Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the method of giving rations during the day and night on the physiological response (respiratory rate, rectal temperature, and heart rate) of medium type roosters in postal cages and to determine the effect of the best day and night ration methods on physiological response of medium type rooster in postal cage. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of three treatments with six replications, those were P1: 30% day and 70% night ration; P2: 50% day and 50% night ration; P3: 70% day and 30% night ration. The chicken used was male Lohman strain medium type of 144 chickens. The resulting data were analyzed with variance at 5% level. The results showed that the influence of day and night administration method was not different (P > 0.05) on the frequency of breath (51.73 to 55.27 Times/min), rectal temperature (41.13 to 41.16oC), and heart rate frequency (421.2 to 434.7 times/minute). Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the factors and factors value affecting calving interval of Ongole Grade (PO) cattle in Wawasan Village, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency. The Research was conducted on 20 December 2019 – 15 January 2020 using 100 PO cattle in Wawasan Village, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency. This research used census method. Data was analyzed by linear regression using SPSS program. The result showed that calving interval of PO cattle in Wawasan Village, Tanjungsari District, South Lampung Regency was 23.17 ± 6.05 month. The factors that affect the calving interval were, at the farmer level, the breeding experience was negatively associated with a factor of 0.384. At the livestock level, postpartum mating was positively associated with a factor of 0.755 and weaning age was positively associated with a factor of 0.650. At the inseminator level, thawing time is positively associated with a factor of 0.813. Keywords: Calving interval, Factor and factor value, Ongole Grade (PO) cattle

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the levels of hemoglobin and hematocrit and the best dose of Nigella sativa to the blood profile of female broilers. This research was conducted in December 2019 - January 2020 at the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Checking hemoglobin and hematocrit levels was carried out at Pramitra Biolab Indonesia. This study used 60 female broilers, using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and each treatment was repeated three times, namely drinking water without a mixture of Nigella sativa (P0), drinking water with 36 mg / kg / w / day Nigella sativa (P1 ), drinking water with 72 mg / kg / body weight / day Nigella sativa (P2), drinking water with 144 mg / kg / body weight / day Nigella sativa (P3). Based on the data obtained from the observation results was arranged in the form of simple tabulation and displayed in the form of a histogram , and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that giving Nigella sativa in drinking water had an effect on hemoglobin levels and the hematocrit value of female broilers. Hemoglobin and hematocrit levels in each treatment were still in the normal range and the optimal dose of Nigella sativa for the blood profile of female broiler chickens which was found in P2 (provision of drinking water at a dose of 72 mg / kg BW / day Nigella sativa). Keyword s: Broiler Females, Hematocrit, Hemoglobin, Immunomodulator, Nigella sativa

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of various diluents on the quality of Boer goat’s semen after the sexing process using the BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin) albumin column method and to find out the best diluent on the quality of semen from sexing. This research was conducted on July, 11th to 25th 2019 at the Lembang Artificial Insemination Laboratory, Kayuambon, Lembang, West Java. Completely randomized design with three treatments and three replications was used in this research. The treatment given covering giving diluents of andromed (P1), skim milk (P2), and biomed (P3). The variables observed were motility, viability, and abnormality. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and it was followed by Duncan test. The results of this research indicated that the treatment using andromed (P1), skim milk (P2), and biomed (P3) was not significantly different (P>0,05) on motility, viability, and abnormality of Boer goat’s cement from sexing. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the best dose of purslane flour on red blood cells, hemoglobin, and packed cell volume in Jawarandu Goats. This research was conducted in February-March 2021 at the Rambon Asri Cattle Group, Rejo Asri Village, Seputih Raman District, Central Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. Examination of red blood cells, hemoglobin, and packed cell volume was carried out at the Veterinary Center of Lampung Province. The experiment used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were basal ration (P0), basal ration with 5% purslane flour supplementation (P1), basal ration with 10% purslane flour supplementation (P2), and basal ration with 15% purslane flour supplementation (P3). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance with a significance level of 5% and continued with orthogonal polynomials. The results showed that purslane flour supplementation had no significant effect (P>0.05) on total erythrocytes and hemoglobin, but had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the volume of packed cells of Jawarandu Goat. The optimum dose of purslane flour supplementation on red blood cells, hemoglobin, and hematocrit were 3.01% Kg/BK ration, 2.17% Kg/BK ration, and 3.16% Kg/BK ration, respectively. Keywords: Hemoglobin, Jawarandu goat, Packed cell volume, Red blood cells, Purslane flour

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Purslane flour on total white blood cells, and white blood cell differential in Jawarandu goats. This research was conducted from February until March 2021 in the Livestock Group of Rambon Asri, Rejo Asri Village, Seputih Raman District, Lampung Tengah Regency, Lampung Province. Examination of white blood cells and white blood cell differential was carried out at the Lampung Veterinary Disease Investigation Center. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were basal ration (P0), basal ration with 5% Purslane flour supplementation (P1), basal ration with 10% Purslane flour supplementation (P2), and basal ration with 15% Purslane flour supplementation (P3). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance with a significance level of 5% and if a significant effect was obtained, it was continued tested with orthogonal polynomials. The results showed that purslane flour supplementation had a significant effect (P<0.05) on total neutrophils and a very significant effect (P<0.01) on total white blood cells and lymphocytes, but had no significant effect (P>0.05) against monocytes. The best dose of purslane flour supplementation which was optimum for white blood cells, lymphocytes, and neutrophils was 3.01% kg/DM (dry matter) ration, 8.34% kg/DM ration, and 10.51% kg/DM ration, respectively.
