning pada SMK Karya Setia Pegajahan Medan. Kegiatan ini bermula dari permasalahan yang dimiliki mitra terkait dengan minimnya pengetahuan guru-guru tentang penggunaan aplikasi pembelajaran berbasis media online. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah berupa pelatihan secara intens kepada guru–guru dimana didalam sesi pelatihan juga dilakukan penerapan hasil pelatihan. Guru-guru diminta membuat video pembelajaran dengan menggunakan aplikasi Renderforest. Hasil dari kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat. Guru-guru sangat antusias sekali dalam menyerap dan menerapkan aplikasi Renderforest berbasis pembelajaran blended learning ini. Mereka mampu memberikan pembelajaran yang lebih bervariasi kepada siswa dan siswi mereka.
