Abstract

Workers of PT. Grandtex is divided into three different divisions; nonproduction division, weaving division, and spinning division. These workers have different activities, job processes, and work environments, especially in the cotton dust exposure rate. Exposure to cotton dust can influence physical working capacity. This study aimed to find out physical working capacity differences between workers of nonproduction division, weaving division, and spinning division. A comparative analytic survey study is conducted on 112 subjects, which consists of 32 nonproduction division workers, 40 weaving division workers, and 40 spinning division workers. Subjects are picked by the stratified random sampling method. Physical working capacity measured by using an anaerobic capacity parameter (V̇O2 max)with the Astrand-Rhyming chair test. The homogeneity of the result is tested by the Levene test and the normality is tested by Kolmogorov-Smirnov. To find out the differences, those data are analyzed by one-way ANOVA test (p<0,05) and followed by Duncan test to measure how big the differences are. The result of data analyzed with ANOVA indicated that there is a significant difference in physical working capacity (V̇O2 max)(p=0,000) among workers of nonproduction, weaving, and spinning division. This result was also followed by Duncan’s test suggesting thatthe physical working capacity (V̇O2 max) of nonproduction workers are bigger than weaving production workers and also bigger than spinning workers (35,78 ± 7,27 vs 31,50 ± 7,59 vs 28,03 ± 5,92 ml/kg BW/minute). From this study, we can conclude that the physical working capacity (V̇O2 max) of nonproduction workers is better than weaving and spinning division workers.

Abstract

Near work activity was estimates as risk factor of refractive error. This study aimed to analyze the association between near work activity and visucal acuity in junior high school students in Jatinangor. This study used cross-sectional method. Total of 147 subjects were screened for visual impairment and assessed for near work activities. Result showed total diopter-hours and time spent for each near work activity was less in group with visual acuity ≥ 6/18 than < 6/18 with no significant difference, except for playing games (p=0.018). In conclusion, near work activity does not have impact on visual acuity, except for playing games.

Abstract

Skin protects the body from various trauma, such as high temperature trauma known ascombustio. Pineapple (Ananas comosus) contains lots of substances such as bromelain, antioxidants, and zinc shown to accelerated healing process in previous experiments. Aim ofthis research was to analize the effect of topical pinneaple juice application in combustiohealing process. The method was true experimental laboratory. Wistar rats’ back skin wereinduced by 100 o C iron plat untill 2 nd degree combustio occured, then divided into two groups(n=20). The treatment group were given topical application of pinneaple juice, then the healingprocess were observed macroscopically and microscopically on day 0, 3, 7, and 14. The resultshowed better wound healing in treatment group on day 14. MANOVA test showed topicalapplication of pinneaple juice accelerated healing process (p=0.001). Treatment group showedbetter histological structure changes, as seen from better granulation tissue formed (p=0.003)and reepithelization (p=0,000), but not from angiogenesis (p=0.733). Conclusion, topicalapplication of pinneaple (Ananas comosus) juice accelerated healing process in 2 nd grade ofcombustio animal model measured by granulation maturation process and reepithelizationprocess, but has no effect on angiogenesis. Keywords : Ananas comosus juice, 2 nd degree combustio, granulation tissue, reepitelisation, angiogenesis.
