Abstract

This study aimed to determine the Correlation and the regression equation between body measurements and body weight of Brahman Cross (BX) Cow in KPT Maju Sejahtera Trimulyo village, Tanjung Bintang District, Lampung Selatan Regency. This research was conducted in July 2020. The data obtained were analyzed using simple and multiple regression analysis using the help of the Excel program. The material used in this study were 32 Brahman Cross (BX) Cow aged 2-3 years. The results of this study indicated that the average of Body Weight (BW), Chest Circumference (CC), Body Length (BL), and Shoulder height (SH) were 472.66 ± 53.59 kg, 179.95 ± 7, 95 cm, 132.49 ± 6.39 cm, 127.95 ± 3.08 cm, respectively. The correlation value between CC, BL, SH with BB were 0.764, 0.448, and 0.551, respectively. These results indicated that CC, BL, SH, have a positive relationship with BW. The regression equation resulting from the relationship between body weight and body size CC, BL, SH to BW with the value of determination (R2) and significance (P˂0.05) was 0.607 (60.7%) with the regression equation BW = -674.003 + 4.314 CC + 1.247 BL + 1.602 SH. Abstract

This study aimed to compare the value of does productivity index of Saburai goats and Etawa Grade (EG) goats in UPTD Negeri Sakti, Lampung Province. This research used 25 female Saburai goats and 25 female EG goats with their first and second parity kids. This study used a survey method with collecting data by census method. The variables observed were litter size, kidding interval, birth type, corrected weaning weight. The results showed that the average litter size of Saburai goats and EG goats were 1.34 ± 0.37 and 1.82 ± 0.35, respectively. Kidding interval of Saburai and EG goats was 7.01 ± 0,17 months and 8.69 ± 0.38 months, respectively, the mean of corrected weaning weight of Saburai goats was 18.64 ± 2.01 kg while of EG goats was 12.69 ± 1.15 kg. The mean does productivity index of Saburai goats and EG goats were 42.71 ± 12.32 and 32.35 ± 8.41, respectively. The results also indicated that does productivity index of Saburai goats was different from that of EG goats. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the repeatability estimate of weaning weight and the Most Probable Producing Ability (MPPA) of female Saburai goats in the Guyup Rukun Farm Group in Sumberejo District, Tanggamus Regency which was conducted in November 2020. The method used in this study was a survey method using 50 Saburai does that had given birth twice from 2016-2020. The observed variables were birth weight, age of the dam at giving birth, weaning age, type of birth, sex and weaning weight at the first and second parity. Weaning weights were corrected for sex, the age of the dam, weaning age of 90 days, and birth type. The repeatability estimate was calculated using interclass correlation method. The Repeatability estimate then was used to estimate the MPPA of Saburai does. The results showed that the repeatability estimate of weaning weight of Saburai goat was 0.72 (high category). The average MPPA of weaning weight for Saburai does was 16.41±0.92 kg with the highest MPPA was 18.92±0.92 kg and the lowest MPPA was 14.96±0.92 kg. There were 18 does with MPPA values ​​above the average of the population in the farmer group with livestock code KI2, KI3, KS3, KI6, KI4, KI5, JW2, MD3, KI1, SK1, MG1, TW2, KS4, SY3, SK2, MG5, SR3, and KT3. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the genetic potential of Saburai bucks for weaning weight based on breeding value in the Makmur II Livestock Group, Gisting District, Tanggamus Regency and to determine which individuals deserve to be maintained in the population. This research was conducted in May 2021 at Gisting Atas Village, Gisting District, Tanggamus Regency. This study used a survey method using weaning weight data at first and second parity that has been recorded by farmers in the recording. The observed variables were birth weight, weaning weight, weaning age, age of the dam at the time of giving birth, birth type, and sex of kid. Weaning weight data at each parity were corrected for the age of the dam, sex, and type of birth of kids. Repeatability estimates was calculated using interclass correlation method, while heritability estimates was calculated using paternal halfsib with one way layout. The results of this study showed that the average corrected weaning weight of Saburai goat was 14.35±0.33 kg, heritability value was 0.39±0.20 (high category), repeatability estimate was 0.61 (high category), and the average breeding value of weaning weights of Saburai buck was 13.96 kg. The breeding values of 5 Saburai goats in the Makmur II Livestock Group, Gisting District, Tanggamus Regency, were Os (14.09 kg), Ba (14.02 kg), Pa (13.94 kg), Ad (13.89 kg), Pg (13.86 kg). Abstract

