Abstract

Teacher performance is the level of success of a person or group in carrying out their duties and responsibilitiesas well as the ability to achieve goals and standars that have been set. This study aimed to analyze theperformance of teacher to their learning in subject biology in Madrasah Aliyah Kepenuhan. This research is adescriptive study. Population weres a biology teacher and all in class XI and XII Madrasah Aliyah KepenuhanRegency Rokan Hulu. Result showed the performance of the teachers were very good creteria with percentageof 74.39% and motivation of students get adequate criteria with percentage of 68.03%. This study showed theperformance of teachers was limited to students’ motivation. Because the teacher’s performance researchinstrument (IPKG 1) biology teacher did not use learning media.

Abstract

This research aims to develop science process skills and problem-solving abilities based on outdoor learning in junior high school. This study uses a mixed method design embedded experimental models. Data was performed in the qualitative and quantitative analysis. Qualitative data analysis is used to determine the science process skills while quantitative data analysis is used to determine the increasing problem-solving ability by using normalized gain (N gain) formula. The results show that the science process skills developed at every phase comprise of making observations, formulating hypotheses, experiment, create data, classify and analyze the data, formulating its conclusions, communicate, and apply the concepts and make predictions obtained by the average value of 75.33 in the good category. While the problem-solving ability of students based on outdoor learning also increased by 0.58 in the medium category. The conclusions of this research show that the application of outdoor learning can be teacher use as an alternative to learning, so it is quite effective in developing science process skills and problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Determination of iron nutrient content in a mixture of soil and compost with spectrophotometric method has been carried out. Metal ions Fe(II) complexed with 0.1% ortho-fenantrolin 2 mL, 0.01 M citric acid as reducing  agent  using acetat buffer at pH 4.5 and its complex was measured by using spectrophotometer UV/Vis at wavelength 515 nm, the complex stability for was 60 minutes . The highest nutrient of iron with content in soil:compost with ratio of 0.8:0.2 was 0.92% at incubation time 30 days. The lowest iron content in the mixture of soil:compost (1:0) at incubation time for  15 days was 0.58% that obtained by the regression equation y = 95.85x + 0.025 with R2=0.992. The level of nutrient iron in compost obtained lower than the maximum regulated by SNI 2.00%.

Vol 7 No 2ABSTRACTDetermination of essential metals (Fe, Zn and Cu) in red betel leaf has been carried out by usingAtomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Fresh and dry red betel leaf extracted in 75 mLby boiled and brewed distilled water for 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes. In the fresh red betel leafmetal content (Fe, Zn and Cu) were 0,3257 %, 0,173 % and 0,0278 % and the highest metalcontent (Fe, Zn and Cu) found in dry red betel leaf which were boiled for 20 minutes with theconcentration 0,0539 %, 0,0305 % and 0,0128 %. Red betel leaf is a source of essential metalsneeded by the body. Keywords: Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS), Red betel leaf (Piper crocatum),decoction water, steeping water, Fe, Zn and Cu

Abstract

This study intended to prove whether process image-based worksheets of geometrical optics could enhance students’ higher-order thinking (HOTS) and self-regulated learning (SRL). This was quasi-experimental research of non-equivalent control group design. This research was conducted to grade 8 junior high school students at a junior high school in Jember district studying the geometrical optic. The sample was 70 students; 35 students belonged to an experimental group and the other 35 students in a control group. The HOTS data were obtained from test results and the SRL data were collected from questionnaire results. To determine the effect of using the worksheets on the students’ HOTS and SRL, carried out was an independent t-test at a significance level of (2-tailed) α = 0.05. The results showed that the worksheets had a significant effect on the HOTS seen from α <0.05 and that the tcount>ttable at df = 68. In addition, the worksheets also owned a significant effect on the students’ SRL seen from α<0,05 and that the tcount = 14,692 (>ttable). Thus, it concluded that the learning with the worksheets had a significant influence on the junior high school students’ HOTS and SRL which are required for preparing their life in the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of PBL learning models on student learning outcomes in light material. This type of research is an experimental study with a post-test only control group design. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Ambulu. The study population was all class VIII SMPN 1 Ambulu, sampling using a homogeneity test. Student learning outcomes data were collected using post-test questions and analyzed using the Independent Sampe T-test with a significance level of 5%. The results of data analysis on the Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test showed that the two study samples were normally distributed, so that the parametric statistical test was then the Independent Sample T-test. The results of the analysis with the Independent Sample T-test show that there is a significant influence on the PBL learning model on student learning outcomes in light material.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the PhET application which is equipped with worksheets about motion and force for science learning in junior high schools. This type of research is descriptive which is conducted on 8th grade junior high school students in one of junior high school in Lumajang Regency. The effectiveness of learning is shown from learning activities and increasing students’achievement. Data were collected by observation and test techniques. Learning activity data were analyzed descriptively using percentages and increasing students’ achievement were analyzed with normalized gain (Ng). One group pre-test and post-plan design are used in the data collection process. The results showed that the average student learning activity for four activity indicators (visual, mental, motor, and emotional) was 79,94% included in the good category and the average increase in learning outcomes was 0.67 (medium category). The conclusion of this study is the learning of science of motion and force in junior high school by using the PhET application is quite effective in improving student learning outcomes and the average student learning activity become good.
