Abstract

Background: Infectious disease is a disease caused by a particular toxin.Infectious diseases that acquired from the hospital environment called nosocomial infections. Hepatitis B, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS is a commonly infectious disease that often found in dental practice. The risk for dentist to infected the infectious diseases are very high, due to direct contact with saliva. The awareness of infection control at the dentist is very important to prevent disease transmission.This aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of the dentist with the precautions against infection diseases.Method: Cross-sectional analytic study with one group post-test only design was done in 25 dentists in the Dental Hospital Sultan Agung Semarang. The instrument for this research was used a questionnaire and a check list. Questionnaire was used to determine the level of knowledge, while the check list to determine the actions of the respondents. Data were analyzed with Pearson Correlation Test.Result: The questionnaire and the check list that was used is valid and reliable. The results showed 95.8% of respondents have a good knowledge, 4.2% are good enough knowledgeand 0% is lackingknowledge. All respondents have a good action in the prevention of infectious diseases. Pearson correlation test results showed p = 0.041, which means that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge of the dentists with the precautions against infectious diseases.Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge of the dentists with the precautions of infectious diseases, where the strength of the correlation is moderate.

Abstract

Background: Riskesdas data in 2018 showed a 57.6% dental and oral problems prevalence. One of the abnormalities of the teeth and mouth is malocclusion. Malocclusion can be fixed by performing orthodontic treatments performed by orthodontist dentists. However, because orthodontic care requires a considerable cost, those with low economy and education look for alternatives by performing orthodontic treatments to dental artisans. Objectives: This study evaluates the patient's quality of life (QoL) with fixed orthodontic treatment by dental artisans (denturists) using the OHIP-14 questionnaire.Methods: The research method used is descriptive observational, where samples are taken by random sampling of the 67 patients who used fixed orthodontic treatment by denturists. This research applied a cross-sectional study conducted by collecting data only using the OHIP-14 questionnaire at a time without further investigation. The data analysis applied was the Univariate Statistical test.Results: The results of the total score obtained from the dimensions of functional limitations are 238 (moderate category), physical pain is 220 (moderate category), psychological discomfort is 205 (moderate category), physical disability is 232 (moderate category), psychological disability is 225 (moderate category), social disabilities is 230 (moderate category), the barriers is 246 (bad category).Conclusion: Several factors caused denturists' impaired QoL of patients in fixed orthodontic treatment, with six as moderate categories and one as poor.

Abstract

Background: Medical records according to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia number 269 / MENKES / PER / III / 2008 are files containing notes and documents concerning identity, examination, treatment, actions, and other services that have been provided to patients. Medical records are also used as written evidence of all service actions and as legal protection for patients, hospitals and doctors and other health workers. Method: This study aims to determine the relationship between dentist legal understanding, attitudes and behavior on the completeness of filling out medical records in Semarang City. This type of research was analytic observational using a cross sectional study. The subjects of this study were dentists who graduated from 2017 to 2019. The samples were selected according to the inclusion criteria obtained from the clinic concerned. Result: The results showed that the writing of the completeness of medical records included in the incomplete category was 20 dentist respondents, 25 dentist respondents in the incomplete category, and no dentist who filled out the complete medical record. Conclusion: There is a relationship between legal knowledge and attitudes of dentists towards completeness of filled in medical records and there was no relationship between dentist behaviour and completeness of filling in medical records.

Abstract

Background: Electronic medical records in dentistry are the latest implementation in the health sector, especially dental health history to the services needed by patients by health care facilities and affect the format of dental, medical records and electronic medical record security systems. This study aimed to review the completeness of the medical record format and the electronic medical record security system of the dental polyclinic of the General Hospital in Batam City. Method: This study used a descriptive cross-sectional observational design with two samples. Processing data in the form of tables and texts and conclusions as a result of research. Result: The results showed incomplete dental electronic medical record formats at hospital A, such as patient identity, required medical data, odontogram, intraoral examination, and treatment chart, while Hospital B included patient identity, required medical data, intraoral analysis, treatment chart, and appendix. The two samples did not meet the integrity and non-repudiation aspects of the electronic medical record security system. Conclusion: According to the Indonesian Dental Medical Record Guidelines, both samples have an incomplete dental electronic medical record format and security system.