Dalam usaha peternakan kambing dan sapi yang dilakukan di kelompok ternak Kelompok Tani Fajar Baru saat ini permasalahan utama adalah kebutuhan nutrisi pakan dan kualitas bahan pakan ternak kambing dan sapi. Manfaat dari kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu meningkatkan pendapatan peternak melalui peningkatan kualitas budidaya dengan pemberian pakan yang cukup dan asupan mineral yang sesuai kebutuhan. Kegiatan pengabdian berupa penyuluhan dan diskusi dengan anggota kelompok ternak melalui penggunaan mineral organik untuk ternak ruminansia (Kambing dan Sapi) untuk mendapatkan nilai lebih bagi perekonomian keluarga. Evaluasi dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahap yaitu evaluasi awal, evaluasi proses dan evaluasi akhir atas kegiatan yang dilaksanakan. Kegiatan pengabdian memberikan manfaat yang luar biasa terhadap pengetahuan dan kemampuan peternak tentang pembuatan dan penggunaan mineral organik untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan ternak ruminansia (Kambing dan Sapi). Tingkat pengetahuan peternak sebelum pelaksanaan adalah 50,78% kemudian meningkat menjadi 88,11% setelah pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi tersebut dapat diartikan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian yang dilaksanakan oleh tim membawa perubahan yang sangat baik terhadap kualitas pengetahuan dan ketrampilan kelompok ternak mengenai pembuatan dan pemberian mineral organik yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan daging sapi dan kambing yang dipelihara kelompok Ternak Desa Pajar Baru, Jati Agung, Lampung Selatan.

Abstract

Beef is a source of food that is much needed and consumed by humans, because it has a high protein content. Protein has a function as a building, regulatory, and replacement substance for body parts or tissue that has been damaged. In addition, protein can also be a source of energy and contains essential amino acids needed by the human body. Beef is widely marketed by sellers and is easily available. Beef can be used to become shredded so that it has added value. Housewives in Rantau Fajar Village Raman Utara District Lampung Timur Regency have a habit after completing household tasks, they do not have other jobs. Usually they visit each other with neighbors and chat which is of no use. The team for community service at the University of Lampung plans to conduct training in making beef shredded to train housewives who do not have jobs to have the skills to make beef shredded. The aim of the training in making beef floss for housewives in Rantau Fajar Village Raman Utara District Lampung Timur Regency is to provide knowledge and skills to housewives so that they have skills. With the acquired skills, it is hoped that they can increase their household income. The results of the community service that were carried out received a very enthusiastic appreciation from the community, as well as increased public knowledge about how to make shredded beef which has high nutritional value, as well as technology transfer in the form of a slicer that separates the oil content from beef shredded.

Abstract

Margo Lestari Village is a village with potential as a laying hen farming center. This can be seen from the people who raise laying hens. However, the high egg production in the village is not matched by egg sales or marketing. This results in the production of eggs that can rot before being utilized or consumed because eggs have a fairly short shelf life. Thus, it is hoped that this service activity can increase the income of farmers through improving the quality of salted egg products from laying hen eggs in Margo Lestari Village. This counseling activity uses the lecture method and question and answer section. Extension activities were carried out on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 09.00 to 12.30 WIB at the Margo Lestari Village Hall, Jati Agung District, South Lampung Regency. The socialization was attended by 20 people, most of whom were breeders. After carrying out community service activities, it can be concluded that there are several things obtained by farmers as participants, namely increasing knowledge related to processing poultry farm products into salted eggs to increase the selling price and shelf life of production eggs in an effort to increase the economic value of farmers. Abstract

Usaha pening-katan produksi melalui peningkatan mutu genetika memerlukan seperangkat pengetahuan tentang parameter genetika sifat yang dapat diukur, yang salah satunya adalah korelasi genetika antar-sifat yang berbeda. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengestimasi nilai korelasi genetik antara berat lahir dengan berat sapih pada domba lokal di kandang percobaan Jurusan Peternakan, Universitas Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan catatan data yang berupa data berat lahir dan berat sapih domba lokal yang telah dipelihara selama 5 bulan dengan jumlah 31 ekor domba (umur 150 hari) Data penunjang lainnya adalah data penimbangan berat badan selama pemeliharaan. Metode statistik yang digunakan untuk mengestimasi korelasi genetik adalah metode One Way Analysis of Variance. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai estimasi korelasi genetik antara berat awal dengan berat akhir sebesar 0,72±0,38. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa nilai korelasi genetik antara berat lahir dengan sapi akhir temasuk positif tinggi.

Abstract

One of the potentials owned by Desa Fajar Baru, Jati Agung Regency is livestock, especially goats. However, the excesses caused by farm animals, especially dirt, have a huge impact on health and the environment. In addition, people's habit in processing the manure to be used as compost is less optimal so that agricultural products often do not have maximum impact. Currently, during the Covid-19 pandemic that occurred all over the world, caused an economic recession and decreased income of farming families. With the activities of the training program of making fertilizer from goat manure this gives a new passion impact to farmers. This simple, effective and efficient method of making compost is a new knowledge and experience for farmers in Desa Fajar Baru. This fertilizer is made by adding some materials available in nature easily and cheaply, but provides effective results, both in terms of manufacture, process and use and relatively very short use. Thus, this training provides a new hope for farmers to abandon the old way and provide solutions to the outbound economy and have a positive impact on the environment.  Keywords: fertilizer, compost, goat manure, Fajar Baru, Community Service
