Abstract

Pengabdian ini mengusung tema parenting untuk memperdalam pengetahuan tentang pola asuh orang tua ramah anak. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama tiga hari mulai tanggal 27-29 September 2022 bertempat di Balai Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan Provinsi (BPMP), Kabupaten Majene dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 75 orang yang terdiri dari 60 orang tua dan 15 guru dari 5 (lima) Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Banggae Timur, Kabupaten Majene, Provinsi Sulawesi Barat yakni SDN 12 Pangale, SD Inpres 44 Buttu, SDN 59 Limboro Timur, SDN 9 Tande, dan SDN 29 Inpres Purrau. Jumlah peserta dibagi menjadi tiga yaitu sebanyak 25 orang setiap harinya (20 orang tua dan 5 guru). Pada tahap pelatihan, materi yang diberikan kepada orangtua dan guru sebagai peserta yakni bagaimana menjadi orangtua yang adaptif, tahapan perkembangan anak, ragam kecerdasan dan kepribadian anak, dan strategi berkomunikasi dengan anak. Kegiatan ini membuat para peserta begitu antusias mulai dari pembukaan hingga refleksi dan penutup. Kegiatan ini akan membantu para orangtua baik di rumah maupun di sekolah untuk menerapkan pola asuh yang tepat dalam rangka memperbaiki proses tumbuh kembang anak hingga dewasa.

Abstract

Sharing session merupakan kegiatan berbagi informasi, bertukar pikiran, dan pendapat mengenai topik tertentu. Pengabdian ini berisi tentang kegiatan sharing session scholarship opportunities and challenge yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi mahasiswa agar lebih antusias untuk melanjutkan studi dengan beasiswa baik itu melanjutkan studi magister dengan beasiswa Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) atau melanjutkan ke Program Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) melalui beasiswa PPG. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada Selasa, 04 Juni 2024 pukul 09:00 - 11.00 melalui Zoom Meeting yang dihadiri oleh mahasiswa Pendidikan bahasa inggris angkatan 2021 sebanyak 76 orang. Pada tahap sharing session, materi yang diberikan yakni Tips dan Trik untuk menjadi Awardee LPDP dan Awardee PPG. Berdasarkan, hasil observasi selama kegiatan berlangsung, kegiatan ini membuat mahasiswa begitu antusias mulai dari pembukaan hingga penutup. Pengabdian ini membuat mahasiswa tergugah untuk menambah pengalaman, termotivasi untuk mengembangkan soft skill, termotivasi untuk terus meng-upgrade diri untuk bisa mendapatkan beasiswa dan melanjutkan pendidikan, termotivasi untuk terus meningkatkan kemampuan dan kualitas diri melalui beasiswa, agar menjadi lebih kompeten dan berkontribusi pada masyarakat, tergugah untuk memperbaiki kebiasaan mereka yakni akan lebih giat belajar dan berusaha untuk meningkatkan kualitas skills dan aktif di berbagai kegiatan, dan termotivasi untuk menyiapkan segala hal sebelum mendaftar beasiswa

Abstract

Independent learning and independent campus (Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka or MBKM) is a policy of Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud) which established in early 2020. This program creates challenges for education in Indonesia as teachers and lecturers are required to use technology as a media in teaching. The present study aims to investigate the students’ view toward an application of technology in learning English of management students. The participants of this study were freshman university students majoring in Management, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Sulawesi Barat. A survey questionnaire related the students’ view towards the application of technology in learning English was assigned to the students. Furthermore, an interview was conducted to get depth information. The results of this study showed that the students viewed that using technology in learning English is necessary as it motivated the students in learning English.

Abstract

This article presents a corpus-based study that investigated grammatical collocations. The study aimed to examine and analyze grammatical collocations employed by Asian EFL learners at Khon Kaen University in Thailand. An Asian learner corpus was built with 38,338 tokens from 20 academic writing papers of Asian EFL learners. The written learner corpus consists of Thai, The Chinese, Indonesian, and The Philippines of academic papers. CLAWS tagger, AntConc (Windows 3.4.4), and manual analysis were used to analyze the data. The results of the study found that grammatical collocations employed by Asian EFL learners at Khon Kaen University were 1,941 tokens of noun + preposition, 467 tokens of verb + preposition, 147 tokens of adjective + preposition, and none of preposition + noun was used in the papers. The study also revealed that the learners used similar prepositions in the top 10 frequency, but the arrangement order was different. In addition, there were a few of the same collocated words that used by the learners from each country.

Abstract

The present study aimed to delve into the students’ EFL vocabulary and response to the discovery learning strategy. A pre-experimental research design was applied in this study. The population of this study was first-year Sulawesi Barat University students who enrolled in vocabulary courses in the first semester, and the researchers used a random sampling technique to choose 42 students. This study found that the discovery learning strategy elevated the students’ English vocabulary. It was found that there are critical contrasts between the mean scores of the pre-test and post-test. The students’ pre-test score was 63.42, and the understudies' post-test score was 89.09, which is higher than the pre-test score. It demonstrated a critical improvement in students' accomplishment after carrying out revelation learning in instructing English vocabulary. Another result revealed that the students provided positive responses toward applying the discovery learning strategy in learning vocabulary, stated 53% of students agreed and 33% strongly agreed with the strategy, however 10% neutral, 3% disagreed and 1% strongly disagreed. Based on positive responses, the most of the students perceived that the discovery learning strategy benefits them in learning English.