Abstract

Background: The practice of dentists must appropiate with the standards and ethics of the dental profession. Lack of understanding of the Kode Etik Kedokteran Gigi and lack of professional discipline have led to many cases of legal and ethical violations committed by doctors. Knowledge will affect a person's actions or practices, knowledge of dental law and ethics will influence students to act in accordance with dental ethics and law to prevent ethical and legal violations. Basically, the level of one's knowledge of professional ethics and dental law can be influenced by several factors. The aim to this study to determine the level of dental law and ethics knowledge. Method: The research was conducted by filling out questionnaires directly by the subject. The level of knowledge is classified into 3 levels, low, sufficient and high. Result: The results showed that students in the second year of preclinical, fourth year of preclinic, first year of clinic, second year of clinic, and third year of clinic had a good level of dental ethical and legal knowledge with an overall percentage in the range of 76-100%, while third year preclinical students have a sufficient level of knowledge. Conclusion: Sultan Agung Islamic University dental students have a good level of knowledge regarding the ethics and laws of dentistry.

Abstract

Background: Masyarakat masih banyak yang belum memahami tentang Tindakan pencabutan gigi dan resikonya. Tindakan pencabutan gigi kepada pasien memiliki resiko kecacatan bahkan kematian, untuk itu dokter gigi harus melakukan anamnesa dan informed consent terlebih dahulu sampai pasien benar-benar mengerti segala hal tentang resiko Tindakan pencabutan gigi. Objective : Edukasi tentang informed consent dan resiko Tindakan pencabutan gigi kepada masyarakat sangat perlu dilakukan agar tidak terjadi sengketa medis dalam pelayanan Kesehatan gigi Method: metode edukasi yang digunakan berupa penyuluhan interaktif secara langsung kepada masyarakat kabupaten tegal dan penyebran leaflet tentang informed consent tindakan pencabutan gigi . Result: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di kabupaten tegal berjalan dengan lancar dan dihadiri oleh 47 peserta. Pemahaman masyarakat kabupaten tegal tentang Tindakan pencabutan gigi dan informed meningkat Conclusion: Penyuluhan interaktif serta penyebran leaflet efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang tindakan pencabutan gigi dan persetujuan tindakan kedokteran (informed consent) dalam pelayanan kesehatan

Abstract

Background: The Social Security Organizing Agency (BPJS) is an initiative by the government to improve the quality of healthcare services. However, in reality, the services provided to BPJS patients have not yet reached optimal standards. The objective of this research is to identify patients' perceptions regarding the quality of services between BPJS and non-BPJS patients in the dental clinic of Sunan Kalijaga Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Demak.Method: This research was conducted at the Dental Clinic of Sunan Kalijaga Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Demak in the year 2020, using an observational analytical approach based on a cross-sectional design. The sample was selected using the slovin technique, with a total of 78 respondents divided into two groups, namely 39 respondents who were BPJS participants and 39 other respondents who were not BPJS participants.Result: The research results showed differences in SERVQUAL service quality scores between patients who were participants of BPJS and those who were not BPJS participants. Based on the analysis of both groups across the dimensions, reliability had gap scores of -0.7 and -0.9, tangible evidence had gap scores of -0.5 and -0.6, responsiveness had gap scores of -0.9 and -1, assurance had gap scores of -0.4 and -0.4, and empathy had gap scores of -0.4 and -1.1. These scores obtained a significance value (p<0.05),Conclusion: There were significant differences in patient perceptions between the quality of patient services for BPJS participants and non-BPJS patients.
