Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the transmission of extremism that occurs on social media and causes the spread of Islamic populism in Indonesia. Meanwhile, people think that populism is identical with one organization, namely FPI, with symbolic mass mobilization such as 212, and after its existence is forbidden it will no longer spread with meaningful calculations. This paper intends to review that on social media, it turns out that Islamic populism has actually strengthened and the transmission of extremism has become a trend among populists themselves. On YouTube, Khilafah Channel and Khilafah Focus Channel concern create content provoked by the public with the government while presenting the concept of HTI-style khilafah. Meanwhile, Islamic websites such as Suaraislam.id and kiblat.net also massively frame news about Muhammad Rizieq Shihab vis-à-vis the government's polemic. On Facebook, accounts and fanspages of populist Muslim representations are structurally not emerged, but the narrative of populism is scattered in a personal way. The polarization of extremism has become an inevitable matter, which can be traced through daily trending hashtags on Twitter. Radical-extremists cooperate, with the same enemy: government, and identical narratives: to offer a new, more Islamic government system, which is spread later through various contents on YouTube. This research is a qualitative study using descriptive analytical methods towards the narratives on the various platforms. The research results concluded that even though these days there are no longer mass mobilizations in huge numbers, Islamic populism is still preserved through the transmission of extremism on nomerous social media platforms. A number of policies make populists, meanwhile, seem locked up. In fact, it's just a matter of momentum. Even if their formal organization was banned and dissolved, their existence did not diminish, they just moved places. Social media is the safest vehicle for Islamic populism, extremism and its descent.

Abstract

The development of the Islamic finance industry in Indonesia has increased rapidly and satisfactorily. This can be seen from the growing number of Islamic financial institutions with a total of 4,000 institutions in 2019. These thousands of institutions offer sharia services and products; Islamic banks, Islamic people’s credit, sharia insurance, sharia pension funds, sharia pawnshops, sharia cooperatives, and sharia financial technology (fintech), etc. The rapid development of the Islamic financial market is a serious challenge for sharia economic experts who are members of the official institution of the National Sharia Council. This institution has the sole authority in issuing fatwas on sharia economics and finance in Indonesia. This paper reviews the thought products of the National Sharia Council in issuing fatwas in the form of sharia financial products that are flexible, meeting market demands/customer needs, and complying with sharia principles. The data was collected from DSN’s fatwas on sharia products from 1999-2010. Furthermore, the content analysis method was used to analyze the contents of DSN’s fatwa. The analysis result shows that DSN’s ijtihad in producing sharia products has not been sufficient a priori to rely on classical books which are very normative but must rely on economic demands/needs of modern financial markets.

Abstract

The Covid–19 pandemic has caused not only a harsh health crisis, but also a harsh economic crisis worldwide. Fortunately, new vaccines for Covid-19 have been succesfully developed in the record breaking time. Even though almost every country have started Covid-19 vaccinations for its people, the Covid-19 vaccines distribution remains unequal between high income countries, middle income countries, and low income countries, with high income countries having secured large shipments of Covid-19 vaccines, while middle income countries and low income countries still mostly left behind. This inequality could cause severe repercussions in the form of further Covid-19 virus mutation, the renewal of more countagious and deadlier Covid-19 outbreak, and also a slower recovery of the global economy. The aim of this research is to investigate further about the inequality in Covid–19 vaccines distribution. This research further recommends several policy approach in order to help reduce the inequality of Covid-19 vaccines distribution. This research also aims to contribute to the evolving Covid–19 literature.

