Abstract

Used cooking oil is cooking oil that has been heated repeatedly, so that it can cause the formation of free radical compounds. Free radicals are toxic kidneys that generate cell injury via lipid peroxidation, DNA damage, and protein peroxidation. Black tea (Camellia sinensis) infusion has a strong polyphenol group, namely epigallocatechin gallate, thearubigin, theaflavin, the amino acid                L-theanine, flavonols, and catechins that can inhibit free radicals and protect organs from oxidative stress. This study was a post-only control group design experiment. The research subjects used were 24 Sprague Dawley male rats which were divided into six groups. The first group was the control group (K0). Treatment group 1 was given distilled water and used cooking oil after 12 times heating (K1), treatment group 2 was given black tea at a dose of 2.5g/ kg bw (body weight) and distilled water (K2), and treatment group 3 was given black tea at a dose of 3.75 g/kg bw and distilled water (K3). Treatment group 4 was given used cooking oil after 12 times heating and black tea with a dose of 0.50 gr/200 gr bw (K4), treatment group 5 was given used cooking oil after 12 times heating and black tea with a dose of 3.75 g/kg bw (K5). All groups were treated for 42 days. Then, the rats' kidney was collected, and data were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis and One Way ANOVA test. The results of the Kruskal Wallis and One Way ANOVA test showed a decrease in glomerular and tubular damage after the rats orally induced with black tea were given 12x heating used cooking oil (p<0.05). The mean histopathological score in the administration of black tea at a dose of 3.75 g/kg bw was lower than at a dose of 2.5 g/kg bw. This study shows that infusion of black tea (Camellia sinensis) can prevent glomerular and tubular damage induced by used cooking oil.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Udara yang terkontaminasi mikroorganisme khususnya bakteri dapat menyebabkan Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) baik lewat pajanan langsung maupun tidak langsung.Lamanya pajanan terhadap udara yang tercemar berhubungan dengan kasus mortalitas pasien dengan penyakit jantung dan pembuluh darah yang di rawat di ruang Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU). Udara yang tercemar menjadi salah satu faktor risiko penyebab penyakit kardiovaskular yang dapat dimodifikasi.Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara mengambil sampel dari udara ruang ICCU dengan cara meletakkan lima media cawan petri berisi nutrient agarpada  ke empat sudut ruang dan satu posisi di tengah. Sampel kemudian diinkubasi selama 48 jam dan dilakukan penghitungan angka bakteri. Bakteri kemudian dimurnikan, hasil pemurniandilakukan uji pewarnaan gram, uji motilitas, dan uji biokimia untuk mendapatkan pola bakteri.Hasil: Hasil perletakan cawan petri pada total ke-5 titik sampel adalah 123,6 x 103CFU/m3.  Total bakteri pada setiap titik adalah sebanyak 36,44 x 103 CFU/m3, 18,21 x 103 CFU/m3, 13 x 103 CFU/m3, 18,21 x 103 CFU/m3, 37,74 x 103 CFU/m3secara berurutan. Hasil pola bakteri didominasi oleh bakteri dari golongan kokus Gram positif yaitu jenis Acinetobacter (a) sebesar 22%, diikuti bakteri jenis Bacillus (a) 18%, Kurthia 14%,Pseudomonas8%, serta Clostridium, Bacteroides, dan Campylobacter sebanyak 6%, diikuti Arcobacter dan Staphylococcus 4%, kemudian  Acinetobacter (b), Enterobacteria, Enterococcus, Haemophillus, Streptobacillus dan Streptococcus sebanyak 2%.Kesimpulan:Berdasarkan acuan nilai normal jumlah bakteri yaitu 200 CFU/m3, bakteri yang ditemukan pada udara di ruang ICCU melebihi batas normal, sedangkan untuk pola bakteri didominasi oleh bakteri genus Acinetobacter(a)Kata Kunci : Healthcare Asociated Infections (HAIs), Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU), angka bakteri, pola bakteri.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKanker payudara adalah salah satu kanker yang banyak ditemukan di dunia. Makrofag yang dijumpai pada kanker dikenal dengan istilah Tumor Asociated Macrophage (TAM) yang meliputi fenotip makrofag M1 dan M2. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of administration of Etlingera hemispharica leaf extract on white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by mercury chloride as seen from the histopathological description of the testes. The research method used is experimental post-test-only control group design. The extract was administered for seven days by gavage. Testicular organ harvesting was carried out on the 9th day after the rats were euthanized and continued with making testicular preparations. Testicular damage was assessed using the Johnsen score. Data were analyzed using non-parametric statistical tests. The results showed that the test groups had a p-value of 0.000. The histopathological description of the testes induced by HgCl2 had a p-value of 0.005 and the administration of E. hemisphaerica leaf extract in HgCl2-induced mice showed a p-value of 0.008. In conclusion, administration of E. hemisphaerica leaf extract to R. norvegicus induced by mercury chloride improved spermatogenesis on the histopathological features of the R. norvegicus testes. Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of giving black cumin extract to changes in the histopathological picture of the liver of white rats induced by isoniazid. The method used is experimental with posttest only control group design pattern. The research subjects used 25 Rattus norvegicus, which were divided into negative control group (P1), positive control (P2) isoniazid orally with a dose of 5.4 - 6.75 mg/day for six weeks, treatment 1 (P3), treatment 2 (P4 ), and treatment 3 (P5) which was given isoniazid at a dose of 5.4 - 6.75 mg/day orally and followed by oral black cumin with stratified amounts of 2000, 2500 and 3000 mg/kgBW. The results showed that there was a significant increase in liver cell damage after administration of isoniazid (p < 0.05) and liver cell recovery after administration of black cumin extract for 42 days (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the administration of black cumin extract can restore isoniazid-induced liver cell damage. Keywords: Liver Histopathology, Isoniazid, Black Cumin

