Abstract

This study was aimed to describe the relationship of drug uses rasionality, disease severity and pattern of drug uses on Malaria at Dr. M. Yunus Bengkulu Hospital. This was in observasional study with cross-sectional using datas of medical record. The result showed 101 of patient datas filled up eligibility criteria as inclusion and exclusion, 23 of them changed diagnosis and 78 datas did not changed diagnosis. Demographic and clinical characteristic test, evaluation of rationality used Gyssen and Drug Related Problem (DRP) and relations between variable used Chi-square and Independent T-Test gave 95% of confidence interval. Relation of socio-demographic characteristic in group of age was 4.314 times impacted than gender and education on changing diagnosis. where moderate severity has longer duration of treatment than mild severity, while in cost of treatment was not significantly (p>0.05). In pattern of drug, single and combination was not significantly (p>0.05) on duration of treatment , in statistically, single drug uses was more effective but should be researched about relapse incidence on malaria patient which use single drug. Rationality of drug relations against duration of treatment was significantly (p<0.05), rational drug has shorter duration than irrational drug of treatment, so more effective and efficient. This study also showed DRP with improper drug selection was 34.26%.

Abstract

Telang flower plant (Clitoria ternatea) is a leguminous plant belonging to the Fabaceae family, containing bioactive compounds that are useful for treatment. Its ability as a biologically active compound gives a great role to human interests. Phenolic compounds have a positive correlation with antioxidant activity, so that polyphenols are probably the compounds that have the most potential to contribute anti-radical activity in telang flower. Telang flower extract has many properties so it is used as a traditional medicine for several diseases. A number of studies have shown that flavonoids have antiviral, anti-allergic, antiplatelet, antidiabetic, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, and antioxidant activities. The phytochemical content of telang flower which is efficacious as antidiabetic / antihyperglycemic is saponins and flavonoids. Based on this, a preliminary study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of ethanol extract of telang flower (Clitoria ternatea) against antihyperglycemic in male rabbits. This type of research is a laboratory experiment. Telang flower powder simplicia (Clitoria ternatea) was extracted using the maceration method. Telang flower (Clitoria ternatea) ethanol extract was made in 3 concentrations, namely 2%, 3% and 4%. Antohyperglycemic effectiveness test used 3 groups, namely negative control (without treatment), positive control (Glibenclamide), ethanol extract of telang flower (Clitoria ternatea) 2%, 3% and 4%, against 4 white rabbits weighing 3-3.5 kg and given sucrose, carried out until the 8th day. The data were statistically processed using One Way ANOVA (Analysis Of Variant). In conclusion, giving ethanol extract of telang flower (Clitoria ternatea) with concentrations of 2%, 3%, and 4% at 60 minutes gave an effective and significant reduction in blood glucose levels compared to negative control and positive control.

Tradisional medicine is a part of Indonesian medicine cukture. As ginger is known to affect blood lipid profile, especially red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) with a higher volatile oil content than other types of ginger. Meanwhile, dyslipidemia is a state of abnormal blood lipid profile levels. This research was conducted at RSUD dr. M. Yunus Bengkulu in 2014. Subjects were dyslipidemia with diabetes mellitus type 2 patients in age range 30-60 years. The total subjects in this study were 10 patients with simple random sampling grouping method. Then thay were devided into control group and treatment group. Neither group received standard drug therapy. The dried red ginger powder was only given to the treatment group at a dose of 3 grams per day for one month.. Both groups examined the LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein), trigliseride and HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) levels before and after the study. Changes to LDL, trigliseride and HDL levels were tested by independent sample test with a significance value of p 0.05. From the research that has been done is known that the dried red ginger powder not significantly affect LDL, trigliserida and HDL (p LDL=0,261; p Trigliserida=0,966; p HDL= 0,175). Based on the statistical analysis, it is known that the dried red ginger powder not significantly affect LDL, trigliserida and HDL. Descriptive analysis showed a decrease in triglyceride levels. Deskriptive analysis shows that the dried red ginger powder can inhibit the incerase to LDL, can reduce triglyceride and inhibit the decrease to HDL.

Abstract

Introduction: Durian (Durio zibenthinus Murr) is one of the genetic resources (SDGs) of the local plant of Bengkulu Province which has quite high economic value. The durian plant is a tropical plant in Southeast Asia. Methods: This study used laboratory tests to determine the secondary metabolites present in the rind of Durian (Durio zibenthinus Murr) during the phytochemical screening process using ethyl acetate solvent. Result and Discussion: Alkaloid compounds are characterized by changes in color in the sample after being dripped with Dragendroff, Mayer and Wagner reagents. In addition, the ethyl acetate extract of Durian peel (Durio zibenthinus Murr) also contains triterpenoid compounds, flavonoids and tannins which can be used in herbal medicine. However, it does not contain steroid compounds, saponins because at the time of the study there was no color change such as the color of the greenish-blue ring for steroids but rather a bluish-green color which can be seen to contain steroid compounds. Conclusion: from this study, the components contained in Durian peel (Durio zibenthinus Murr) were extracted with ethyl acetate solvent, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids and tannins.
