Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan tujuan memaparkan (1) wujud kesantunan tuturan dalam pilihan kode bahasa siswa perempuan, (2) wujud kesantunan tuturan dalam pilihan kode bahasa siswa laki-laki, (3) strategi kesantunan tuturan dalam pilihan kode bahasa siswa perempuan, dan (4) strategi kesantunan tuturan dalam pilihan kode bahasa siswa laki-laki di SMAN 1 Ubud. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMAN 1 Ubud. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah metode observasi dan wawancara. Observasi digunakan untuk menjaring data wujud dan strategi kesantunan siswa. Wawancara digunakan untuk memperoleh data konteks tuturan siswa. Cara menganalisis data dilakukan dengan beberapa langkah, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 37 data tuturan siswa perempuan presentase kesantunan tuturannya sebesar 75,7% dan 25,3% tuturannya tidak santun. Sedangkan, dari 44 data tuturan siswa laki-laki, presentase kesantunannya sebesar 61,4% dan 38,6% tuturannya tidak santun. Berdasarkan presentase di atas, siswa perempuan lebih santun dibandingkan dengan siswa laki-laki dalam bertutur di sekolah. Pemakaian strategi kesantunan antara siswa laki-laki dan perempuan juga berbeda, siswa laki-laki lebih condong menggunakan strategi kesantunan positif sedangkan siswa perempuan condong menggunakan strategi kesantunan negatif dalam bertutur. Pihak sekolah hendaknya mendidik siswanya agar menjadi siswa yang santun, baik dalam bersikap maupun dalam bertutur. Kesantunan adalah menciptakan keharmonisan dan menghindari terjadi konflik dalam bertutur. Kata Kunci : kesantunan, kode bahasa, gender, sosiopragmatik This research uses descriptive qualitative design with the aim of describing (1) the form of the speechpoliteness in language code choiceon female students,(2) the form of the speechpoliteness in language code choice on male students, (3) the speech politeness strategies in language code choice on female students, and (4) the speech politeness strategies in language code choice on male studentsat SMAN 1 Ubud. The sources of the data in this study were students of SMAN 1 Ubud. The methods used to collect the data are observation and interview methods. The data analyze is done by a few steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of this research showed that the data of 37 female studentsspeech,the percentage of their speech politeness is 75.7% and 25.3% their speech were not polite. Whereas, the data of 44 male students speech, the percentage of their speech politeness by is 61.4% and 38.6% their speech were not polite. Based on the percentage above, female students are more polite than male students in the school. The use of politeness strategies between male and female students are different, male students are more inclined to use positive politeness strategy while female students inclined to use negative politeness strategy to speak. The school should educate students to become well-mannered students, both in attitude and in speak. Politeness is to create harmony and avoid conflict in speak. keyword : politeness, language code, gender, sociopragmatic

Abstract

The ?Kekawin Sutasoma? composition is a masterpiece containing the teachings of ethics, philosophy and theological concept of Shiva ? Buddha, which guide humans to obtain the essence of ultimate happiness in life. The research on the ?Kekawin Sutasoma? composition could be said as the activity and effort to make an inventory of culture, which has the significant objective, namely, protecting and preserving traditions born from the civilization of Hindu ? Buddha community. Conducting the research on the ?Kekawin Sutasoma? composition composed by Mpu Tantular has signified the digging of the purity of Shiva - Buddha teachings, which become the foundation of the religious life of Hindu people in Bali as well as national and state life. The Shiva ? Buddha teachings is the syncretism of Hindu and Buddha religions in Indonesia. During the age of Majapahit Kingdom in Indonesia, the religions of Shiva and Buddha have blended into one and this could be seen in several literary compositions and one of them is ?Kekawin Sutasoma?, that educates people to always to get along well with others and living side by side amid differences. In Indonesia, the people consist of different tribes, religions, races and groups and each has its own unique characteristics. If we comprehend Shiva ? Buddha teachings in ?Kakawin Sutasoma? composition, we are actually taught to get along well amid differences. The purpose is to prevent discord within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia

Abstract

Legitimacy of Balinese Customary Lawin Cultural Literature Works. This article talks about the legitimacy of Balinese customary law and the reinterpretation of the authors of Balinese customary law in cultural literary works. The source of research data comes from the collection of "Bunga Jepun" short stories by Fajar Arcana, "Mandi Api" by Aryantha Soethama, Novel "Tarian Bumi" by Oka Rusmini, and "Incest" by Wayan Artika. The research data was collected by the library study method and then analyzed based on a qualitative descriptive approach which has several mechanisms, namely reduction, presentation of data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the legality of Balinese customary law in question in cultural literature is about the customary law of marriage, the law of inheritance, the law of neglect (exclusion), and the ritual law of malik sumpah. These customary laws become a polemic and are discussed in literary works because they are unable to provide justice for the people and tend to be discriminatory. Abstract

There are two objectives to be achieved by this study, first revealing the dominance of patriarchism in systems of inheritance. Secondly, revealing efforts to represent resistance to the customary systems of inheritance in literary works of Balinese cultural background. Theoretically, this research has an urgency for the development of literary discourse, while practically giving an understanding to the public about the attitude of inheritance issues in Bali. Theories of literary sociology and feminism are used as a basic foundation for analyzing the problems offered in this study. The main data sources of the research are two novels by Oka Rusmini, namely Tarian Bumi and Kenanga and two short stories by Putu Fajar Arcana, namely Sulasih and Wardani Marriage. After the data has been collected using the literature study method, then it is analyzed based on a descriptive qualitative method. The results show that the dominance of patriarchism in the adat system of inheritance has created social inequality. The customary inheritance system rules in literary works (Tarian Bumi, Kenanga, Sulasih, and Pernikahan Wardani) are monolithic, showing no partiality towards girls. Daughters who have “ninggal kedaton” (married) do not get a family “gunakaya” inheritance (gono gini). Efforts to resist patriarchal domination as represented in various literary works, starting with the character Luh Sadri, took repressive actions to sue for the distribution of inheritance, deceit, and be tough.

Abstract

This study examines forms of feudalistic ideological hegemony and character resistance against them in literary works set against Balinese sociocultural. This research has a theoretical contribution to the development of science especially about sociological discourse in literature. This study uses a critical descriptive qualitative research design that moves from a functional approach to literary works with Balinese sociocultural background. The primary data sources in this study were the novels of Tarian Bumi (2007) by Oka Rusmini, Incest (2008) by I Wayan Artika, and short story Ketika Kentongan Dipukul di Bale Banjar (1969) by Rasta Sindhu. The study concludes that the feudalistic ideological hegemony in Balinese sociocultural literary works are represented by customary matters of adat and the caste system. The characters resistance against them are carried out in various ways ranging from being strong, independent, showing mimicry attitude; masculinity and sexual disorientation, and being reactionary.

Abstract

AbstractThis article talks about the legitimacy of Balinese customary law and the reinterpretation of the authors of Balinese customary law in cultural literary works. Theoretically, this research has an urgency in the development of science, especially the knowledge of literary discourse, while practically providing understanding to the public about Balinese customary law and how to address the cultural problems of the people in Bali. This study used a descriptive qualitative research design that moved from a functional approach to Balinese cultural literary works. The primary data sources of this research are a collection of "Bunga Jepun" short stories by Fajar Arcana, "Mandi Api" by Aryantha Soethama, Novel "Tarian Bumi" by Oka Rusmini, and "Incest" by Wayan Artika. The research data were collected by the library study method and then analyzed based on a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the study indicate that the legality of Balinese customary law is questioned in cultural literary works on marital customary law, inheritance law, neglect law, and the law of malik sumpah.
