Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the real effect of coffee grounds on the growth and yield of caisim (Brassica chinensis L.) and to determine the appropriate dose of coffee grounds to increase the growth and maximum yield of caisim (Brassica chinensis L.). This research was conducted from April 2022 to May 2022 at the Peat Techno Park (PTP) University of Palangka Raya. This study used an environmental design, namely Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were Control (P0), 20 g (P1), 40 g (P2), 60 g (P3), 80 (P4). The parameters used in this study were plant height, number of leaves, year width, crown weight and root weight. From the observations obtained, it was analyzed to determine the real effect of the treatment using analysis of variance (F test) at the level of α = 5% and 1%. Data analysis will be continued with the Least Significant Difference Test (LSD) at α = 5% to determine the significant difference between treatment levels. The treatment of coffee grounds significantly affected the height, number of leaves, leaf area, top crown weight and root weight of caisim plants. Giving 20 g of coffee grounds gave optimum results on the growth and yield of caisim plants.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has the largest peat area in the tropics, estimated at 21 million ha. This research aims to determine the effect of the distance from the drainage channel on fluctuations in groundwater levels (water table) and physical properties of peat soil in different land cover conditions with open land planted with Rambutan trees (N. lappaceum) and bush land growing ferns (Pteridophyta) and Bajakah. (S. littoralis). This research was carried out from August to October 2023 in Tumbang Nusa Village, Jabiren Raya Subdistrict, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province and the UPT. LLG-CIMTROP Laboratory, University of Palangka Raya. Firstly take n 1 (one) whole soil sample (undisturb) and taken ± 1 kg by using a ring with a depth of 0-20 cm and measure the physical properties of the soil 4 (four) times, once every 2 (two) weeks at each sampling point peat. The method used in the research is purposive sampling, namely a sampling method with certain considerations in 4 (four) plots each with different land cover. Data is processed using Microsoft Excel 2021 for Windows which will be presented in the form of tables and graphs. The results of groundwater level measurements in the field show a weak relationship, a very weak relationship and a fairly strong relationship between the physical properties of peat soil in different land cover conditions. The relationship between ground water level (water table) and volumetric weight, water content and temperature are cubic and positive. The relationship between ground water level (water table) and particle density and humidity in different land conditions shows a negative cubic relationship. From testing the soil properties, the cumulative effect is volume weight (bulk density), temperature and water content, where the R2 value for volume weight is 0,4518 and temperature is 0,56. Then the water table is influenced by the distance from drainage canal. Keywords: Peat soil, water table, physical properties, land use, drainage canal, and environmental factors

Abstract

Abstract

Pests and disease are one of the factors that cause yield loss of red chilli. Knowledge of the population dynamics of the main pests and diseases of red chilli can be used as the basis for recommendations for pest and disease control. The research aims to analyze pests and diseases population dynamics on red chilli cultivation, the influence of environmental factors and the influence of population dynamics on red chilli production. This research was conducted in Kereng Bangkirai Village Sebangau District, Kalampangan Village Sebangau District and Tanjung Pinang Village Pahandut District, Palangka Raya City. The research was conducted from December 2022 to March 2023. The research using a quantitative descriptive method. The sample plants used the diagonal plot sampling method, with an area of 4 m x 4 m. Observation were made in the morning once a week from transplanting to harvesting. The result showed that the dynamics of the main pest population of red chilli plants was influenced by the availability of food, the population of red chilli pests was high when the condition of the plant organs (leaves) was still at a young age which was suitable for its feed designation, the dynamics of anthracnose disease was influenced by temperature and humidity; Temperature and humidity do not always have a significant effect on pest and disease population dynamics. Fluctuating pest populations are influenced by the cultivation system applied by farmers, especially the use of synthetic pesticides; The higher number of pest and disease populations cause less production of red chilli plants.

Abstract

In 2020 and 2021, there was a big flood in (Technical Implementation Unit) UPT Tanggul Harapan, Pematang Limau Village, Seruyan Hilir District and Mekar Indah Village, Seruyan Hilir Timur District and it forced some people to flee their homes. The overflowing of Seruyan River is caused by high intensity of rain and river flooding from the headwaters of Seruyan. This condition occurred because of Mekar Indah Village and UPT. Tanggul Harapan is in a downstream location. The main objective of this research is to find out the effective way of controlling floods in the Seruyan River. The calculation result of flood peak volume is obtained by using the synthesis of hydrograph units using the SCS and Snyder methods. The results of this research indicated that the design of periodic re-rain for 50 years prior to the handling of floods in the area of UPT Tanggul Harapan occurred flooding of 94.96% of the entire area of UPT Tanggul Harapan. Meanwhile, in Mekar Indah Village occurred 40.72%, after simulating flood handling in making an embankment along 20111 m, elevation 5 m above sea level, top width of the embankment 5 m and 4 units of floodgates. It indicated a significant change in the flood area in UPT Tanggul Harapan to only 1.23%, while in Mekar Indah Village it is 0.80%. The simulation result indicated that flood management by making embankment is able to reduce the flood area by 93.19% in UPT Tanggul Harapan and 39.92% in Mekar Indah Village
