Abstract

Research on the Study of Cocoon Production and Viability of Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull at various concentrations of Karbaril insecticide was carried out in July to October 2019, at the Laboratory of Animal Physiology, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. This study aims to study the production of cocoon and viabiltas earthworm Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull at various concentrations of carbaryl insecticide as well as getting concentrations of carbaryl insecticide began to react to the amount of cocoon and viability of the earthworm Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr.Mull. Contribution of research on the availability of data on the production of cocoon and viabiltas cocoon of earthworm Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr.Mull after being given various concentrations of carboxyl insecticide and providing information especially to farmers about the effect of various concentrations of carbaryl insecticide on non-target animals, especially soil animals namely Pontoscolex corethrurus Frethrurus earthworm . Mull. This study uses a completely randomized design with 6 (six) treatments and 5 (five) repetitions. The treatment given in the form of carboxyl insecticide with a concentration of 0% (control); 0.1%; 0.2%; 0.3%; 0.4%; 0.5%. Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance, if there were significant differences followed by Duncan's Test at a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the treatment of various concentrations of carboxyl insecticide significantly affected the average number of cocoon and viability of the earthworm cocoon Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull. Average number of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. The lowest Mull was found in the administration of carboxyl insecticide at a concentration of 0.5%, 0.62 ± 0.06 cocoon / individual / week and the average number of earthworm cocoons Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. The highest Mull was found in the administration of carboxyl insecticide at a concentration of 0% (control), namely 3.62 ± 0.02 cocoon / individual / week. The average viabiltas cocoon of earthworms Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. The lowest Mull was found in the administration of carboxyl insecticide at a concentration of 0.5%, namely 18.85 ± 1.19% and the average viability of the earthworm cocoon Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. The highest Mull was found in the administration of carboxyl insecticide at a concentration of 0%, namely 98.65 ± 2.15%

Abstract

Penelitian tentang keanekaragaman jenis Arthropoda di Gua Putri dan Gua Selabe Kawasan Karst Desa Padang Bindu, Kecamatan Semidang Aji, Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu, Sumatera Selatan telah dilakukan pada bulan Februari-Agustus 2008. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman jenis Arthropoda, yang ada di dalam Gua Putri dan Gua Selabe. Metode yang digunakan adalah koleksi langsung, perangkap sumuran (pitfall trap) dan perangkap cahaya (light trap). Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan jumlah individu Arthropoda di Gua Selabe (_ = 835) (uji t, P = 0, 023896) dengan di Gua Putri (_ = 441). Nilai indeks keanekaragaman jenis Artrhropoda pada Gua Selabe (2,1143) lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan Gua Putri (1,9669). Jenis-jenis Arthropoda yang ditemukan di Gua Putri sebanyak 12 jenis dan di Gua Selabe sebanyak 20 jenis. Jenis-jenis tersebut yaitu Araneidae sp. 1, Blattidae sp. 1, Blattidae sp. 2, Blattidae sp. 3, Blattidae sp. 4, Diestrammenna sp, Diptera sp. 1, Heteropoda sp, Hymenoptera sp. 1, Labiida sp, Lampyridae sp. 1, Nocticola sp, Parathelpusa tridentata, Potalinda sp, Rhaphidophora sp, Staphylinidae sp. 1, Stillocellus sp, Stygophrynus sp, Squtigerra sp, Tricoptera sp. 1.

Abstract

Culex quinquefasciatus mosquito control can be performed at the larval stage using more environmentally friendly leaf of Spondias dulcis Forst. This study aims to determine the ability of extracts contained in the leaf S. dulcis Fosrt. as larvacide to larvae Cx. quinquefasciatus instar III. The study used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 6 treatments repeated 4 times. The treatment used was 125 ppm, 250 ppm, 500 ppm, and 1000 ppm with 2 controls, ie 0 ppm and temefos 1 ppm. Observations were made after 24 hours of exposure and data obtained in the analysis using one way ANOVA, to see the real difference used Duncan test, and Probit was used to calculate the LC50 value. The results obtained are the extract has the ability as a larvacide of killing by 92.50% at a concentration of 1000 ppm.

Abstract

Musi River Sungsang Village which is located near the settlement makes people throw garbage into the sea during high tides so that it will affect water quality and have an impact on macrozoobenthos. It is im-portant to know the diversity of macrozoobenthos in the waters of the Musi River in Sungsang Village, South Sumatra. This research was carried out from January 2018 to August 2018 in the Musi River in Sungsang Vil-lage, South Sumatra by using the method of direct observation and randomized group design. The research location was determined by purposive sampling method and divided into 4 stations, each station had 1 line transect and each line transect was taken as many as 10 samples. ANOVA, overley and correlation analysis are used to process data. Based on research conducted in the Musi River in Sungang Village, there were 14 ma-crozoobenthos taxa consisting of 3 classes: bivalves, gastropods and polychaeta. Index of macrozoobenthos di-versity in Musi River in Sungsang Village is classified as ranging from 0,000 – 1,733. Organic matter does not af-fect macrooobenthic in the Musi River in Sungsang Village, South Sumatra