Abstract

Extraction of a plant in traditional medicine is a very crucial stage for the success of the treatment. For example, nangka kuning (Vincetoxicum villosum (Blume) Kuntze) which has been scientifically researched, its leaves are extracted with ethanol solvent using the maceration method. Meanwhile, by local people,nangka kuning leaves are processed by boiling using water. This attracted the attention of researchers to re-analyze the content of secondary metabolites in nangka kuning leaf extract made with different solvents and methods. Researchers carried out the extraction using water with heating (infusion), ethanol without heating (maceration) and chloroform without heating (maceration). The results obtained from the three types of extracts contained secondary metabolites of alkaloids in the three extracts. While steroids are only found in extracts with a water solvent. Then the tannins are found in the extract with water and ethanol as solvents. Negative results from the three extracts were shown for secondary metabolites of flavonoids and saponins. So it can be concluded that nangka kuning leaf extract which has the most optimal secondary metabolite is the extract using water as a solvent by heating.

Abstract

Tradisional medicine is a part of Indonesian medicine cukture. As ginger is known to affect blood lipid profile, especially red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) with a higher volatile oil content than other types of ginger. Meanwhile, dyslipidemia is a state of abnormal blood lipid profile levels. This research was conducted at RSUD dr. M. Yunus Bengkulu in 2014. Subjects were dyslipidemia with diabetes mellitus type 2 patients in age range 30-60 years. The total subjects in this study were 10 patients with simple random sampling grouping method. Then thay were devided into control group and treatment group. Neither group received standard drug therapy. The dried red ginger powder was only given to the treatment group at a dose of 3 grams per day for one month.. Both groups examined the LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein), trigliseride and HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) levels before and after the study. Changes to LDL, trigliseride and HDL levels were tested by independent sample test with a significance value of p 0.05. From the research that has been done is known that the dried red ginger powder not significantly affect LDL, trigliserida and HDL (p LDL=0,261; p Trigliserida=0,966; p HDL= 0,175). Based on the statistical analysis, it is known that the dried red ginger powder not significantly affect LDL, trigliserida and HDL. Descriptive analysis showed a decrease in triglyceride levels. Deskriptive analysis shows that the dried red ginger powder can inhibit the incerase to LDL, can reduce triglyceride and inhibit the decrease to HDL.

