Abstract

Tulisan mahasiswa dalam teks berbahasa Inggris masih sering ditemukan kesalahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk megetahui kesalahan bahasa Inggris yang terdapat pada karangan deskripsi mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Semester 4, Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia Tahun Akademik 2021/2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif dengan model pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data pada penelitian ini diambil dari 28 teks deskripsi bahasa Inggris mahasiwa. Data penelitian ini adalah kalimat-kalimat yang mengandung kesalahan tatabahasa yang kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan tiga kesalahan berbahasa yaitu 1) kesalahan Subject Verb agreement, 2) kesalahan tanda baca dan huruf kapital, dan 3) kesalahan keberterimaan.. Berdasarkan wawancara, faktor penyebab kesalahan pada karangan deskripsi responden yaitu pengetahuan tata bahasa Inggris yang terbatas.Kata Kunci: Kesalahan; Gramatikal; Deskripsi, teks Bahasa Inggris

Abstract

The perspective of systemic functional linguistics (SFL), the social context is constituted by three elements of ideology, culture and situation which are stacked up or stratified above language. The purpose of this study was to describe what is the varieties of language level that is used in the Headline News. The result found that The style of the language used in thatnewspaper is found obviously through its headlines. A headline’s main purpose is to quicklyand briefly draw attention to the news report under it. According to the restrictions to usecomplete sentences to save time and space as much as they can, the reporters inventedincomplete but striking sentences or phrases which make the headlines more dramatic. Theuse of puns, alliterations, distinctive grammar and the choice of emotive vocabularyaltogether make the headlines more memorable and effective.Keywords: Language Variety; Headine; Newspaper

Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the types of text are found in brochure hotel in Indonesia and to know the more dominant text are found in brochure hotel in Indonesia. The methodology adopted in this research was descriptive qualitative methods. The source of the data was taken from the texts of brochures hotel in Indonesia. This brochures are found in the famous hotel, like JW Marriot (in Medan, Jakarta), Trans Luxury (in Bandung), Hotel Inn (in Jogja) The Kuta Beach Heritage (in Bali) which using brochure to introduce the hotel. The result of the study shows that brochures hotel in Indonesia contains 13 types which include 1 types of text; Hortatory Exposition. Keywords: Genre, Brochure, Hotel.