Abstract

Trend in the development of Islamic banking industry in Indonesia in the last decade experienced a very significant development both qualitatively and quantitatively. The attractive development that is to be a pride for stakeholders of Islamic banking considering that Indonesia can be said too late, not to say left behind in responding the development of sharia-based industries and businesses if compared to other Muslim countries. However, the performance of Islamic banking financial institutions in Indonesia, slowly but surely, shows tremendous growth, even in certain level, can defeat neighboring country, Malaysia, which had long been working on Sharia-based financial sector. In the context of Indonesia, the idea of producing fatwas of Islamic banking products and services is truly derived from the results of Muslim scholars and experts’ ijtihad of Sharia economics attached to formal institution called the National Sharia Council of Indonesia Ulama Committee or DSN-MUI. This institution which then has sole authority in issuing fatwas on Islamic economics and finance in Indonesia, certainly in terms of Sharia industrial development in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has become a disaster that hit Indonesia and caused a crisis that brought anxiety to the community. Hoax news is easy to spread in the community with the main intermediary, namely digital media. Hoaxes are able to lead public opinion and influence people's mindsets so as to hinder the process of handling Covid-19. The number of hoax cases shows that people's digital literacy skills are still low so that there is no control over the information circulating. Therefore, we conducted this research as a form of concern for the low digital literacy skills of the Indonesian people. This study aims to provide information related to the importance of digital literacy in the use of social media and prevent the spread of hoaxes using the method library research, by utilizing library materials to obtain research data. The results show that digital literacy has an important role in efforts to tackle hoaxes. To improve digital literacy skills, people must develop critical thinking skills and be skeptical or doubt the information received. That way, the public will tend to first examine any information obtained and then judge whether the information is worthy of being accepted and believed to be true or not.

Abstract

In the last decade, the discussion around the fourth industrial revolution which emphasizes on the automation of all aspects of life has increased. The fourth industrial revolution, which is synonymous with technological sophistication, gives us an idea of a futuristic reality and this is certainly inseparable from large-scale development that must be encouraged. Even so, in the midst of seemingly relentless development, there is a group of people who seem to be deliberately distancing themselves and sticking to customs and traditions. Therefore, despite today's development narrative which is still centered in urban areas, it is important to see the industrial revolution 4.0 that we are experiencing today from the perspective of a group of people who are often referred to as Indigenous Peoples. In addition to fighting against urban hegemony, this paper also tries to question the meaning of development and the fourth industrial revolution and its implications for different stakeholders. Indigenous peoples respond to this situation by trying to create a concept of a rival economy against a growth economy with predatory characteristics. This competitive economy is referred to as the Nusantara Economy and prioritizes drastic emphasis on production-consumption activities (degrowth) as well as local, collective and community-based ownership of living space (the commons).Abstrak: Dalam satu dekade terakhir, perbincangan seputar revolusi industri 4.0 yang menekankan pada otomatisasi semua lini kehidupan kian meningkat.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the MSME sector. The research uses qualitative methods, namely using a literature review or literature study by looking for sources relevant to the cases discussed, such as research journals, scientific articles, and other sources whose credibility can be recognized. The data collection method is done by data reduction, namely selecting, simplifying, and making conclusions on the data. The instability of the country's economy since the Covid-19 pandemic occurred due to government policies regarding restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result of Covid-19, many workers were laid off so that he started his work again by creating a small business, which is commonly called MSME. The sector that has been hardest hit since Covid-19 is MSMEs. In the results of the study, it was found that the results of production and income obtained by MSME entrepreneurs were not comparable to before the existence of Covid-19. In fact, these MSMEs can make a big contribution to the country's economy. In addition, MSMEs also have a big role in reducing unemployment because MSMEs can create jobs for the community. MSMEs are also required to provide new innovations to their products in order to compete with other competitors. The efforts made by MSME activists cannot be separated from government assistance. The government is also required to help small business actors, especially MSMEs, by providing subsidies and stimulus. Keywords: Results, MSMEs, Covid-19, National Economics

Abstract

MSME players in Indonesia must be literate in information on Islamic financial products, the number of which is very varied and complex. For example, the financing of Mudharabah, Musyarakah, Istisna', Salam, Ijarah, Qard, Rahn, and so on (Zaini et al., 2019). The complexity of this sharia contract must be massively and systematically socialized to our MSME actors, which are very large in number. The goal is not only to improve the quality of Islamic financial literacy, but also as a means of obtaining convenience in obtaining complete and useful information about the availability of Sharia financing products and the application mechanism in obtaining this service so that the needs of capital fulfillment, business development for MSMEs or other consumptive needs can be met with sharia schemes in accordance with Islamic principles (Faizi & Shuib,   2021). Information like this has not been obtained by the public, especially MSME actors