Abstract

Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan masalah kesehatan yang serius. Pengendalian vektor adalah strategi untuk mengurangi insiden infeksi dan mencegah terjadinya wabah. Penularan DBD dapat terjadi di lingkungan sekolah, karena aktivitas menggigit nyamuk vektor DBD adalah siang hari. Data Dinas Kesehatan Kota Bengkulu Tahun 2017 menunjukkan DBD Kecamatan Muara Bangkahulu Kota Bengkulu yang merupakan daerah endemis DBD dan lingkungan kampus Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB) yang memiliki angka kesakitan yang tinggi yaitu 143 kasus per 100.000 penduduk dan memiliki angka Case Fatality Rate (CFR) atau yang meninggal sebesar 15,7% terutama penderita adalah usia sekolah. Sosialisasi ini menerapkan berbagai metode belajar, yaitu kuliah interaktif dan praktik survey entomologi. Penyuluhan diikuti oleh 24 orang guru dari 13 sekolah di sekitar lingkungan UNIB dengan latar belakang pendidikan terakhir terbanyak Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) yaitu 87,5%. Hasil dari kegiatan ini guru dapat menjadi duta di sekolah untuk program pengendalian vektor penyakit DBD untuk mengurangi angka kejadian infeksi dan tingkat keparahan DBD. Kontrol vektor tetap menjadi satu-satunya intervensi yang tersedia untuk mencegah dan mengontrol penularan DBD.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) didefinisikan sebagai penyakit yang disebabkan oleh coronavirus. Saat ini upaya pencegahan penyakit virus corona menempati skala prioritas utama dalam pelayanan kesehatan, dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan penyakit ini cukup besar. Mengingat insidensi penyakit ini terus meningkat dan bahaya komplikasi sering terjadi, maka perlu dilakukan edukasi dan sosialisasi tentang penyakit virus corona di antaranya social distancing dan penggunaan masker sebagai bentuk upaya pencegahan. Tujuan Penelitian : Pada kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penyakit corona virus, mengedukasi masyarakat khususnya tenaga kerja di usaha makanan rumahan ENDE pentingnya social distancing dan penggunaan masker yang tepat, dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan tenaga kerja di usaha makanan rumahan ENDE kota Bengkulu dengan pemberian sembako.Metode : Memberikan penyuluhan kepada tenaga kerja di usaha makanan khas Bengkulu ENDE tentang edukasi social distancing dan penggunaan masker yang tepat. Untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pemahaman tentang Corona Virus Diseases maka diberikan  pertanyaan yang berkaitan dengan materi yang telah diberikan sebelum dan sesudah penyuluhan pada tenaga kerja di usaha makanan khas Bengkulu kota Bengkulu.Hasil : Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dari hasil pretest dan posttest peserta penyuluhan. Pada hasil pretest masih banyak peserta yang kurang bahkan tidak mengetahui tentang penyakit corona, penggunaan masker yang tepat dan pengetahuan tentang social distancing tetapi setelah dilaksanakan penyuluhan hasil posttest peserta jauh lebih baik di bandingkan sebelumnya. Peserta sudah mengetahui tentang penyakit corona, penggunaan masker yang tepat dan sudah mengetahui tentang social distancing.Kesimpulan : Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di UKM Ende Kuala lempuing Bengkulu dapat berjalan dengan baik dan lancar. Peserta sangat aktif, antusias, dan dapat bekerjasama dengan baik. Diharapkan dengan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini masyarakat memiliki pengetahuan yang baik mengenai penyakit corona, penggunaan masker yang tepat dan pengetahuan social distancing.
