Abstract

Diabetics militus is a group of metabolic diseases with hyperglichemic that is caused by abnormality insulin secretion, insulin works, or both of them. One of alternative for decreasing sugar levels is yam bean and tomato juices consumption. The aim of the research is to exposed the influence of yam bean juice and tomato juice againts sugar levels of diabetics militus type 2. This research is experimental study with pretes-posttest with control group design. We used purposive sampling with 18 respondenses. The primary data are intake interview, IMT measurement, and blood sugar levels. And the secondary data are the data resources about diabetics militus. Data are analyzed statically by T-test two mean differences dependent and independent with error degree 5%. The result showed that the avarage of sugar blood levels before and after intervension respectively is 287,6 mg/dl and 220,8 mg/dl. There was the significant difference between blood sugar levels before and after group cases (p<0,05). The avarages of blood sugar levels before and after intervension on control’s group respectively are 317,8 mg/dl and 331,9 mg/dl. There was no significant difference of blood sugar levels in the begining and final of control’s group (p<0,05). There was an influence of yam bean juice and tomato juice supply againts blood sugar levels at a time (p<0,05). This study is expected to suggest the people with diabetes mellitus to consume yam bean and tomato juice as an alternative way to control or to decrease blood level sugar.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the world. One of the causes is hypercholesterolemia. The management of hypercholesterolemia can be done through non-pharmacological efforts by consuming hypocholesterolemic foods, including jicama and probiotic drinks. Probiotic and jicama drinks contain active compounds inulin and lactic acid bacteria which can control total cholesterol levels.Objectives: to determine the effectiveness of jicama yogurt probiotics on lipid profile and trygliceride levels of hypercholesterolemic employees of the Campus I Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health Padang.Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental study with pre-posttest design. The sample was 18 people from the Campus I Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health Padang with hypercholesterolemia, the study was conducted in January - November 2019. Respondents were given 120 ml of jicama yogurt probiotic for 14 days. Analysis using the dependent t-test.Results: The results showed that the average initial total cholesterol level was 218.33 mg/dL, HDL 51.11 mg/dL, LDL 145.11 mg/dL, triglycerides 111.39 mg/dL and the final total cholesterol level was 217.78 mg/dL, HDL 56.67 mg/dL, LDL 139.56 mg/dL, Triglycerides 109.22 mg/dL. The average reduction in total cholesterol levels in the group was 0.56 mg/dL, LDL was 5.56 mg/dL, triglycerides 2.17 mg/dL, an average increase in HDL levels was 5.56 mg/dL. The results of statistical tests showed that there was a significant difference between HDL levels before and after intervention (p 0.05).Conclusion: Jicama yogurt probiotics are more effective in positively modifying the lipid profile levels. Jicama yogurt probiotic can be used as an alternative complementary therapy for hypercholesterolemic sufferers.KEYWORDS: Hypercholesterolemia; jicama; Lipid profile; probiotics

Abstract

One of the factors that support an athlete's success in a match includes the compatibility of somatotype with the sport. This study aimed to determine the correlation between dietary habits and physical activity with the somatotype of game sports athletes. The design is a cross-sectional study. The study was held from February 2019 until May 2020. Sampling is using comprehensive selection which the samples amounted to 37 athletes. Anthropometric measurements carried out research data collection, interviews using the SQ-FFQ form, and Baecke physical activity scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate. The results showed that most soccer athletes (94.1%) and all takraw athletes (100%) have unsuitable somatotype categories, most soccer athletes (82.4%), and all takraw athletes (100%) have severe physical activity. Most soccer athletes (76.5%) and more than half of takraw athletes (55%) have poor dietary habits. The average somatotype of respondents is ectomorph, with the body's unique characteristics that tend to be thin. When intake is less than intake requirements, strenuous physical activity can cause the body to grow to be light. Respondents are advised to consume information as intake requirements to adjust the training scheme by adding weight training to the forming of athlete's muscle mass and to place nutritionists in PPLP.

Abstract

Hiperkolesterolemia merupakan penyakit degeneratif yang mengakibatkan terjadinya Penyakit Jantung Koroner yang dapat menyebabkan kematian akibat dari penyumbatan pembuluh darah.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian jus kombinasi tomat dan terong belanda terhadap kadar kolesterol total darah pasien Hiperkolesterolemia di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Nanggalo Kota Padang tahun 2019. Pada penelitian terdapat 16 orang responden yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yaitu 8 responden kelompok perlakuan yang diberikan jus kombinasi tomat dan terong belanda sebanyak 300 ml selama 14 hari, 8 responden kelompok kontrol yang diberikan jus tomat sebanyak 300 ml selama 14 hari Data diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji t beda dua rata- rata dependen dan uji t independen. Hasil analisa dengan uji-t beda dua mean dependen menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang bermakna terhadap pemberian jus kombinasi tomat dan terong belanda dengan rata-rata hasil penurunan 31,25 mg/dl. Diharapkan kepada peneliti yang ingin menggunakan buah tomat dan terong belanda harus memperhatikan rasa dari produk penelitian agar tidak terlau asam sehingga pemberian produk terhadap responden tidak mengalami komplikasi lainnya.
