Abstract

This study was motivated by the replacement and implementation of the 2013 curriculum in Indonesia. This study aimed to find out how the process of English language teaching in the 2013 curriculum, what are the teacher's constraints on the English language teaching process, and the efforts by the teachers. This study was a qualitative research. The samples of this study were six teachers from six state high schools in Sleman regency. Data collection in this study used observation, document analysis, and interviews. The data analysis technique used qualitative descriptive techniques. The results of the study indicated that the process of English language teaching using the 2013 curriculum was very good. The process of language teaching had implemented through three steps, starting with the pre-activity, core activity, and post-activity. The process of English teaching was based on process standard in the 2013 curriculum by using a scientific approach as one approach that encourages students to learn actively in developing attitude, knowledge and skill. The obstacles faced by teachers in the process of learning English include less of time, need to adapt to the scientific approach, and lack of 2013 curriculum handbooks. the efforts done by teachers were consultation with the senior teacher and instructor of curriculum 2013, routine discussion in MGMP forum, and searching sources of learning from various sources. In conclusion, the learning process in the 2013 curriculum is carried out based on the standard learning process by using a scientific approach that encourages students to learn actively in developing attitudes, knowledge, and skill.

Abstract

The background of this research comes from a controversial speech of Ahok. Speech delivered in the Kepulauan Seribu must be seen from the capacity of Ahok as the head of a region that has its own power and ideology. This research are not intended to see the true and false aspects of Ahok's speech that alludes to Surah Al-maidah verse 51, but this study aims to: (1) analyze ideological discourse; (2) analyze discourse and power relations; and (3) analyzing the implicatures that emerged from Ahok's speech in Kepulauan Seribu. The approach used in this research is critical discourse analysis. Sources of data in this study is the video of Ahok's speech in Kepulauan Seribu. The research data is a fragment of transcription of speech Ahok. The video of the speech is downloaded from the Youtube page. The analysis is not only in the textual aspect but also on the contextual aspect. The results of this study can be concluded that there are: (1) elements of Islamic ideology and the ideology of feminism in Ahok's speech; (2) power relations in Ahok's speech; (3) implicatures as a model of meaning implied in Ahok's speech.

Abstract

Research on the development of learning media urgently needs to be done for junior high school students. The existence of learning media is expected to increase students' understanding and mastery of certain materials. This research aims to: (1) produce a product in the form of learning media Noun Words Domino Card (NWDC) that is feasible for seventh graders of eight State Junior High School Satap Woja, (2) know the practicality of NWDC learning media for students, (3) know the effectiveness of NWDC learning media in increasing student vocabulary mastery. This research is Research and Development (R&D) by using the ADDIE model consisting of five steps: analyze design, develop, implement, and evaluate. The results showed: (1) the learning media noun words domino card (NWDC) is feasible for using and testing to students. The feasibility is based on the assessment by material experts with a feasibility value of 3.7 and media experts 3.5, (2) the learning media of noun words domino card (NWDC) is practically used in improving the vocabulary mastery of students. The practicality is based on the student's response as a user of learning media with a total average score of 3.6, (3) learning media noun words domino card (NWDC) is effective in increasing the mastery of student vocabulary. It was obtained from the average oral test score of students who passed the minimum completion criteria of English subjects.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the fact that local tales are not well documented. So that implies the limitations of the local fairy tale book archives that can be used as effective teaching materials in increasing learning achievement. This development research aimed to: (1) produce feasibility of fairy tale book of the Mbojo tribe for the fourth-grade students of  SDN 26 Dompu, (2) to determine the effectiveness of the fairy tale book of the Mbojo tribe in improving the learning achievement of the fourth-grade students of SDN 26 Dompu. This research was development research (R & D) using the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The results of this research: (1) The fairy tale book of the Mbojo tribe in two languages as teaching material for Indonesian to improve students achievement was feasible to be tested and used. Feasibility was obtained from the assessment of the expert of media and materials; (2) The fairy tale book of the Mbojo tribe in two languages as Indonesian language teaching materials to improve student achievement was effective in increasing student achievement. The effectiveness was seen from the results obtained by students. The test results showed that the students were able to pass the minimum completeness criteria score set by the school.

