Abstract

Cellulose from banana fruit bunch was used as a precursor for doping titanium oxide (TiO2) in producing of TiO2/cellulose adsorbent.  Cellulose was obtained by chemical impregnation using potassium hydroxide (KOH) and followed by the hydrothermal process at 250oC for 5 h. The mixture of TiO2 nanoparticles and cellulose was carried out into hydrothermal reactor under de-ionized water and ethanol and heated up to 200oC for 4 h in graphite furnace. Surface morphology analysis showed that the TiO2 clearly immobilized on the surface of cellulose with an increasing roughness of surface and irregular size of porosity. The development of the amorphous to the crystalline phase of TiO2/cellulose was clearly observed by the XRD. The effectiveness of TiO2/cellulose for removal of rhodamine B was investigated from different parameters of adsorption in aqueous solution. Kinetic models were well described by the pseudo-first and second-order with the best correlation coefficient (R2) attributing to the occurrence of chemisorption and physisorption mechanism.

Abstract

Trash can bring disastrous consequences for public health if they are notinsurmountable. If the waste is disposed or stacked haphazardly without propermanagement, it will cause a variety of health problems that occur in the community. Some of us did not realize that every day buildup of waste both organic garbage(wastethat can be described) or inorganic (waste that can not be described). On the Krajan, every morning most of the mothers clean up his yard from the dried leaves are falling. But the women in Krajan have not been able to manage the waste becomes moreuseful. That is not why I entered this program, to provide new knowledge to the mothers thatactually dry leaf litter can be used as fertilizer. The program is carried out because theystill lack awareness of mothers about the dangers of burning trash for environmentalsustainability, so that people are not maintaining the environment in the surroundingarea. The objective of this program is to broaden the mothers to be able to processwaste into more useful items, namely fertilizers, and is also expected by theimplementation of this program, citizens become better maintain the environmentaround it. The event begins with an introduction to the program, the provision ofmaterial about what is organic waste, organic fertilizer third practice. The resultsobtained are people Krajan can tell which are organic and inorganic waste. For themothers, of the waste can be made into fertilizer, so Krajan so much cleaner.

Abstract

Utilization of animal urine have been made by the Japanese to be used asfertilizer. In the urine of animals based on research in goat urine already containsNitrogen 36.9 to 37.31%, Phosphate 16.5 to 16.8 ppm, and calcium from 0.67 to 1.27%.This composition is similar to SP-36 fertilizer composition. Based on the research alsotwo (2) kilograms of urea fertilizer the equivalent of 2.5 liters of fertilizer fromfermented goat urine. Based on the averagedata goat / sheep can produce 2.5 liters ofurine per day. Thus, for the farmers and ranchers will be many benefits that can bederived from animal wastes in the form of urine. Farmers can be more independent andto be independent of artificial chemical fertilizers / inorganic. Dusun communityenvironment Sigodog, Purbowono Village, District Kaligesing, Purworejo a lot of peopleraising Etawa. Then this program can also be a step to add value to waste that was in thearea.

Abstract

Oil palm shell was used as a precursor for preparation of activated carbon using different chemical activations (potassium hydroxide (KOH), zinc chloride (ZNCl2), and phosphoric acid (H3PO4)). Each activated carbons (AC) was mixed with nano-zinc oxide to form a composite. From the gas sorption analyzer, it is showed that nitrogen adsorption isotherms show Type II for ZnO/AC-KOH and ZnO/AC-ZnCl2 corresponding to the micro- and mesoporous structures, respectively. However, the nitrogen adsorption isotherm of ZnO/AC-H3PO4 exhibits the Type I with predominantly microporous structures. The SEM micrographs produced unsmooth surface and different pore sizes. The XRD patterns at 2θ of 25.06° and 26.75° were come from amorphous activated carbon. The peak intensity of ZnO was weak due to low concentration of zinc precursor. However, the ZnO of ZnO/AC-ZnCl2 showed strongly peak intensity. The effectiveness of the composites was examined for phenol removal determined by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer method. The equilibrium adsorption follows the Langmuir and Freundlich models according to the best correlation coefficient (R2). The kinetic model was only obtained for the pseudo-second-order with the best linearity of the correlation coefficient (R2). The results of this study showed that the oil palm shell has a great potential for ZnO/AC with excellent adsorptive property. Copyright © 2021 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group.