Abstract

This research is to know the kind of bats based on morphology and morphometry identification in campus area of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The research was conducted at campus area of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya and the specimen was preserved at Animal Taxonomy Laboratory of Biology Department of FMIPA Sriwijaya Universi-ty. The research method used is the installation mist net traps in four location that is area of biology department, lecturer housing, mushollah area FMIPA, and the front gate of UNSRI. The installation was conducted in afternoon from 5-9 pm. The catch results obtained 104 bats consisting of three types of fruit eaters, that is 57 Cynopterus brachyotis with mor-phometry average mass 27.80 gram, whole body 74.90 mm, tail 13.27 mm, ear 17.19 mm, whole feet 13.94 mm, fore arm 63.05 mm, dan tibia 23.84 mm, 14 Cynopterus sphinx with morphometry average mass 32.84 gram, whole body 82.45 mm, tail 13.37 mm, ear 18.09 mm, whole feet 15.04 mm, fore arm 65.32 mm, dan tibia 24.36 mm, one Rousettus amplex-icaudatus with morphometry mass 67.5 gram, whole body 95.6 mm, tail 19.5 mm, ear 21.5 mm, whole feet 20.8 mm, fore arm 70.8 mm, dan tibia 37.4 mm; one type of insectivorous 31 Chaerephon plicatus with morphometri average mass 14.35 gram, whole body 62.64 mm, tail 44.17 mm, ear 20.52 mm, whole feet 10.31 mm , fore arm 48.02 mm, dan tibia 37.4 mm; and one type of nectar eater one Macrglossus sobrinus with morphometry mass 20 gram, whole body 62.7 mm, tail 0 mm, ear 14.8 mm, whole feet 12 mm, fore arm 45.6 mm, dan tibia 21.5 mm.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang pengaruh berbagai jenis karbohidrat pada pakan buatan lengkap terhadap pertambahan berat dan periode makan larva Spodoptera exempta instar akhir (V). Larva dipelihara dengan pakan alami (buncis). Metoda yang digunakan adalah metoda makan tanpa pilih dengan pakan buatan lengkap yang berbeda jenis karbohidrat (sukrosa, fruktosa, glukosa, maltosa dan mannitol). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sukrosa merupakan jenis karbohidrat yang paling baik dalam meningkatkan pertambahan berat larva dan juga memberikan periode makan yang paling pendek terhadap larva Spodoptera exempta.

Abstract

Waders migrate to maintain survival, to find new food sources and avoid extreme environmental changes. Waders population in a location varies according to environmental conditions. The study was con-ducted using the point count method. The observation time of each location is 30 minutes with repetition 3 times. There are four observation locations, namely Bungin River Estuary, Solok Buntu Estuary, Barong Kecil River Estuary, and Siput River Estuary. Data analysis technique uses correlation analysis. The results showed the number of wader birds at the end of the season migration in the Siput River Estuary was 886 individuals, while the Barong Kecil River Estuary was 536 individuals, Bungin River Estuary 140 individuals, and Solok Buntu Estuary 105 individuals. Tringa totanus, Limosa laponica, and Numenius arquata can be found at each observation location. Wader birds population found correlated with macrozoobenthos density had a correla-tion coefficient of 0.73.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang virulensi Beauveria bassiana Indigenus terhadap ulat Bawang Merah Spodoptera exigua Hub. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui virulensi Beauveria bassiana isolat Lahat terhadap larva. Spodoptera exiguna dengan melihat daya bunuh isolat terhadap larva. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 kali pengulangan, dilanjutkan dengan Uji Lanjut Duncan dengan taraf nyata 5%. Waktu infeksi mulai terjadi pada hari ke 2 setelah aplikasi, waktu kematian larva mulai terjadi pada 4 hari setelah aplikasi, dan terjadi pada konsentrasi tertinggi (106 konidia/ml) diantara 2 konsentrasi lainnya (104 konidia/ml dan 105 konidia/ml). Persentase kematian S. Exiguna tetinggi mencapai 76% pada perlakuan 106 konidia/ml, terendah yaitu 0% pada kontrol. Beauveria bassiana dari tanah perkebunan Lahat sudah dapat membunuh larva Spodoptera exiguna pada konsentrasi 104 konidia/ml.

Abstract

Swamp buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) is a germ plasm specific of Pampangan and endemic in South Sumatera with low productivity and limited distribution. The aims of this study was to obtain information regarding biophysical conditions in the central areas of swamp buffalo in South Sumatera. The method used is purposive sampling method. Data collected in the form of quantitative and qualitative. Primary data were obtained through direct observation, interviews breeders selected as respondents while secondary data obtained from various related. The data obtained are presented descriptively and data tabulation. Productivity of swamp buffalo Pampangan can be increased by managing and maintaining habitat conditions although traditional maintenance. The results of observations of the biophysical condition of swamp buffalo (B. bubalis) Pampangan showed that habitat of swamp buffalo Pampangan consists of dominated by lowland swamp area is overgrown with shrubs and grass. The conclution of the research are productivity and population of swamp buffalo (B. bubalis) pampangan as specific plasma nutfah of South Sumatra can be improved by studying the characteristics and preferred habitat of the buffalo, although developed in a traditional farms but is good enough and so need to be developed, grass is most preferred by swamp buffalo Pampangan derived from ‘Kumpai’ grass group, and ‘Kasur’grass and ‘Kumpai’ grass is the dominant grass type found in habitat swamp buffalo Pampangan.

Abstract

Eggshell is a solid waste that is available in abundance but is being left unused. Eggshell containing calcium in a high amount. Calcium can be used as a precursor for hydroxyapatite (HAp). Modification of HAp with SiO2 is expected to improve its low mechanical properties for biomedical applications. In this study, HAp is synthesized from the eggshell. Then, it was modified by adding SiO2 utilizing the coprecipitation method with concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, respectively. The HAp and HAp/SiO2 were characterized using; X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The analysis HAp and HAp/SiO2 were density, compressive strength, and hardness. The best mechanical properties of HAp/SiO2 were characterized using SEM-EDS. The HAp were prepared successfully with a ratio of Ca/P was 1.673, close to the theoretical 1.67. The addition of SiO2 caused a decrease in crystallite size and density but increased compressive strength and hardness. The best mechanical properties of HAp/SiO2 were obtained with SiO2 of 30% and 40% with similar values.