Abstract

Sebagai produk budaya suatu dari daerah, dongeng memiliki banyak nilai yang terkandung di dalamnya.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang termuat dalam cerita rakyat suku Mbojo. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dala penelitian ini yaitu metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian diambil dari buku “kumpulan dongeng suku Mbojo: sebagai bahan ajar bahasa Indonesia di Sekolah Dasar” yang diterbitkan oleh penerbit Nathan Indonesia 2020. Data-data yang dibutuhkan dalam penelitian dikumpulkan melalui membaca secara cermat unsur-unsur dongeng yang termuat dalam buku. Teknik yang digunanakan dalam penelitian teknik catat. Teknik analisis data yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan teknik analisis isi (content analysis). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat lima nilai pendidikan karakter yang termuat dalam buku kumpulan dongeng suku Mbojo di antaranya: (1) peduli sosial; (2) keadilan; (3) tanggung jawab; (4) kerjasama; (5) menghargai pendapat orang lain.

Abstract

Pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran dengan Menggunakan Hellison’s Model bertujuan untuk memberikan kebebasan pada Mahasiswa untuk bertanggung Jawab, Mandiri serta melakukan langkah-langkah kreatif, ilmiah dengan cara mengumpulkan data dari hasil pembelajaran, kemudian Mahasiswa dapat menafsirkan, menganalisis, dan akhirnya sampai pada suatu kesimpulan, sehingga diharapkan prestasi belajar Mahasiswa menjadi tumbuh dan meningkat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (developmental research), dengan mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran yang meliputi: Buku Ajar, RPS, Worksheet serta instrument kemampuan berpikir kreatif Mahasiswa yang mengacu pada model 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, dan Deisemination). Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskriptif, pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran Hellison’s Model pada Mata Kuliah Penanganan dan Perawatan Cedera ”Loi Ncara Ro Mpoka” untuk Melatih Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif Mahasiswa diketegorikan Layak  atau “Sangat Baik”, karena keenam kriteria perangkat pembelajaran yang baik terpenuhi. Secara keseluruhan Perangkat Pembelajaran Penanganan dan perawatan cedera olahraga ini layak digunakan dalam penerapan Penanganan dan perawatan cedera olahraga untuk Mahasiswa setelah melalui 2 tahap uji coba. Penelitian pengembangan ini sudah tercapai untuk digunakan oleh Dosen dalam memperkenalkan Penanganan dan perawatan cedera olahraga kepada mahasiswa.

Abstract

Researchers feel it is important to conduct research on grammatical errors in students, it is based on mistakes made by students when speaking. In addition, based on previous relevant research, there are still gaps. This study aims to analyze the types of grammatical errors that occur in students of the English education study program STKIP Yapis Dompu. The research method used in this study is qualitative research with a descriptive case study approach. The results of this study indicate that there are four errors encountered in the speaking of students of the STKIP Yapis Dompu English Education Study Program, namely omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. Omission consists of five errors, addition consists of four errors. misformation consists of three errors and misordering consists of two errors. Thus, the grammatical errors found in students of the English Education Study Program STKIP Yapis Dompu are only limited to the four types mentioned above.

Abstract

Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) is a test instrument to measure an individual skill level to English proficiency. Today, TOEFL is studied by almost students in Indonesia at the university level. The study aims to find out; (1) how are the tutor's strategies in teaching TOEFL to Dompu Scholarship Hunter Community, (2) what are the tutor's obstacles in teaching TOEFL to Dompu Scholarship Hunter Community, and (3) how are the tutor's efforts in solve the obstacles in teaching TOEFL to Dompu Scholarships Hunter Community. The research method was a qualitative research method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data collection technique used structured interviews with three tutors. The findings were: (1) the tutor’s strategies were direct-learning, indirect learning, interactive learning, and independent learning, (2) inadequate time of learning per meeting, different basic abilities of students, and late distribution of TOEFL modules, (3) tutors provide TOEFL ebooks and additional assignments outside of class, and insert general material in each topic discussion.

Abstract

Nowadays the TOEFL test is very important. The TOEFL test is not only to measure English proficiency, but also for the sake of scholarship requirements, and as a requirement to graduate from college. This study explores the difficulties of EFL students in learning the TOEFL ITP of Structure and Written Expression (SWE) and how EFL students overcome difficulties in learning the TOEFL ITP of SWE. This study uses a narrative inquiry design. The data used in this study is qualitative data obtained from information provided by students through questionnaires and interviews. The results of the study show that there are several difficulties for students in learning TOEFL ITP, namely sentences with multiple clauses, sentences with inverted subjects and verbs, problems with prepositions, problems with the form of the verb, sentences with one clause, problems with subject/verb agreement. The way students overcome difficulties in the TOEFL ITP of SWE is to re-learn what has been taught by the tutor, reopen the module, learn from several other references besides the reference given by the tutor, learn from youtube, re-learn with classmates who have mastered the material. , do the practice questions independently. The findings in this research are expected to give an empirical contribution to TOEFL teachers to pay attention to students' difficulties in learning TOEFL ITP, especially SWE.
