Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine whether there is a contribution of body mass index towards physical fitness in pencak silat athletes in Palopo City. This is a quantitative descriptive research. The independent variable is body mass index and the dependent variable is physical fitness. The population in this study is the pencak silat athletes inPalopo city. The number of populations are 15 athletes. Sampling technique was saturated sample technique, where all members of the population become sample. The sample in this study are 15 athletes. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive techniques, categorization, data normality, correlation and regression tests using the SPSS program. The results of this study suggest that: The level of body mass index of pencak silat athletes in Palopo City is in the normal category which is 93%. The level of physical fitness of the o pencak silat athletes in Palopo is in the good category at 73%. There is a significant contribution of body mass index to physical fitness in pencak silat athletes in Palopo City which is 64.5%.

Abstract

The research is based on the importance of mental toughness in the achievement of martial arts athletes. The function of mental toughness and emotional control is to maintain performance in the face of adversity. This study aims to find (1) a description of the emotional and stress training model for pencak silat martial arts athletes (2) a description of emotional processing and its impact on the success of pencak silat martial arts athletes, and (3) a description of the operational model of emotional and stress control in pencak silat martial arts athletes. . The sample in this study were the pencak silat athletes from the city of Palopo. The method used in data collection is qualitative. The research subjects were 7 informants consisting of 2 coaches and 5 athletes. The sample criteria that must be met are as follows: (1) parents living in the same house as athletes (2) male and female (3) athletes aged 18 – 22 years. Results of this study Based on the description of the results of the study, overall the martial arts athletes in this study showed quite good attitudes and behavior, seen from their self-confidence, stress management and good emotions. The description states that the emotional aspect as central to one's life needs important attention by coaches and parents, so that a comprehensive understanding of the development of children's emotional stimulation is needed.

Abstract

Pencak silat, one of the martial arts sports, is one of Indonesia's ancestral heritage which is widely spread throughout the archipelago. In the current development of pencak silat, it tends to become an achievement sports with high competition, thus encouraging athletes to improve their abilities. For sports, achievement is more directed at competition which ends with "win or lose" for the participating parties. Therefore, training is very necessary in winning an achievement. Qualitative research is collecting data in a natural setting with the intention of interpreting phenomena that can occur where the researcher is the key instrument, sampling data source is carried out purposively. The research subjects are 6 informants, parents and trainers and a sibling with a total of 2 parents and 2 trainers and 2 siblings. The result of this research, based on the explanation that the role of parents and coaches are necessary in increasing athletes; achievement, whether in the form of prayer, support, training facility and emotional support.
